the speed is honestly ridiculous, i don't think i've ever seen a faster display of bottom dominance. The way he went from being mounted with decent foot positioning, only to secure the neck, and then the choke. Truly beautiful.

Its crazy that Charles been in the ufc for 11 years and yet he is only 31.
To think of it hes like one of the only 20 year olds to debut and still on the roster after so long, others couldnt make it… like joe lauzons brother, matt riddell, sage, even chase hooper is barely scraping by only because he has insane jiu jitsu. I dont see him being on the roster when hes 29-30.
He grew up fighting WORLD CLASS competition. That’s real GOAT shit right there.

He’s suffered some losses but that record is still pretty impressive when you think about a person have 39 fights and being able to win 31 of them. And the fact that he’s a champion kinda is the icing on the cake at this point

I think he would 've had less losses if he started off in lightweight right away. Featherweight wasn't the right division for him. It drained and weakened him too much.

For many years it didn't look like he'd ever be a UFC champion, as the man seemingly always came up short in the big fights. Now that he's matured with a wealth of experience, Charles overcame that hurdle and began to win the fights under the spotlight. It wasn't until he dominated a fan-favourite in Tony though did the fans actually start paying attention.

Its an intriguing fight, given that Khabib hasn't faced someone with the BJJ pedigree and power bottom capability that Charles Oliveira has. But if past-form is anything to go by Khabib most likely smeshes Charles like all his previous opponents. Khabib may very well even submit him under the right circumstances.
I was there that night at the Sports Arena and that submission looked so slick from our seats. My homie and I were blown away with his work. I have been a fan since and it’s so cool to see how far Do Bronx has come in his UFC career. What a legend.

Perhaps the greatest championship win of all time. Between coming back from the brink to finish his opponent to the utterly grateful gratitude and appreciation he showed after winning. Taking place years after his initial UFC debut and numerous setbacks that could probably have led one to believe he'd never be a champion.
Oliveira been around forever and gladly he finally got the title. One of the most deserving title holder!

People gotta realize that in 23 UFC fights Elkins has been submitted only once and it was by this man. Elkins has made a career out of getting guys to gas trying to submit him and Olives did it in 40 sec. Yea there's more credentialed bjj guys in the UFC but I don't think there are any deadlier.
Elkins is pretty underrated to be honest, he is past it now and likely punch drunk but he's a very good gatekeeper who is not an easy fight for anyone. Mirsad Bektic found that out the hard way, as did the fans. Meanwhile Chad Mendes and Alex Volkanovski seemingly breezed by him, letting us know those guys were the real deal.
