    이개 - this dog (here in my room is with me and is my dog).
    그개 - that dog (there in your room is with you and is your dog).
    저개 - that dog (way over there is neither with you nor me, perhaps that dog needs a home?).

    • @PedroApp
      @PedroApp 6 років тому +8

      Danny Knowles fun fact I'm with my dog but you already commented this :((

    • @tahnjr
      @tahnjr 6 років тому +6

      Danny Knowles: And also
      그개 - That dog (of ours who is lost, and we are still trying to find it).

    • @dannyknowles1833
      @dannyknowles1833 6 років тому +3

      Why not that dog (저개) ? I'm assuming your dog (hopefully fictitiously lost) is with neither you (the speaker) nor any of us (the listeners).

    • @tahnjr
      @tahnjr 6 років тому +7

      Danny Knowles : Native Korean speakers also use 그 to refer to someone or something that is not visible, yet both speaker and listener(s) share or know about. For example, a mutual friend, or something you you've both seen. For example: 그 영화 means "That movie", which refers to a movie you have both seen. Or 그 음식, "That food", referring to a particular delicacy you've both eaten. 그 식당, "That restaurant" refers to a place where you've both eaten. And 저 식당, "That restaurant [pointing]" refers to the physical building where you go and eat.

    • @dannyknowles1833
      @dannyknowles1833 6 років тому +1

      Thanks Tony. So if it's your dog that's invisible and I've never seen your dog, in this case, would I ask you "Where is that dog (저개) of yours?"? Or does (저개) refer only to a dog that neither party knows anything about? Kinda like (저) is exclusively used for something strange or surprising or unknown? I've only just started learning Korean and "this" is one of my first words. Ugh ... "this" isn't going to be easy. When in doubt (especially for beginners) is it safer to use (저) or (그) when referring to "that"? I would not want to offend anyone (especially when talking about their lost or invisible dog).

    These kinds of lessons are the best. It gives the student I guess the ability to ask questions. just by having what is that? and being able to ask is a powerful way to start learning nouns. More like this, like How do i get there? How can I say this... It would be great to have a lesson on these kinds of learning tools so we can self learn to.

    한국언니씨, This was a great video. I know each of the three words mean , this that, that, but I always struggle with which 'that' is close by and which is far away. You've made it so clear. It was so funny when you picked up your slipper and held it so close to your face. I know you said that it was dusty, but your facial expression said , 냄새. I can't imagine you with 냄새 발....so it made me laugh. I really love watching your videos. You do such a great job and you do make learning fun.

    For French people like myself, Asian languages/dialects like Korean, Japanese, Mandarin and Cantonese are quite challenging to learn and I really like Unnie's approach for teaching Korean, which makes me want to learn more Korean from her so I subsbriced to her channel right after watching this video. I know just bits and pieces of the Korean language and with my working schedule, until I saw this video, I thought I would learn Korean very slowly but this video motivates me to spend more of my time learning Korean. To begin with, music is my passion and I discovered KPop by coincidence after watching the Japanese movie 日本沈没. In that movie, the theme song "Keep Holding U" is performed by 선민 and 久保田 利伸. I knew the song and I assumed that 선민 is Japanese because she was singing in that Japanese. I forgot about that song until I saw the movie, which is when I found on wikipedia that Sunmin is Korean. So I listened to her Korean version of that song, as well as other songs from her. This is how I discovered KPop, listened to some South Korean artists and favorite one became and still is 권보아, also known as BoA. She is my favorite Asian artist. Even with my busy schedule, I listen to some of her music every day. Since I discovered Korean music, I watch a lot of K-dramas and Korean movies. Even if some words being used in KPop, K-dramas and Korean movies are used in a different way from how Korean people speak to each other in daily life, I want to fully understand all these and become fluent in Korean. Thank you Unnie, you are very helpful.
