I got a 94 svt built making 390 hp and 430 torque got 4.10 gears as well I get no grip in first I take off in second that way I don’t. Spin so much and plus first gear is so high ya don’t get much speed out of it and you can’t grab traction on launch and I pull a way. Better 0 to 60 in sec gear
A shorter shifter handle will let you shift faster! Also always power shift! I have a supercharger on my 99 gt and Everytime I run the 1/4 I power shift and I have never missed a gear. It takes practice but once you get it then you're good to go
@@sawyercrosby3710 As long as you find one that was taken care of and not abused they're good cars. You're best move would be to try to find one that's mostly original.
@@brianspangler3771 that’s exactly what I wanna hear. I’m actually chasing down a bone stock ‘97 cobra. Hopefully it’ll be mine in a few weeks. No rust, low miles, I’d be the 3rd registered owner if I can snag it. The only thing is the paint is kinda rough, seller says it is from sitting in the sun. But mechanically it looks great!
@@ZacWade hi thank you for letting me know that my car has the same setup as yours you know pretty much 14 gears it's been tuned on two headers loudmouth exhaust and I'm anxious to see what they're doing a quarter mile but I don't know what to go with with clutch wise I'm thinking about maybe going with a Street extreme made by McLeod
If you cant get that air filter into the fenderwell via say buying a JLT cold air kit which will give it a straight shot into your fenderwell, at least try to fashon some sort of shield to keep filter from sucking in hoy underhood engine heat, snd your fan wash could play a negative role. Trying to through ideas out there. I hope you come back here, springs back!
Just picked up a bone stock 97 Cobra. Keeping things simple with adding exhaust, shifter, and gears. Went with 4.30’s, but haven’t installed yet. May I ask why the 4.10’s over the 4.30 or even 4.56 if the plan was 12 second unmodded engine?
Luckiduc13 yeah I like to go on cruises and I was afraid anything over 410s would be too much on the highway. I also want to boost eventually and read that going above 410 with boost was not smart
Went 4.56 on my 01 cobra. Best decision I could’ve made! Motors happy now and RPMs are still low enough to cruise on highway . Stock tires are 25.5 and easily could go to 28 if you go forced induction to add mph per gear
If you change the clutch be sure to change the throw out bearing sleeve they have a habit of breaking off I had it happen to me on my 97 cobra my wife was driving it when it happened she was not running it hard it still drove fine just had a terrible noise like the throw out bearing was locking up I would love to add some cams and 373 gears to mine and see what it would do I like the content keep it up and good luck
Getting radials, upper and lower control arms, and 70/30 and 50/50 struts/shocks and a little practice launching and shifting you should be in the 12’s pretty easy. I watched you vid series and saw where you mentioned maximum motorsports but they’re more road racing than drag racing. UPR has more drag racing focused stuff. I’m guessing you’re going to be drag racing quite a bit so I’d suggest going to at least adjustable uppers if not both. I had a 98 cobra white with tan interior too. 5.0tussin is a good channel if you don’t watch As far as setting up cars to drag race.
U have good mph if you had traction maybe 1.7 60’ 8.4 1/8. 13.0 1/4. Those 4.6’s can take some rpms. I got a foxbody with a few simple bolt ons and I’m going 14.20 @ 98 9.2- 1/8. 2.2. 60’ not bad for 225hp. Watching your car pull with those 4.10’s made my mind up to get 4.10’s I already have 3.73’s I was going to put on but I’ll be running full slicks next year and think 4.10’s would leave a lot better. If everything holds my goal is low 13’s. Get some et streets and let her eat. 💪🏻
UPDATE!! Watch my LASTEST RUN at the 1/4 mile after a TUNE!: ua-cam.com/video/FycSMUtBJco/v-deo.html

Barking 4th gear!? So awesome man!! Great job!
Thanks man!
Might be the video I need to swap in 4.10s in my '98 Cobra, Thanks for the video, and good runs.
You won’t regret it!
Don’t fear the gear fam
Good job man 👍
Thanks!
BBK upper and lowers? Rear control arms?
Yes sir
Went to the comments to find exactly this lol just got bbk lt and x mid today lol
Dang man chirped in 4th
What size tires
I ve always had an affinity for these early cobras. I owned two 98 s myself, a bright Atlantic blue and a tri black
How was reliability on them? Im thinking of getting one and want to know what to expect?

Solid 2nd run there. Shifting well done. Love it! 🤜🤛
Scratches rubber in all 4 gears
Great run I'm getting ready to put a clutch in my 97 Cobra I was just wondering what clutch is in your Cobra if you don't mind me asking..
Not sure honestly. It felt aftermarket but the guy I bought it from didn’t know

Pretty good runs for sure... Blue cars, left lane... bad 🤣🤣
Yeah they weren’t lucky in that lane!

What rpm are you about at 70mph
Idk like 2700 2900, I don’t pay too much attention
Those are good times considering you were running street tires. By the way did you bark 4th gear?
Thanks man! Yes I did
@@ZacWade he sure did 😂
What altitude and temps was this run at if you could guess? Cause ive seen stock auto gt's run the same as your previous best.
I ran an 8.8 in my 96 cobra with 4.11 gears sct tune and long tune headers ..
Alright
Scratchin 4th
Damn mines chirps first and second, hopefully with 4.10s ill be chirping 3 and forth too
Could shave some more time off with a softer compound on the rear

I may have missed it, but what was your old gear ratio?
Mike Boatwright stock cobra gears i think it was 3.26

Good numbers but needs better tire. SVT powaa baby 💪
put a 8.5 bias ply tire and do a 5 to 6k dump it will run 12s easy watch my vids
What size tires
