  • Kalpa | Pristine Beauty of Himalayas | Kinnaur Valley
Kalpa is a small village located at 9700 feet above Reckong Peo, the district head of Kinnaur region. It is mainly inhabited by the local Kinnauri people where Hinduism and Buddhism coexist in harmony.
According to me, the best thing to do in Kalpa is to watch the sunrise. We woke up early in the morning and witnessed how the first rays of sun illuminated the Shivling Peak. It was truly a glorious thing to witness. And then gradually, the entire sky lit up in myriads of colours. It was my speechless moment at Kalpa. There is no particular sightseeing spots in Kalpa. You have to just walk along the upper road or on the lower road passing through the middle of apple orchards to enjoy the beauty of nature and solace of Kalpa.
HOBULANGKA BUDDHIST MONASTERY - The Oldest Monastery in Kalpa
This is a small ancient monastery located in the narrow lanes of Kalpa. Built in Tibetan architecture style, the carvings on the doors of the temple are extremely beautiful. The monastery was founded by the spiritual guru Venerable Rattan Bhadera (Lochowa Rinchen Zangpo) in 958-1055 BC. During his lifetime he constructed 108 monasteries (gompa) and of them is located at Kalpa.
    Narayan Nagini Temple
Little ahead of the monastery is a beautiful wooden temple of Narayan Nagini dedicated to Lord Vishnu and Goddess Nagini. The architecture of the temple has intricate carvings and murals adorning the walls and ceilings. The courtyard is spacious with a wonderful view of mountains. The temple is believed to be 5000 years old and as per locals it is mythologically related to Mahabharata.
    Rarang Village
arang Village holds a special place in the hearts of Buddhists due to its rich spiritual heritage. The village is adorned with ancient monasteries, prayer flags fluttering in the wind, and the soothing sounds of monks chanting prayers. These elements create an atmosphere of peace and devotion, making Rarang an ideal destination for those seeking spiritual solace and a deeper connection with their inner selves.
