It was just a matter of time. AI is going to be used in almost everything nowadays. Sadly, it will also be used for nefarious purposes also. NASCAR will use AI as a tool. Not to run the program.
The problem is that fans have no idea how AI works. It is software #1. A human, a Programmer writes the code to create the software which develops what if's, which is what NASCAR is looking at. They put in a scenario, and the software gives a possible outcome. So, I am not sure if they are looking at entering a whole season into the software as a database, but that is what it sounds like, then, the software would hopefully give them the best schedule. Then, they can tweak it and rerun the program which will give them another possible schedule. Hopefully, from that they get something they believe will work and based on the TV contracts, sponsors, etc. it could be 3-4 years away before the change is implemented. Attendance will play into the AI's result. Congrats to Kyle Larson and I am looking forward to the Chili Bowl!!!! Waiting for Kyle Busch's race in the Sprint Car and hoping he at least finishes. He looked good in his test and he is a quick learner in a non-wing sprint, although not up to Larson's caliber. Could he beat Deegan? Possibly!!!
It's very hypocritical that they have the audacity to dismiss thier own fans, drivers and teams as bots and yet here they are using what is essentially a bot. Also it's very obvious what REAL nascar fans really want. There's no need for an complex strategy that requires ai to figure what fans want. 'Obtuse' pretty much best describes Nascar's management.
The track was amazing. The coolest thing is there was no flagstand or flagman. They have a booth and do it all electronically.. I was surprised he hadn't won in sprints. He won a ton of midget shows. If you are a race fan and don't have Flosports, I feel bad for you.
People hate things they do not understand almost as much as they hate change. Instead of using the very contentious term AI they should have said they were going to wargame various scenarios.
ARTIFCIAL INTELLIGENCE MAKES A SUGGESTION TO NASCAR..... Since existing fans hate the playoffs and the rules are complex and confusing to new fans and indeed alienates some potential fans, lets be reasonable and rethink the whole idea. The playoffs have not accomplished your goals of keeping fans from turning over to watch the NFL at the end of NASCAR's season. Whle ratngs are up, they have not increased on par with other major American sports and indeed F1 has increased it's fan base at a much greater rate. The only thing the current format has appeared to accomplish is fewer phony debris cautions because of stage breaks. So NASCAR$, I think it's time to ask ourselves a question........Just why are we continuing to repeat the same action over and over and expect different results? Why do we keep trying to tweek a failure into success?
Humans failed us every time we look at history. Maybe ai would keep us from going on a "power trip" ... never know... ai may be the best world leader....
For the traditionalists like me, NASCAR needs to go back to something like their Winston points. I would modify it to where the winner gets more of a boost. Let's say there were 50 drivers. The winner gets 50 points plus a certain number for winning. Second place gets 49 + a certain number for getting a top five. Do that for the rest of the top five. Then somebody likes in 6th place gets 45 and a no bonus points. You don't have to call them bonus points. Just add it to the number. You get extra bonus for leading the most laps. I also think that average running position should factor in also. What's a you ran fifth the whole race and on the last lap you wrecked out got last, I think you should still get something for running well. Now, that might get too confusing so just simple points for finishing position is more than fine. If NASCAR really has to have a stupid playoff or chase format, I would say the last 10 races it needs to be like the original chase format. Top 10 guys in points gets in. We don't need it to be watered down with 16 or 14 drivers. No eliminations. The person with the best 10 races wins. But none of this will happen. NASCAR will do something stupid like usual. They will do just enough to make some stupid fans happy while most of us will be annoyed. It's like cutting your salary from $100,000 to $40,000. Then Nascar tries to fix it by offering you $50k. Most incompetent racing leadership.
@johnhaas2523 Nascar CUCK John Haas responds. Good racing is entertainment. Your argument is like telling the UFC to act like the WWE because of entertainment. Lol. Also NASCAR is less popular than what it was 20 years ago
Hey NASCAR why don't you listen to your fans who made your sport awesome instead of listening to ai and just get rid of the playoffs and give us back the Winston cup points or the 10 race chase for the cup like in 2004 i mean this ridiculous NASCAR and quit calling people bots because we don't like your stupid playoff format these are real people and have the get 900 horsepower and just listen to your fans for once you guys were a awesome sport to watch but because of the whole state of the sport thing and what happened at Martinsville and Joey logano winning the championship where in Winston cup points he's 14th in points you guys are making you're own sport harder to be a fan of for everyone.
I would say make it like the old Winston system except for give more points for the guys at finish up front and a bigger bonus for the guy that wins. Not so much of a bonus that he just goes and wrecks people but just enough of an incentive. I agree with you. If they need to have a stupid 10 Race thing at the end of the year, the original Chase is better than what we have now. But let's be real. NASCAR will not do that. They are just going to make a modified playoff system like they have now. It will be slightly better than what it is now but will still be a gimmick and will annoy people. In terms of horsepower I could see NASCAR bumping up just a little bit of power to make some of the dumb fans happy but it will be very underwhelming for most of us. There will be one or two good races where they can brag and say "see, this is as good as 950hp". When in reality these drivers need more power than they can handle. Let the drivers figure it out. They also need a tire with less grip and by that I mean like an older tire like they had a few years ago. What Nascar will do though is they will push us off onto Goodyear instead of realizing that an overly wide tire isn't good for this form of racing. NASCAR isn't actually going to fix anything, they will just keep pissing off people like me and you.
So tired of the bs and drama surrounding this corporation, seriously over them. Congrats Kyle Larson

Ai has no place in NASCAR
Sure it does just as F1 uses it as a tool
LOL, every team is already using it. I take it you have zero knowledge of what AI actually is.

Way to go Kyle!! Let’s keep this winning streak going into 2025!🎉
I’m not really sure what Allen Iverson can do about the playoff format tbh
AI is smooth brains.🧠
