    Definitely trying this! I love a good curry chicken! I love how you explain the way that the different cooking techniques enhance flavor! This is way more than just a how to cooking channel! Tons of information and cooking tips. From how to cut the whole chicken to the different methods of cooking the dish, to the extended knowledge of spices and how each ingredient compliments each other! I expect to see you on the next season of Master Chef! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

    Back in '80, I was grocery shopping with my dad, when he saw me pick up a pre-cut chicken. He told me to put it back, and picked up a whole chicken. He showed how much cheaper it was to buy a whole chicken..except back then, I didn't know how to cut up a chicken. We went back to his apartment where he taught me how to cut up a chicken into 'recognizable' parts. I still use how he taught me when I roast chickens... It was the British that used the term 'curry' to describe any dishes with a sauce seasoned with spices..Not all curries are the same, as you pointed out...I cook a lot of Thai red curry with chicken, stewed in coconut milk. I use a popular red canned curry paste..I grill jerk chicken, and pan fry green plantains in coconut oil. I slice them into 1/4" pieces, fry until soft, remove from the pan, and smash down, and do a second fry. This makes them tostones, I season them with cumin and pepper...But my wife likes ripe plantains (maduros), I again cut them in 1/4" slices and pan fry until golden brown. She sprinkles pie spice over them. We have an awesome Mexican Mkt just minutes away, and they have the plantains in various stages of ripeness..

    You have educated me on using curry seasoning. The chicken is not overcooked. Now I know why I have seen the drumsticks cut in that way. Delicious meal. Thanks again, Chef, for sharing.

    There's complimentary flavors, and textures here. I've only fried bananas as a dessert. I love plantains. There's also South African hot curry. I love curry chicken and rice also. Great dish!

    I've had all kinds of curry but no one does curry like Trinidad! (My op). However it's always good to see variations on any dish. Your curried chicken looks yummilicious! 👊Green bananas are a good side dish boiled in skin then skin removed then sauteed with garlic olive oil and salt! Thanks for sharing! 👍🏽 Dee, NY

    Thank you for the information about curry. The idea of mixing other spices with your curry is beneficial. This is a delicious-looking meal. This tutorial gave me some good ideas bout cooking with curry. Some ppl cook with curry and add a little too much. Interesting way to cut the drumsticks. Will definitely try this. Never thought of using green bananas. I always try to find plantains. Everything is on point...🙂

    When sharpening the knife, do I have to keep it at an angle to avoid it chipping or anything?

    • @bbqsouthernstyle
      @bbqsouthernstyle  Місяць тому +1

      I would start on a very very dull knife to get the feel. Just to get practice. But yes the angel has to be right. Something you need to practice every day.
