Betty Buckley was perhaps the finest Norma Desmond that ever was. During her Broadway engagement of SUNSET BOULEVARD, would receive numerous standing ovations while the show was in progress, rarely seen except for exceptions such as Jennifer Holliday (DREAMGIRLS) and Bette Midler (HELLO, DOLLY!).
Thank you much for uploading this treasure, and sharing it with the world. This is probably my favorite video of Ms. Buckley's rendition. I just love the steady camera work. Thank you so much!
I saw both Glenn Close and Betty on Broadway. Hands down Betty was the definitive Norma. Obviously her vocal skills are far superior. While Glenn Close is a tremendous actress she was more of a caricature than a character. Betty evoked tremendous empathy for Norma while at times it was hard not to laugh at Glenn's overly exaggerated mannerisms.
Every note captures every emotion. Brilliant. I’ve seen Ms Buckley in Sunset Boulevard 5 times. Incredible gift!!!
Incredible voice! She really makes her mark on this character! Love Betty Buckley!💐💐💐💐💐
The Very Pretty and Extremely Talented Betty Buckley is always Excellent!

BLB is the Greatest star of all!!!
She is the best Norma Desmond ......
"HOOOOOME"👀👀👀
no question buckley is far greater here than...the others....
Vocally she’s better, but Glenn acts the hell out of this character.

@@mchandaltx exactly how I feel. Elaine page is even worse
@@benjaminjackson9449 I agree. Anyone who says she is a "caricature" does not understand who Norma Desmond is
