Just brilliant ... one of the best songs in regards to the combination of melody, lyrics, meaning and emotion. Even more this version. An inspiration for any songwriter ...
This is the best split enz song cause it's got meaning. I love some if their other stuff, like 6 months in a leaky boat, but it's all just fun. Which is good, but this song has good lyrics and meaning :) and it's beautiful xx
Too right, Neil: there is an underlying humour about it. I know I had a chuckle. Beautiful stuff, but way overblown. 'Never-again-zo' indeed! For a more intimate version, see Missy Higgins' take on it from the She Will Have Her Way compilation.
@ahisandwich don't completely agree on the john lennon thing. I think if anyone was Lennon in Split Enz it must have been Judd, but not Tim. Tim is a crooner, a brilliant melodist(like Mccartney, not Lennon).
For some reason this song makes me cry every time...

Still love all of these songs with the Enzso ...well done Eddie.
Best version of a magnificent song
gorgeous song.... time stands still on such classics.. thank god no teeny boppers have found it yet and wrecked it
Tis great to hear these songs done this way!

I think this is perhaps one of Tim Finn's best songs. Tim Finn has so much emotion in his music.
Genius
forgotten longing ,

That's Tim singing backups.
@ahisandwich Tim's voice is still in great shape, and I still prefer it to Neil's

Yeah, I know, but Tim's voice wasn't up to it at the time. He was having a lot of trouble.
I like Tim's version better but still its an awesome song.
i think the only problem is Tim doesnt sing it
I prefer Tim's version
