Dear Mary Chapin, My heart breaks for your loss of precious White Kitty. I still well up every time I think about a beloved pet who left me well over a decade ago, as she was with me for 12-1/2 years. I loved my other pets, too, of course, but she was just extra special… Had she been with me for 19 years, I’d image my anguish would have been ever worse. I hope at some point you can take a little comfort in knowing that White Kitty must have had the best last year that any furry companion could have possibly ever have had…as her human was home all/nearly all the time. If WK were the one doing the singing and guitar-playing -- and announcing that you were off somewhere snoozing and might wander into view at some point -- I’d imagine “I Feel Lucky” might have been the SFH selection quite a few times. Dear Mary Chapin, I too grieve with you over the loss of dear White Kitty. She will be missed by so many. One particular memory I have of her is from SFH Episode 2. She was sitting on the kitchen counter and calling to you while you were singing. There was something so sweet about that. (It's rather ironic - the song was "Soul Companion".) Beautiful song . Next week will be in the 60' s here in Update NY . Been so cold here . I will be enjoying the warmer weather and happy Spring is coming . We have be thrown In this isolation mode for a year now. The one good thing that came out this is reconnecting with you here after all these years . Could you have imagined this ? One song one day brought all together. Some days I go to far down the rabbit hole with the news and craziness of it . Here I've gained something hopeful and useful again. I watch your videos faithfully . Your smooth and soft singing voice and smiles is pure. Been long time fan since the 90's. Hearing these songs are so nostalgic when I was a single Mom raising my little boy who is now 29. I miss him as he lives an Indiana. .To think I was driving him to school with my cassette/CD of you singing . Thank you for all your songs from home. Angus is looking pretty sharp. And hello to White Kitty. . I've gained something useful , valuable and makes sense. Long time fan from early 90's . Hearing these songs again from many years ago in different stages in life is nostalgic.
Warmer in Tucson though 87 today is not what I really like. 75 is great! Then it cools down to 60's. and 40s or less at night. Love your music and being here every week, on time or not. Thank you so much!!
As gentle and soothing as ever. By the way folks, is it just me that copies Mary every time at the end with the "stay mighty" clenched fist thing? I just can't help myself!
“I came to say goodbye and to hug you But I wasn’t brave enough to say that So I said See You Soon and I Love You” ....so poignantly timed and heart-stirring.......a one day road trip to Southamton Hospital a week and a half ago......uncannily echoing the identical lyrics as I prepared to exit the hospital room ...... on Friday I laid my son to rest .......I draw many common parallels to MCC's elegy to Ben ......a father, Americana musician, a victim of inescapable terminal cancer - Ben's pancreatic as opposed to Rick's glioblastoma - far too young.....R.I.P Ben, R.I.P Rick.....God Bless and thank you Mary for this moving and for me, timely song choice
Audrey Felső .......thank you Audrey.......for those of us outside of secular thinking and forced onto this untimely painful path of losing a child, spouse, parent or dear friend, then the knowing and believing that as MCC puts it "I'll see you soon" although dual meaning , the hidden side's deeper meaning based on Faith truly does provide solace ...... thank you once again......Mike
@alt2ooning. My deepest sympathies to you! Losing a child must be the pit of bottomless despair. I have no words other than to pray that you may receive the gift of the kind of peace that passes all understanding.
Amazing isn't it how much time has passed since this all began? Kind of like one reallllly long day!! But as always so very grateful to share this time each week with your touching music, dear Mary, and all of the wonderful folks who meet up here every Sunday. Hi Mary, I can’t believe how quickly Sunday has come around again. This evening we’ve had a spectacular sunset here in the north of the UK. Maybe that’s one benefit of the lockdown we’re in; we’ve learnt to appreciate all the little joys of life that normally would pass us by. It struck me that I’ve been listening to your records for over 30 years and your voice seems to have barely changed in that time; still as lovely as ever. Over 60 SFH now, without one repeat, that’s quite some feat. It shows what an amazing catalogue of fabulous songs you’ve created over the years. Angus is a real sweetheart. It’s clear you’re his BFF too. Stay mighty Mary, Angus, White Kitty and all the lovely people tuning in 😊
it is always a pleasure to listen to these songs and to say thank you for the effort. The large number of people who speak up about these ideas speak for themselves. May God still give you a lot of health and a long life!💞🍀👍💪
Haven't even watched yet and am going to say thank you. I always hold onto these Sunday gems until later in the week so I have something to look forward to. Never am I disappointed. 💛
I had not read the comments about White Kitty. I am so sorry to hear about her passing, it is never easy to say goodbye to a friend. The only downside to sharing life with our fur babies is they are not given as many years of life as we experience.
Thank you :) I remember watching the first songs from home amidst all the madness and adrenaline of the early days of the first lockdown here in the UK a year ago. I only knew about three of your songs back then, and now I know a lot more! I am also looking forward to better weather, lighter evenings and long hikes. Stay well 🌼
'Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget.' A long seen note from London Heathrow. Dear MCC, I am realizing how great challenge it is these days without Songs From Home, missing whom I have come to love, learning gradually and very slowly to stay mighty. Listening to your albums, especially The Calling, and interviews, especially with Diane Rehm these days by suggestion of a good friend. I found interviews about six of your albums, already listened to one and I love it a lot. Will listen to them like podcasts. Grateful thanks and good wishes sent every day.

Hello Audrey, Only one more and my journey is complete. At first I thought SFH #60 & #61 could be flipped in their order but then I looked up the thoughts and emotions. I saw the wisdom in the order Ms. Mary chose. You’ve been in my thought and prayers with all the turmoil that is being exhibited east of you. Hoping you are safe and secure along with those you influenced helping mold young minds to see the goodness in the world. I pray that you are safe and secure and that your home is a peaceful quiet sanctuary greeting you at the close of your day. It may not be much but know that I’m keeping you , my friend, in my thoughts and prayers for seeing you safely through all the turmoil outside your door. You are a good caring person, we need more like you everywhere. Please take care , keep safe and don’t let that around you dim your light. Let it be a beacon of hope to others looking for a kind word or a smile. Peace and blessings to you.
Hi from Helena MT! Yes Livingston, White Sulfur Springs and Charlie Russell skies are still here. God bless and sorry for your loss of White Kitty. Maybe some other cat will come by to adopt you. Not the same but similar.
Thank you, Mary Chapin, for all the music to help us 'stay mighty' through these very long, and sometimes spiritually dark days of the pandemic (and recent winter). Two days ago, a walking friend and I (now fully vaccinated and still wearing our masks) shared our first hug since last March. Your collective audience owes you many, many hugs for the psychic light your songs have brought us this past year.

@Jan Thomas Hi. I'm not sure whether it is my place to spread the news, but - sadly - White Kitty has passed away. I think her mom needs time and space to process, as she deserves to have. We are receiving so much from you and I believe in this Group, this is probably the smallest group of Friends who write on social media sites, I believe our attitude now will show our true selves. Your are with Angus now, in silence, you sent the message Songs From Home will return next week. Thank you for letting us know... I remember a year ago when Songs From Home popped up on my screen I saw Edinburgh was the first Episode but somehow heard one of the later but still early episodes first, and what I heard was you talking about someone who 'is asleep now' but you said 'She is fine, thank you' because somebody might have asked back then and I had two first thoughts. One was that I was glad to see you. The other was feeling worried because I heard you talking about a family member as I thought and how right that thought was, White Kitty was Family Member. Peace be with You and Your Family and thank you for letting us know♡

I love this song. So beautiful and poignant. You’re a treasure, Chapin.
Warmer in Tucson though 87 today is not what I really like. 75 is great! Then it cools down to 60's. and 40s or less at night. Love your music and being here every week, on time or not. Thank you so much!!
Thank you Mary for another wonderful songs from home ❤️
As gentle and soothing as ever. By the way folks, is it just me that copies Mary every time at the end with the "stay mighty" clenched fist thing? I just can't help myself!
Feel the love 💕 and memories with this song. Thanks 🙏🏼 for those. Came just at the right time for me 🌈😇
“I came to say goodbye and to hug you
But I wasn’t brave enough to say that
So I said See You Soon and I Love You” ....so poignantly timed and heart-stirring.......a one day road trip to Southamton Hospital a week and a half ago......uncannily echoing the identical lyrics as I prepared to exit the hospital room ...... on Friday I laid my son to rest .......I draw many common parallels to MCC's elegy to Ben ......a father, Americana musician, a victim of inescapable terminal cancer - Ben's pancreatic as opposed to Rick's glioblastoma - far too young.....R.I.P Ben, R.I.P Rick.....God Bless and thank you Mary for this moving and for me, timely song choice
Deep condolences.
Audrey Felső .....thank you kindly for your thoughts...... God Bless ......Mike
@@alt2ooning There are no words and only thoughts are left to try to help. ...God bless... Andrea
@alt2ooning.
My deepest sympathies to you!
Losing a child must be the pit of bottomless despair. I have no words other than to pray that you may receive the gift of the kind of peace that passes all understanding.
All the world is right upon hearing you each week, Mary. Thanks for the consistency. (Angus is such a good dog!)
Marry you are my absolute favorite singer writer i enjoy your music
Thank you for taking us along on your journey! Lovely!! Love to you, Angus and WK!💚🌻
Amazing isn't it how much time has passed since this all began? Kind of like one reallllly long day!! But as always so very grateful to share this time each week with your touching music, dear Mary, and all of the wonderful folks who meet up here every Sunday. (Also deep gratitude to all those who sent prayers and good thoughts for my almost 12 yr old golden, Nanda. He has regained some strength and I do believe he will be with me for a while to come. I'm so appreciative of THAT and of all of you.) Much love from Birch Bay!

Oh, wow! Wonderful news. Please give Nanda a loving pat and belly-rub on my behalf. 😍

You guys are just beautiful ! Thank you MCC and Angus
Thank you, always, always, always thank you ❣️ 💕
some Sundays it is like when you would buy a new “45” and just play it over and over...thanks...
Every time I watch you sing, a peace comes down over me. Thank you for this. Something told me to seek you out again tonight, and I am so glad I did. A very lucky, serendipitous message was in your song for me tonight. Love to yourself and to Angus.
Surprised to find myself in tears listening to this. Thank you for the depth of the love you put into your songs!
Handsome Angus - love his fluffy flag tail! Beautifully descriptive song ❤️
Beautiful, as always. That brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for another wonderful song.❤️🏡
Thank you again for these wonderful Sunday morning gifts. You have such a generous and loving heart. 💖
I miss live music so much, good to hear and see you play.
Recently too many of us have not been able to say Goodbye to old friends. Glad you had the chance.
I am surprised when your song selection is in line with what I'm thinking or feeling. My sister is 1000 miles away in a nursing/rehab center that doesn't allow visitors. Her brain cancer is progressing. We're hoping she'll be home by the end of this week with palliative care. If so, then my journey will begin to go be with her. We have many sweet memories and stories to share and I just pray for her comfort and peace. Thank you Mary - your music will be with me on the journey.
@@julesdas712 Thank you

Thank you for this beautiful musical 🎶 memorial. A comforting candle 🕯 glowing in the dark 🙏
What a great story that song tells. Thank you so much.
Thank you Mary, thank you Angus, blessed💪
Stay mighty Mary, Angus, White Kitty and all the lovely people tuning in 😊
That was a new song for my ears and I enjoyed it very much. Thanks, Mary. Have a blessed Sunday.
every song, every song, a short story.
it is always a pleasure to listen to these songs and to say thank you for the effort.
@belle starr.
👍👍
Thank you for continuing your episodes from home. I look forward to them on Sunday mornings. Give Angus and White Kity a pat on their heads from me.
'Life can only be understood backwards, but it must be lived forwards.' /Søren Kierkegard/ Working working working on it with music and mind work and with all my skills and heart that I can put into organizing the scattered pieces:-)

🌞🌵 Mary, you make Sunday even more special.
Hi from Helena MT! Yes Livingston, White Sulfur Springs and Charlie Russell skies are still here. God bless and sorry for your loss of White Kitty. Maybe some other cat will come by to adopt you. Not the same but similar.
thank you so much for this song, i felt right there with you, much love
Hello, How are you doing today? I'm Patrick.
Thank you for the goodbye song, but how wonderful you are back at home with your sweet smelling boy.
Thanks MCC!! What a lovely song about your road trip to say goodbye- your lyrics always ring so true- and spur so many thoughts and emotion. Thank you for taking us on this journey with you.Stay strong, keep the faith, stay safe.stay mighty!
What a very intimate and beautiful song Mary. Feeling you're pain.
Thanks Mary.

Hi. I'm not sure whether it is my place to spread the news, but - sadly - White Kitty has passed away.
I think her mom needs time and space to process, as she deserves to have.
I am not on any other platform, but understand that SFH may return next Sunday.
Wishing MCC the necessary quiet and peace.
Such a wonderful song.... Thank you Mary
Thank you for taking your time and sharing your wonderful songs at this point in time. We can't do anything about the pandemic but you make the load easier to bear for a lot of folks!
Beautiful! Thank you, MCC and Angus for another incredible Sunday. :) If you have a chance could you please play, "Between Here and Gone"? It's my absolute favorite song of yours. :) Thank you.
Thank you MCC for the beautiful song! I have many wonderful memories of growing up in Livingston and remember the places you mention in your song. God Bless!
Thank so much! Beautiful 🎸👏👏
That was beautiful Mary.
Dear MCC
I simply want to tell you how much I love your music. I listen to anyone who writes and plays from a special place. Copeland, Joplin{Janice or Aaron}, Seger, Buffet, Zeppelin,Lightfoot and I can go on and on.
So , the point is my dear, you have been given{and worked very hard} a beautiful rare gift to touch such a wide variety of listeners and I thank you.
Now I must continue listening to my skipping version of " Shooting straight in the Dark" and then maybe some Black Sabbath, what can I say.....Good is good.
Thanks Again so much,
Andrew Maunders
It is so wonderful to take these journeys with you - thank you❤️
A favourite of mine. Heard you play it live at your concert in St Anne's cathedral Belfast a few years back. A very special night. Thanks for the memory
Incredible the amount of time that has passed and all the changes in the world, yet my compass and my weekly anchor have found me here with you each Sunday attempting to stay mighty. Your words of encouragement and hope have been one of the bright spots for me and this wonderful community you've nurtured. Glad to have you as a trudging buddy❤ Sending love to you and your gang from CT!
Thanks Mary, Angus, & White Kitty for the music & the stories within the songs. Much appreciated xo
Love your dog he's beautiful, everytime I see him I want another dog, loved the song ,but love all your songs

Love this song. One of my favorites
I am so happy that you are on. I have some of your old CDs but just can't buy any now. You and Angus and White Kitty make my day. Thank you for continuing to entertain us and make life easier.
What a great dog, Mom's looking great too.
That was a truly lovely song. Thank you for sharing. We are all looking forward to the arrival of Spring. It is supposed to be in the 60's this week here on Long Island. Finally! Yay! It is much easier to Stay Mighty when the sun is shinning. Thank you for helping us to get through the dark winter that seemed to last all year. Here's to happier days and happy journeys. Hopefully you will keep coming into our homes every week even when we are past this!
Hi, How are you doing today? I'm Patrick.
You made my Sunday a brighter day. Thank you.
Actually, a road trip sounds like a good idea right now. But it will have to wait a little longer. Mighty good, darlin'! Big, long-distance hug (if appropriate), and hope the day will be good for you.
I've only just discovered these lovely songs from home. Mary, thank you from the one stuck in England and who just wants to get home to family in Canada. Your songs feel like home...I am so grateful to my American sister!
Hello, How are you doing today? I'm Patrick.
Thank you Mary! My Sunday is complete!
This was a tough one for me. I have been putting into words some deeply soulful loss in my life and things don't feel so easy right now. Sometimes life is so very hard. I will try to do better. Have a good day, Mary.
@Rosanne Madden.
Hang in there!
It IS a hard journey...but TOGETHER, we will get through it...?
As MCC said in on of the notes recently - ok, maybe not verbatim, but: we have not met (YET) but we ARE friends...?
DEEP breaths, and heads up!

Places that I have been to connected with songs include Grand Central Station, Charleston (the salty air perfume) and Livingston. Montana is one of the most remarkable places that I have seen.
Thank you MCC for the comfort, hope and groundedness your music brings throughout these trying times. I sure hope to see you out there when things open up. Musicians, artists, writers really are keeping the population sane White Sulphur Springs, are you playing Ants Pants in July!!!????
You have such a simple eloquence, creating images with words, evoking emotion and thought. Thank you.
What a beautiful tribute to your friend! And how very relatable the situation.

@Audrey Felső.
😍 Ah well - Namibia...!
Have you travelled there?
Yes, that is where I grew up, and that is where my sense of an utterly essential interdependence developed.
But Cape Town, RSA, has been my adopted home for the greater part of my life. AND now you will also understand my fascination with the night-skies? 😉 - NOWHERE better than in the Namib, I promise!!! ---
Is Mady/Madeline reading this?
Much concerned. And 'ShihTzu Rules' has not checked in recently, either...🤔🤔
Today's song has stirred a LOT of long-suppressed memories. Difficult, but necessary.
Should you read this, dear MCC, thank you, again. 💗
@@ursulamulder110 Dear Ursula, most importantly joining you to say thank you to MCC again..Yes, I think Madeline is reading these. Tough times like everywhere, I think I would know if there was reason for multiple concern, so for today, let us join and send the love for things to be good. Also thought of ShihTzu Rules, I hope She and the ShihTzus are all fine! Night skies, interdependence, memories difficult but necessary, beautiful & helpful thoughts of Yours♡

Golly, that was sad. Reminds me of the friend we lost in her early thirties. We all converged at the other end of the country for the funeral.
Getting another Fix. Just love ❤
My spouse and I miss John Jennings right along with you and your crew, each time we're fortunate enough to share an auditorium with you.
Once again - thank you!
Dear MCC, I am writing here hoping You read, silently hoping Friends also read. Maybe I will become like the line in Dylan's song you sang..., in Don't Think Twice, and I will be 'child I'm told' but I would like to share something. I read on your IG and fb page that after 19 years, this week you had to say Farewell to White Kitty, your Girl, your Best Friend, Angus's Best Friend, our Soul Companion over the past year. Peace be with You and Your Family and thank you for letting us know♡
@Audrey Felső
That is truly sad news.
WK will remain in every fan's memory.
@Mary Chapin Carpenter
Another sad goodbye.
My deepest sympathies, dear Mary Chapin - may White Kitty's soul be at peace. She will be greatly missed.
Sending sympathy and much love.
