Brother John you can also quick fry meat then apply slice cheese to it and toast bread on side of it then add slaw mixture to it and addi other slice of bread toast both sides so meat is slightly grilled and cheese melted more. So sandwich more deli like cooked. See how you like it that way!!! Mmmmm Good !! I think. Just a different method to same ingredients. But more refined sandwich. 😁🙏
I made these for my husband today 2-9-2022 I made them open faced. Used a spinner to remove the liquid from the sauerkraut then mixed the dressing in. That works so well. Lightly toast the bread, place cheese on top then the pastrami on top, add the kraut mixture and more cheese. Put under the broiler and bon appetite. I wanted to send you the end result, but don’t see where I can do that. When I visit in October, I’ll bring a photo🤣
Thank you Brother John for this lovely cooking lesson. I so enjoyed watching! It was fun to see Father John Paull join you for the sandwich. God Bless you!
About the comment on Reuben vs Rachel, I believe any time you change something about a Reuben the new sandwich is called a Rachel. My favorite Rachel (from Ken's Deli in Bedford, Massachusetts) is made with corned beef, but instead of sauerkraut they use coleslaw mixed with French dressing. Tasty! Your sandwich looks great too! How great is God to give us tasty food and the imagination to try new recipes!
Thank you for the recipe. I will try your version using pastrami instead of corned beef and by mixing sauerkraut with the dressing before hand, rather than adding it separately . I suggest draining sauerkraut before mixing with dressing. We don’t want it soggy. Yummy!
I lived in Traverse City Michigan for years, and I loved The Cherry Festival. Every other year we had the Blue Angels, which was exciting, but another pleasure was the T.C. Reuben. What made it the Traverse City Reuben was the dried cherries that were added. Very delicious.
Love this segment. Will try your recipe.

Great cooks. God bless you all at the Friery.
Wosh I could have one.
My favorite sandwich !!
I’ve never tasted a Reuben sandwich but it certainly looks tasty. Maybe one of these days. Appreciate the recipe 😋
He could have stopped at the pastrami and Swiss for me.
