      You forgot to post which version of FSD you have currently. You have v13 but which version of it are you using? You should post that in every video. Even if you don't include it in the Video Title, at least include it in the description.

      @@heromiIes excellent point! I have been putting the versions in previous videos but did not include it in this one. Just updated the title. Thank you so much for the callout here. I really appreciate it.

      Well its 8K now, or $99 a month. 1200 a year X 5 years = 6K. I would not use it continuously for 5 years, but rather only need it if going on a long road trip, etc. It is also NOT transferable except for rare occasions. I typically only keep a car for around 5 years before getting a new one (Yes Tesla will likely be different.) I would need to own the same car for over 7 years for it to even be close to worth it buying FSD outright. It being not transferable also means I run the risk of getting into an accident and LOSING FSD along with my car. For me, if you want FSD subscription is the only way to go.

    As an older driver this is awesome. I just bought my first Tesla, a Model Y with fsd. I am blown away by how good it is. It drives better than I do most of the time, though it still makes a few mistakes. I drove it all over Albuquerque and northern New Mexico. I didn't trust it on ice but it worked great most everywhere else. It was going too fast for local laws so I had to limit it to the actual speed limit. I highly recommend it for older and impaired drivers.

      How is it driving around Albuquerque? I hear it’s beautiful out there.

      Hearing if you have Tesla insurance and use FSD one get a cut in your monthly rate enough to pay the $99 fee, might be worth to check it out.

    it keeps getting better and better. V13.2.2 is really good, and I think it is learning very fast. I haven't received any over the air upgrades (I don't think, anyway), but now it handles the gates on my community. it didn't at first, but after a couple of interventions it does. amazing

    One of the biggest drawbacks to FSD right now is it doesn't see debris in the road. Throw a bunch of 2x4s in the road and it will run right over them doesn't even think about slowing down.and speed bumps. I was told the car does not see things below the bumper. If your going downhill there is a chance the car can see something is the road but on a flat our uphill road no.

    Valuation is freaking hard. Because no other vehicle has this. Waymo has their own thing, but you cannot buy a Waymo with all that sensors and everything. I think $99/month is good but they should reduce the buy-out price for a typical ownership time. Like if, on average, people tend to use their Tesla’s for 5 years, just make it 5 years x $99 = ~$6k buy-out price.

    • @DriveElectricToday
      @DriveElectricToday  Місяць тому +1

      I completely agree. $6k for an average lifecycle of 5 years for a car makes perfect sense. Much more reasonable.

    • @KSBond007
      @KSBond007 Місяць тому

      @@DriveElectricTodayNow that you can transfer ownership to next one you buy makes sense to buy outright and the cost would distribute over a long time not 5 years

    Thank you for your video review of FSD. I have just started doing the 30 day trial of FSD 13.2.2 using STANDARD mode profile. The first small trip I did, FSD did 2 disengagements where one not sure why it did it, and the 2nd was a exit parking lot error. My other 2 small trips went good with no issues. So far version 13.2.2 is allot better than previous version 12.5.6. Still not perfect.
    I will still NOT get FSD after my trial is complete. Reason, I am retired and on a fixed income. I need that 99 dollars per month FSD subscription money for other necessities. I want to see where the Economy is going Under Trump and I feel things are going to increase and get worse in 2025 under this new Regime. I also feel FSD is a luxury item. I am physically capable of driving my Tesla vehicle myself. The short daily trips I do around town does not require my car to drive itself. So for right now, FSD is a NO GO for me. If I was still working and younger, I would probably get the feature.
    If FSD ever becomes free for everyone to use is the only time I would think about using it.
    Happy New Year to everyone.

    The car stopping to let the other car cross in front of you is dangerous, you had an open lane on your left, I have seen many cars getting T-Boned because the car coming down the left lane cannot see that car coming out. If you were in a single lane that may be ok but how Tesla handled that was wrong & dangerous!

    • @DriveElectricToday
      @DriveElectricToday  Місяць тому +3

      That is actually a great point. Looking at it from that perspective, I can absolutely see this situation can cause a rather large problem. Perhaps FSD should prioritize itself first rather than letting others by if there is a double lane. Single lanes might be a bit safer.

      @roxyu3384 Місяць тому +2

      Yes giving away your right away in this kind of situation is always dangerous… especially letting pedestrians (kids) over the street is highly dangerous…. Because they are getting „forced“ to cross the road and any vehicle that passes you or oncoming traffic could hit them…

      I will do the same as what FSD did in this situation..but only if after checking my mirrors that there was no car immediately approaching in the outer lane, close enough to cause any risk to the emerging vehicle.
      It would be interesting to know if the FSD algorithms and cameras were doing the exact same thing that I would do as a regular driver..

    I think at $100 a month and being able to sub and unsub when and if you want to use it makes it pretty enticing.
    I live in rural Pennsylvania, and have no idea how FSD would actually perform in my area. An $8000 gamble would be crazy, but I would absolutely try it out for a few months to decide how I like it for $100 a month.

    Can FSD do better? yes, but as of now I think it worth, considering it pretty much replace me as a driver 95% of the time.

    Also, you need to subscribe to the FSD for ~6 years to balance the buy-out price. I still think it’s cheap but maybe subscription is better for you, if you plan to sell it, because I don’t think you can add $8k to the selling price. People still don’t value it that much

    • @DriveElectricToday

    In terms of subscription price, if it's $99 a month, then I think it should be subscribe-to-own. Like after 8 years of subscribing for $99/m you should be able to own it afterwards.

    It wasn’t stopping to let the car cross because there was more than two car lengths to the Toyota. It took it as Collision avoiding move.
    If I was riding with a human driver that made the stupid mistakes that FSD does I would certainly at least offer to drive .

    FSD is not currently worth it. It still cannot do basic things such as reading road signs, and it cannot go for even 1 hour in a busy big city without interventions.

      Using fsd is a skill that I think is well worth learning. I find it much less stressful driving with it than without it. But I am older and have lost a few steps. I used to enjoy driving but now I would rather be a passenger. And the cost is not an issue for me. I haven't had any accidents or close calls yet but a singe accident could be devastating. Compared to that the cost of fsd is nothing.

      An older person who has slowed down and maybe has longer reaction times is NOT the person to be supervising a buggy FSD software program. The human must be able to jump in and take control in a split second. Not so easy for the older folks.
