Bella bella was my favorite fishing/crabing spot for many years when lived in karratha/port hedlands spent 15 years in pilbara, whim ck pub was good pub before took over by mine out back, easter time we spend 4 days at bella 8/9 mates, crabbing was tops, get 40 muddies in day then chase barra and jacks.yes and there croc in system saw couple over years.
Thanks for the comment, stopped a Balla Balla a few times over the years for a look, but this was the first time I’ve camped, loved getting to know the place, the one muddy we caught was beaut. Had a couple of beers at the pub one time when it was open, grand old hotel, they don’t build ‘em like that anymore, shame it shuts up shop mostly now. Glad we didn’t see any crocs, not to say they weren’t there, was happy to see the turtles and a Dugong.
That big rope was my cyclone mooring. The blue drum and metal pole / loop looks to be missing? 🤷♂️ You do know there’s saltwater crocs in the estuary, right? 🙄 That big rock is DePuch Island, it’s an ancient volcano basalt plug, tens of thousands of Aboriginal petroglyphs engraved into the rocks over there. Also a couple of engravings from 1840, when the HMS Beagle called in and re-provisioned the ship with fresh water from Bynoes water hole up on the top of the rock also. We lived on Westmoore Island next door to DePuch Island for a year in 2007/8 managing the Pearl farm & charter fishing lodge on the island. Used to tie the boat up to the cyclone mooring & go shopping to Karratha each 3 weeks or so for shopping. Great spot if you have a boat and can get outside the river mouth to DePuch Island & explore the rest of the Forestier group of islands around it. Brough back some nice memories. Thanks for that. 👍👍👍
Wow, thanks for the info, the blue drum and stainless pole are still nearby where we camped, you’ve answered some questions we were wondering about, there were a few people on a shark cat went out to an Island and camped for a week just after we arrived, heard there were crocs about but didn’t see any, not to say they weren’t there. Would love to take a boat up end explore.
MAGNIFICENT" CREATION! THANX 4 POSTING!

Wagon wheels probably used as moring. Is Whim Creek pub still closed.
Yeah unfortunately, only stayed there once while the pub was open, was a great night, still has a caretaker looking after it.
Do you get to Balla Balla Opp whim creek pub I’m sure I went there in the 70s camping
Yeah that’s right, beaut place once you explore and work out the tides. Good exercise walking through the mud.
