The irony of Farrels tackle on Esterhuisen compared to what we see now. It's simple: the message is, if your tackle technique is wrong, too high, head on the wrong side or potentially could have resulted in head contact It's a red card. These are the new standards in tackling and a very worth-while lesson that teams will take onboard because there will be no mitigation, this was not long ago still just a rugby incident, need to evolve with the game.
He never made contact head to head, the guy hit his head in the ground, I disagree with, people like you are the problem wiht what rugby is becoming. Peole like you should go watch football, there's plenty of guys faking being hurt, you'll be fine at home there.
You are BLIND...There is no Head contact. Player Actually Hits his head on the Ground. But seeing as you are clearly in need of Glasses you probably will not see that even if it was slowed down for you. Go have a Slow long look
I agree with Rassie comment... Springboks can't win a World Cup with play accidentally or not ...discipline most important... God bless our Team Springboks Beatrix Strydom
Head on head contact with concussion is EXACTLY what they are trying to remove from the game - hence the current law changes - players such as this silly centre must learn to adopt their tackling height to avoid these potential brain injuring hits - if they fail to do so they get red cards - get with the programme or suffer these consequences - - simple as - keep up, it’s 2024 and it’s the law!
So you also smoke that funny stuff Must rugby be like that funny game they play in the usa and tell all players to wear that stupid protection gear as well
Nothing wrong with the upper bodies clashing. Nothing wrong with the arms wrapped in the tackle. The problem here is that the tackling player’s head clashes with the ball carriers head - and that’s NOT allowed. It’s a simple rule.
Poor refereeing decision have a huge impact on results. How does a person, considering how humans are built, head on shoulders, not make head contact when tackling an opponent around the shoulders. Perhaps rugby should be relegated to touch rugby.
, “These decisions are very difficult ones to decide on, but it is quite simple when you decide on what you actually have seen. So, if you feel that it is head contact, then you do have a pretty clear straightforward red card - we have a player who's on the ground and unconscious. “To wrap it up, the officials on the day felt that they had enough, that there was head contact and therefore we have landed up with a red card.” Nigel Owens.
This happens when school boys play international tests, they are not strong enough to withstand a mild tackle. He would have been dead if tackled by Joggie Jansen.
As a saffa, red was correct. We all know that making a upright tackle carries the risk of your shoulder or head to make contact with the opponents head. Esterhuizen made a piss poor tackle and paid the price. No qualms from my side. Tackle better. Remove the risk of head yo head contact and you will be fine. Its the law unfortunately and we have to play within them.
Absolute Crap Decision. Ref and Bunker Staff was a Terrible Call and Was not head on head. Player hit his head on the Ground. Could have hit his head on the Ground even if it was lower tackle
Literally... They reffing try hard out of rugby. Soon it will be like league, where it's better to just let people score a try than tackle them out of desperation. All this is bs because if you're trying hard to stop someone with their momentum ANUTHING CAN HAPPEN. So you're discrediting the team's and players that put their bodies on the line for their country. No more hard tackling 12s. May as well just have 4 wings.
At last referees are punishing SA for dirty play. Your favorite rev Barnes is retired who overlook your dirty play he always made unfair decisions punishing the other team. Shoe is on the other foot now

Actually, Joe Marler is correct. Shameful decision. Rugby is a contact sport. The tackle was not in malice.
Marler u beaut,can always trust on u brother!🤝💪💪🙌👌🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Red Card was an utterly ridiculous decision.
Tackle was legal. Initial contact was shoulder on shoulder
Don't forget he also got a 4 match ban 😱.so its supposed to be deemed worse than Farel tackle?

How much stricter can they get. Maybe just play touch rugby!
I don’t see their heads touching. The knockout came when the Porro hit the ground
Get the right angle.
Their heads didnt clash
He made head contact and never made a bold enough attempt to dip ,bad discipline I agree with red card

I don't like that ref, she sniffs too much, it's quite irritating to watch
What is it with raffie
What the standard of ref have become & world rugby allows........

Hmm. If I made a law that everyone calls you a tool, and enforce it, do you have a right to complain, tool?
So you also smoke that funny stuff

It was a hard arms wrapped around shoulder tackle..maybe a yellow( if that) but never a red card.

As a pro, you should know better than get into a head to head tackle. The shoulder came first but the whiplash was head to head. Dangerous.
I am a Springbok fan and the red card was warranted, end of story.
No head contact.
What does it help to complain ? Does not change anything !

Hahah nooo the takle was a rugby incident guys really if it was soo bad what about so much worse takle not a yellow card even

Anything to bring the boks down. Not a red Card. They want to take out the physicality of the sport
