Tabo is a quaint little town on the banks of the Spiti river which is tucked away in the remote Himalayan ranges of Spiti valley- Himachal Pradesh. Tabo town is centered around Tabo monastery which is the oldest continuously operating Buddhist monastery in the entire Himalayan region and India. This monastery is more than one thousand years old, built in the year 996 CE. There are also multiple ancient caves in the mountains surrounding Tabo town and we also hiked up the mountains to see some of the caves. Tabo though a small town has multiple home stays to choose from. Tabo monastery also has a guest house for visitors. We had a comfortable stay at Zostel homestay.
