Can't agree more. I've never seen an IIM-A grad being so candid about her/his past (failed) attempts. Discussing them openly does make you inferior!

@@Lily-kj7hy my college ended in June this year, so it is technically a gap year but in terms of giving CAT it won’t be considered since my college ended few months ago and I can say that I prepped and gave cat.
Nevertheless, the time I am doing courses on consulting since that is where I want to venture in to justify the few months

Hello I am preparing for IPMAT INDORE and I am currently in 11th grade (commerce) so i will be giving IPMAT 2025. Can you please tell whether I need to learn GK and Current affairs now itself, if yes from where? And when to start giving mocks. Lastly, are extra curriculars important? As a mass media graduate who is preparing for CAT, the biggest challenge I face is the unfamiliarity of an MBA, it's like I eagerly want to do it but the course curriculum is heavy on quants, especially finance and I fear I might not catch up once I am inside. Tbh, you're the first BMM/Journalism student I came across who went to an IIM. Do you have any tips to overcome this fear, cause it seriously is taking a toll on my prep. Thank you.
Don't worry about the curriculum. There are doctors in our batch who have never studied fin, and they do so well in fin exams! Just focus on the prep for now. Once you get in, you'll find a support system that will help you ace these subjects. Professors are super supportive and they take remedial classes for non-enggs too. You study advertising in BMM, right? So marketing courses will be easy for you :)

I had a question, to what extent does the name brand of the company you've worked in matter in IIM interviews? I am a Psych + Econ grad from DU with 13 months of experience in Brand Marketing in a smaller scale MNC (~5000 employees) and wanted to know if that might impact anything. Most of the profiles I've seen have had work ex in larger, more well-known companies.

Your score (that any IIM will use while calculating the work ex- depends solely on your months of work ex. Maybe in the interview it could add some brownie points, but what matters more is how the experience shaped your growth and how you contributed & what you learnt.

How was your percentile score in initial and during august. I am a TIME student but my percentile is just 35-40 in past 6 mocks i gave.
I was bordering along 70-75%tile in August. Went up to 80-85 towards the end. Some 90+ were also there, but not a lot.
How much did you score in 10 th 12th & grad.?

Hi Milana, I'm currently working full time and thinking of leaving my job to study full time for CAT. So wanted to ask when you left your job and started full time study did you pursue any internships or case competitions for the sake of your CV? Also during your interviews did the interviewers grill you regarding your gap and if yes, how did you justify that?

No, you can’t mention internships and it has to be stuff you’ve done after grad only.

That depends on which university you studied at. I went to Mumbai university and they have this conversion formula that is available online. Just search CGPA to percent calculator. 10th scores they accept as CGPA for CBSE students

Mein dilr ke preparation kha se kru mere usme marks nhi aa rhe hai bhut confuse hu..or aapne dilr ki prep.....kha se kri thi meine time ke LR... ki module bhi krli hai but fir bhi kbhi kbhi set solve nhi hote hai hai

I took mocks from TIME, IMS & Cracku. Read from Arun Sharma (not all chapters though - that book is a tome) and did practice questions from TIME's books. Also took some topic wise lessons from Alchemist (online)

I took mocks from TIME, IMS, Cracku (all of them) and 2-3 from Career Launcher (these were the free ones). All of them were pretty good. IMS imo was needlessly tough.

Hey, start prep when you’re in your final year. Join any coaching institute, doesn’t really matter. Hours of study don’t matter, what matters is your quality of study. Don’t take your strength sections for granted and focus on meeting sectional cut offs for the other sections. You have lots of time, you can do this! Get into the habit of reading dense stuff like non-fiction articles… improve your reading speed! And most importantly, enjoy your UG life! Congrats on the new chapter in your life! ❤️

98+ minimum - for baby IIMs. Maybe 98.5+ will work if you're a CA/Lawyer etc.

Hey, please don't lose hope. I took mocks from TIME, Cracku & IMS. And 2 free ones from Career Launcher. All of them are more or less the same. I thought IMS was needlessly tough. I will make a video on VARC soon. But for now, get into the habit of reading boring things. Don't waste your time on story books (unless it's a recreational activity for you), instead, read dull & boring texts on history, science, biology, politics etc. You'll find some good ones on Aeon!

IIM B prefers 98+ and more work ex. IIM C doesn't care much for diversity. They look at percentiles at the end of the day. IIM A values diversity a lot.

Yes ofc! IIM A doesn’t have a specialization system, but in the 2nd year you get to pick your subjects. So there you can take fin subjects to enhance your learning :)

No, they're not. But you can talk about it in your interview. Only National level/state level achievements & full time work ex carry points (that also varies from IIM to IIM). The rest, you can talk about in your interview(s) though.

You'll have to check the current criterion. In my year they waived off the UG %tage requirement because of COVID

Yea work ex does matter only those work ex which are done after graduation . And more than 12 months and 36 months scores depends . any Course rather than engineer gives u a better criteria for admission but iim A Never forgives you for your past mistakes . 10-12 marks also matter
Work ex matters a lot. Note: Internships don't count as work ex
