Delhi's Water Minister Atishi has supported Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's claim that the Yamuna River has become so polluted that converting it into potable water has become nearly impossible. She also stated that the water crisis in Delhi is worsening as the toxic state of the river has made water treatment difficult. Due to this issue, the city's water supply has also been reduced.
Delhi's Water Minister Atishi targeted Haryana over the "toxic" water in the Yamuna River, alleging that when the river enters Delhi from the neighboring state, the ammonia levels are six times higher than normal, making it impossible to treat the water. She has written to the Election Commission, seeking intervention in the matter.
A day after AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal accused the BJP-ruled Haryana government of contaminating the Yamuna River with "poison," the BJP strongly reacted, and the Haryana government threatened legal action against his statement. The Delhi Jal Board dismissed Kejriwal's claims as "factually incorrect and misleading."
Delhi's Water Minister Atishi claimed that the water entering Delhi from Haryana is "highly toxic" and impossible to treat, making it dangerous to human health. She stated that the ammonia levels in Yamuna water are six times higher than normal, rendering it unfit for drinking. Atishi urged the Election Commission to intervene in the issue and prevent the entry of toxic water into Delhi. She also requested an urgent meeting with the commission.
In her letter, Delhi's Water Minister Atishi mentioned that the Delhi Jal Board's water treatment plants can process ammonia levels up to 1 PPM, but the water coming from Haryana has ammonia levels 700% above the treatment capacity. Due to this, the city's water supply has decreased by 15-20%.

अपने पत्र में दिल्ली की जल मंत्री आतिशी ने बताया कि दिल्ली जल बोर्ड के जल शोधन संयंत्र 1 पीपीएम तक के अमोनिया स्तर को उपचारित कर सकते हैं, लेकिन हरियाणा से आने वाले पानी में अमोनिया का स्तर उपचार सीमा से 700% अधिक है। उन्होंने बताया कि इस कारण शहर में पानी की आपूर्ति 15-20% तक कम हो गई है।
