Just seeing all characters from Left 4 Dead 2 are much powerful than characters at Back 4 Blood. Lol Just look how L4D2 characters use meelees or bash, how they powerful and priercing they are
One thing I've noticed: L4D characters feel like genuine survivors, their dialogue always matches the situation they're in. B4B characters always try to sound badass or something. The entire time I kept thinking "why won't you stop talking".
Imagine having to spend an actual zombie apocalypse in the company of that annoying woman from B4B who is always thinking of something "clever" or "funny" to say.
Thank you, finally someone also mentioning the lack of actual interaction between characters. Most of B4B interaction are a simple 'quirky' one liner. Characters hardly even commented when teammates are down/died
it's like they don't even acknowledge they're in an apocalypse a world in chaos but just trying to think of what quirky things to say to sound interesting
that one time one of the B4B cast (dont know the character) started talking about her seeing her family get killed by zombies. OH MY GOD SHUT UP WE ARE LITERALLY TRYING TO KILL ZOMBIES
To me the characters in L4D is iconic, like Ellis telling random stories at the worst timing, Coach being the guy that tries to find food everywhere he goes. And their lines are also iconic snd funny.
L4d2 still has the crown -This game was made 13 years ago -The music makes the player really hyped up like the sound effects of a horde or the music effect on encountering a special zombie making it unique -Shows the environment what has happened very recently after the outbrake -Each character has its own unique personality -They focused at the gameplay first rather than the graphics -Can interact almost any object -Each weapon has its own effect -They don't spawn the gun in the same place every time making it more challenging -Huge maps -Minigames -The weather changes -Has better physics -All the campaigns are connected -The ending always has its own different way like walking or defending -Always have unexpected hordes or tanks making it fun -If you buy the 2, you get to play both 1 and 2 -Great storyline -You can cheat to have more fun -Custom maps -Very good voicelines -They spawn random alarm cars to make it more fun -Bread
Yeah I cant blame you its been so good for so long but im very interested to see what the rest of B4B is like I dont mean I like it more than L4D2 100% its because its not fully released yet (Actually how did HS Top get into versus mode...?)

no real RNG involved either, all weapons are to some degree viable and you never feel like you got screwed over too unfairly, L4D's Director just does this well at making each run feel unique and _fun._
@@simplysmiley4670 - there's still RNG somewhat, but that's depending on the situation you're in. In example, health kits/pills would appear more if your team is having a hard time dealing with the infected, stronger weapons will appear if you've been having a hard time dealing with Special Infected, and there are times where a laser sight would spawn at any point in a map.
@@Pluvillion that's actually one of the things that makes L4D such a blast to play and have immense replay value....no playthrough is the same everything is randomized depending on the player's performance I really want that feature on other games
B4B tries to look badass with characters trying to look like the cool kids in an apocalypse, while L4D feels like genuinely trying to survive extinction with characters having fear but also determination as they look for temporary safety
In a more simpler terms, B4B are like kids trying to look cool and badass but failing while L4D are those dudes just show up and you immediately know that they mean business.
When L4D trying to survive and having fear at the same time makes them the real badass.. while B4B trying too hard to be it makes them sounds so cringe
I'd be much more intimidated by the ogre if it could more effectively remove the player from indoor areas. Where it stands right now, the meta is so go inside and poke at it until it leaves cause the ogre cant really hurt you if your smart about it
Left 4 Dead 2 is better then some of the Resident Evil games. And I agree the Tank and the Witch are far more terrifying than this games special zombies. If you are in an enclosed small area with the Tank you are screwed. And if you are not paying attention to where you are walking and walk into a Witch you Are also equally screwed.
My issue with B4B is that I feel it’s trying a bit too hard, what I loved about L4D was how it was simple yet fun, I didn’t have to think about loadouts or perks, I just grabbed the nearest gun and had a fun time, B4B also fails to make the special zombies feel, well “special”, I get that they are mutations just like in the originals but the previous ones had so much personality, from the clothes they were wearing to the piano tune that would play when you encounter them. The game was frantic and a insane, that’s what made it fun for me.
yeah, I do think that the l4d, concept is very good, if they can make the gamestyle more like the last of us it would be very perfect, but im not saying that they should remove the arcade style gameplay aspect of l4d, no cause its one of the most uniqueness of l4d, but im saying that the storyline will be more story telling when its played like the last of us, cause its too naive to think that nostalgic feeling is a good concept but its not, its just nostalgic but its nothing special for new people, I just hope they make a really good storytelling gameplay for l4d even if they make a remake for those games, I just want the gameplay to be like last of us or REsident evil 2 reamake or, something like days gone, cause those games are survival games that has survival gameplay but in l4d its a survival game but it does not feel like a survival gameplay its just an arcade game
B4B is just soulless. It lacks the details what made L4D so special, even when most of the players never actively saw them or focused on them they still made an important impact. The devil lays in the detail or in the words of Harry S. Plinkett "you might not notice it, but your brain did"
The special infected in B4B just felt unbalanced and what I mean by that is the fact that the crushers are way too easy to kill for being up close and personal but then there’s the stingers which bind you in place which basically leave you for dead (no pun intended) if a teammate doesn’t instantly help you and that was really just one example
@@iamfriendly6483 Comparing L4D with Last of Us is not just the way to go my man.. Last of Us was story driven, it was a game that really relied on the strategic mechanic and cinematic cutscenes. L4D also has a story but its 4-player coop survival gameplay is what really made it sell. Adding more unnecessary complexities would really change the soul of the game.
So many things about Left 4 Dead 2 are ahead of its time: the sound effects, the gore, the gameplay, the aesthetics... While all that of Back 4 Blood feel like they're of an old CoD game Activision couldn't care less about.
Using examples from this video itself isn't hard, either. In L4D2, the pipe bomb attracts the zombies like moths towards light, as they beat the shit out of the bomb together as if it's a real Survivor. It has great animations and sound work with the zombies' punches and kicks, the flashing & fire particles, and the gore gives it a nice touch on the explosion's impact as the zombie body parts and blood fly everywhere. In B4B, the zombies are understandably slow and sluggish, it's part of the game. But when a pipe bomb is thrown, they don't look "interested" in the bomb at all. They just turn *slowly* to the bomb like "Ooh! Piece of candy!", and walk to it *purposelessly.* And let's not talk about how underwhelming the explosion and its impact is. Assuming that said impact is equal to the L4D2 pipe bomb, a direct comparison between footage of the two would put B4B to shame. What's worse/funnier is that it doesn't even do that much damage to the zombies themselves, they just shake it off like a bug bite. I can say 1 or 2 more things about it, but I'll stop here. This rant is long enough, as it is.
@@KusanaG11 yea L4D2 will survive until the fans reach their life limit. but B4B won't stand a year :D you said it perfectly i think L4D2 has much better animations with mostly everything the bombs act like a duh BOMB and not like a toy you buy in store to make it explode with a match
Don't forget they also didn't forget to add some small details, for one example: The construction worker zombies won't get attract to pipe bomb due to wear noise-cancelling headphones.
reminds me of World War Z totally boring and that card system sucks...the most important thing missing is the versus mode (not that stupid version in this game)
The thing is that the zombies of L4D 1n2, despite being dead, had much more personality than those showcased in B4B. The unique audio cues and sounds they make clearly made them so distinct and unique compared to other zombie games.

I'll never forget first time playing L4D. And no any other zombie games can top that. The fear when you hear the witch and the tank's theme, the strategy, teamwork, and simplicity, hands down to the best.
Back 4 Blood's reload animations look unnaturally stiff and aggressive. L4D2's animations look more relaxed and natural. I don't get why developers decide to make animations like that in modern games and I kinda don't like it.
maybe its just because i expect the realistic stumbling and heavily varied poses of the zombies in l4d but the animation in b4b looks so damn goofy, theres no stumbling or anything, the reloads are so stiff and just not smooth, and in general it looks like they hired somebody with like maybe 30 hours of animation experience for it
They force military-paced reloads (and in B4B's case, even fails to get the military-trained feel too lmao) on civilian characters. Obviously it's going to look weird.
Why i like L4D2 more than B4B: -Pipe bombs yeets the infected -It's always a "stealth is an option" game -Unique sounds for special infected, and awesome background music when shit goes down -The dialogues are actually funny -You can feel the impact of each shot on the infected -Gnomes cause why not -The helicopter is made of *CHOCOLATE*
I love the weapon handle and movement of Left 4 Dead 2 each character holding the gun different even the wounded animation. It also show how the character you play is just normal civilian. They aren't Navy seal do all of the tactical reload stuff in B4B. It really show the detail Valve care about their character
Yes. Except the balance is the outer way around. Survivors can survive an oversized gorilla yeeting them 10 meters away, without having all of their internal organs crushed in an instant by the fragments of the broken bones…… And yet a ZOMBIE, undead….. Dies from 1-2 bullets TO THE FOOT. Balance is just backwards. I wish Left 4 Dead was more like Project Zomboid in a sense of “zombies are quite tough, ammo management is crucial and you will die from about anything”. Instead we have bullet sponge survivors and one-hit-kill special infected. Hell, Charger should have half the health of a tank. And should needs about 5 shotgun blasts to be killed….. not two frying pan hits…. Same thing with boomer - his explosion should be an instant-kill to survivors. Just like Bursters in Dead Island games/Dying Light. Either you explode him further away and the explosion attracts a horde…. Or you don’t and you just DIE. Likewise, smoker should just kill survivor once he is fully reeled in (or choke him out within 15 seconds of hanging him, if he grabs him from a roof). Akin to pre-nerf Strangler in “Last Year”. Hell, balance the game around having different survivors. If you die in a campaign, you get reborn with a body of another survivor and some randomized starting inventory. Also, survivors on the ground not dying in a couple seconds is just ridiculous.
@@kingol4801 l4d is an arcade shooter, not something like slow dying light/project zomboid, it's meant to be simple fun, nothing too complicated nor hardcore (which B4B did, it sucked dingus). go check out no more room in hell instead, same progression style as left 4 dead, not too extravagant, every infected is very harsh, harsh mechanics, still very fun. this game is not your type and you should play those instead, not everything is catered to your preference, or make it somewhat close to that with mods and customize it yourself.
Also L4D zombies have lore behind them. Like how Tanks were steroid junkies, Boomers were morbidly obese people, Hunters were joggers/athletes, Smokers were chainsmokers, Spitters were people with herpes, Witch is ur average depressed white woman
@olav olav yeah. Lack of effort shows. I mean, they don't even have any character. No personality. L4D's special types actually stood out and were memorable.
L4D will always be king. The Director alone makes sure that every run on any map is different every single time. That alone makes L4D so unique and special; impossible to beat it or replicate that.
God The b4b characters are so unneccessarily chatty. Reminds me of my buddy Keith tried camping out on top of a building once. He was shooting crows, but the police were too busy teargassin' him to ask what he was doin' up there. He screamed for an entire year every single time he opened his eyes! Oh, man! Yes, the stuntman worked really hard to get multiple takes of every animation, as a result, when combined, it offers huge variety and realism, a good feel!

For me Back 4 Blood is like Killing Floor 2, it has good gameplay and all but it lacks the soul that the first game had. EDIT: Since I've apparently pissed everybody off allow me to do so even more: VALVE carried Left 4 Dead.
"This new thing doesn't have the soul the old thing had" No bro. You are older now, and nothing new will feel like it did when you were young. Ever again. If they made the "perfect L4D 3" with modern graphics but the exact same gameplay, most people would be bored with it fast. It would be enjoyed by the same sweats that still play L4D 2 I guess. But I had enough of that game like 10 years ago lol.
@@SaikoX95 It's true. No game will ever feel as good as the ones you played as a kid. Or maybe young adult. Pretty basic and established psychology really. Read about it if you're interested. But don't tell me I'm wrong because you don't understand, lol.
Fr, what I do is thst when I reload I look down to the point that my flashlight is watching to where I was lookin in the first place, and then I look up again
This really made me appreciate something I've always taken for granted in Left 4 Dead: the visual feedback. Back 4 Blood might have higher quality graphics and (sometimes) more realistic effects, but that's about all it has over L4D in terms of visual appeal. In fact, I'd actually argue that B4B's graphical "realism" can be a bit of a detriment. While the molotov's flames in B4B are more in line with what an actual molotov does, the ridiculous wall of fire in L4D is far more satisfying in my opinion and really sells the idea that no zombie walking through it is gonna get out unscathed. Also, L4D's gib system (the code responsible for all the insane over-the-top gore) absolutely demolishes B4B in terms of satisfying visual feedback. Watching the flash of a pipe bomb's explosion and seeing zombies go FLYING through the air (usually in several pieces) will never stop being cathartic, whereas B4B's explosions feel like a wet fart in comparison. Even small stuff like the camera shaking when a tank's concrete hits the ground gives off a sense of danger and that feeling of "Oh shit, that was close" (even if it really wasn't) that the Ogre's flesh bombs are missing. There are so many minute details that add up to make Left 4 Dead an engaging experience, and I can't help but feel that B4B's developers didn't give nearly as much attention to those small but meaningful elements.
Alot of games these days care more about model being high quality than the visual feedback. H2's vehicle explosions vs Infinite's vehicle explosions. B4B vs L4D. Heck just look at Vermintide 2: models are jank but you decap something the head flies off the blood spurts in your face and obscures your vision. Only game that I feel done the visual feedback right from first game to second is Killing Floor 2. Atmosphere may have taken a hit in that game but if you want gore that game has serious gore and takes full advantage of Unreal. You throw a nade and it goes into slow mo and you see an entire intestinal tract flying over your head. You swing a sword on a head and you see brains. You can then proceed to walk around in the guts and it moves as it gets caught on your feet. Wondeful stuff.
Also all of the great animations when you shoot at infected in L4D makes every single shot feel so impactful and satisfying. B4B zombies just turn into Ragdolls and plop to the ground.
They really need to revise the Ogre. The amount of pressure Tank had in L4D was unmatched compared to the Ogre in B4B. Big =/= Intimidating. The Tank's speed, power never fails to put the players on the run while the Ogre has been nothing but a moving mascot for soaking up ammo.
@Siper And on the super freak chance that happened, the game was basically like "here, go again. If you are lucky, it won't happen again. And if it does? Whatever! Try again." B4B was like "lol random ass chance that five tallboys spawned and you all died. You only have one more chance remaining have fun. Oh, and it'll totally happen again :)"
@@CerulianHimmel Do you have to start the campaign over again in B4B? Not that I know what the campaign system is like, since I haven't played the game.
@@Indurok Die enough times in one campaign, and yes. If you die once, no. iirc you get initial start + 2 respawns, and a campaign is about 10 sections in length. Like, it's fucking brutal.
My problem with B4B is it looks too futuristic, while L4D2 looks present even after all those years.. when you play it you feel a connection to the characters and events.
@@mr.exodus3844 I think he meant the zombie apocalypse itself. The zombies look more like aliens than zombies and therefore feels like some sci-fi futuristic shit, like the game takes place in 2122 or something, like the Alien movies.
i wish they added spawn music or attack music to the special infected, thats what made them really unique and cool in l4d. Music can give you a lot of useful information like what special infected just spawned, knowing when a rescue vehicle has arrived by hearing music, and hearing that tank music helps you back up to a better spot and get ready to fight him, the game just feels really different from l4d.
@@legzzzzz In a game where you sometimes can't even hear the people in your voice call on account of all the yelling, gunfire and sound effects and you cannot be looking multiple directions while in a battle, those music cues really help a lot.
@@tomemeornottomeme1864 well i played with two of my friends in a voice call and they even like to laugh really loud, and i was always calling out what special infected spawned, they were even impressed and started doing the same. the throwables in b4b are disappointing like it feels like its a childrens zombie game but in left 4 dead the pipe bombs and Molotov's and boomer biles just feel like youre actual engaged in the fight against the horde and the pipe bombs have dismemberment limbs in l4d 2 which is more graphic and in b4b the zombies just fall down and its lame as hell
Generally, I'd say the biggest things that L4D2 has on B4B is story and details. B4B leaves a lot to be desired for both. Outside of those, the main criticisms I see people put forward sound a lot more like engine preferences.
left 4 dead 2's southern american feel was just a breath of fresh air. the special infected dressed in clothes to match their environment added to that feeling of uniqness. Rochelle, Nick, Coach and especially Ellis were all amazing characters. I'm still playing l4d2, and i love every bit of it. I applaud b4b for trying something new, but i agree that it should have been it's own standalone game
@@booooooooooooop2172 I think they meant that B4B shouldn't have tried to stand on the shoulders of L4D2, because yes it is a standalone game but it's marketed that it's from the makers of the original L4D.
No matter how new the game is with their new mechanics, power-ups and so forth with complexity. Left 4 Dead and games like it will always be treasured for simply their simplicity, simple as that for me
Me too, the the first decade of the 2000s were by far the best times for gamers; having started gaming in that period really lets you see the downfall of video games...
Nothing feels better then the rush of horde coming or escape arriving, the music is just _this_ good. As well as being able to outplay _all_ infected in some way, they are never _guaranteed_ damage, all of them have warnings in both their "voices" and the piano tunes, the music and rumbling when tank arrives, or crying of a witch in some dark corner making you think smarter yet giving you the option to get some balls of steel and kill it one way or another, explosive ammo staggering the witch, or one clean shotgun shot one shotting her. It's a simple game, but damn does it have depth despite that.
The very best part about Back 4 Blood is the part where I start playing Left 4 Dead again. L4D2 is always going to be the superior game. And not saying B4B is bad or anything, at least it’s fun to play... unlike Earthfall or WWZ
World War Z is way more fun to me compared to B4B. Every enemy in B4B feels designed to be as frustrating as possible. The only thing that makes WWZ not fun is waiting 7 minutes in the lobby for my vegetative teammates to ready up for some reason.
Ngl WWZ gameplay feels more like a "zombie apocalypse" than any other game could with its merciless non-stop undead hoards (when ignoring the grinding systems and the off-putting 3rd person pov), wouldn't say it's as enjoyable to me as L4d2 is but would definitely play it anytime over B4B.
I’m not really digging into the “tacti-cool” aesthetic of B4B From the many videos I watched, Im not sure if I like the attachment mechanic. It feels like people would just focus on maximizing the gun’s performance that it ends with one team with the same gun and attachments, because it’s optimized the best. Also, the maps for B4B looks great but feels a bit ‘remote’, if you catch my drift: it feels like the maps aren’t lived in and has a very defined path as if people moved their stuff out of the way. I think I’d like B4B if I played it but, the experience would not be comparable for the hundreds of hours I put into L4D1/2 on the 360 (and later PC) It feels like Killing Floor speed with No more rooms in hell vibes
Yeah, what I loved in L4D2 is that there weren't too many guns, but basically, no gun was really useless. Every gun had its own distinct role with its own downsides and upsides. Maybe M16 is the only that can be said to be outclassed by almost everything, though it's still a nice common clearer on normal difficulties with its great magazine and reload time.
@@hunlepto2239 even the throwables have their uses, I even remember that one time I threw a bile bomb on a single zombie and a whole horde just steamrolled the poor infected bastard

To be honest, attachments on guns would be COOL in L4D if they are randomized in the ground. Imagine seeing a SCAR-L on the ground only to find out it has small differences compared to a normal SCAR-L
I also feel the music plays a huge role in L4D that was missed. Like when you're pulled by a smoker or have puke on you that suspenseful melody kicking in made you feel there. B4B just feels like my alarm clock is going off and im waiting to hit the snooze button just to get caught in another mutations loogie.
What makes LFD/LFD2 a great game is the mute color tones the great audio, and moment like 4:55 when it goes from being quiet to hearing the horde being summoned by the game director who also picks some great audio tracks for the approaching hordes
@@a.k8185 The game director is in charge of making sure you're having a good experience in the game. Whether its changing the map around procedurally or sending tougher enemies your way, it's programmed to always be watching you and deciding if it needs to spawn things like shotgun ammo vs pipe bomb vs health. Mowing down zombies with your shotie, without taking a scratch? Less ammo spawns up ahead. Better make a new plan!
You can see they barely cared about the details of sounds, enviromental interaction and gameplay (or Unreal Engine lacks these functions themselves?). Colors are too washed out and comic-y, unlike L4D2 that had an interesting film-like artstyle with extra care about the details of models (to this day, most infecteds look terrifying up-close). Maybe story mode and stuff might be better (dunno about it though). I also have to say the hub is a nice touch, since L4D2 lobbies are painfully boring and makes players want to leave instantly. The extra gameplay elements is something you think could only make the game more fun, but it makes you think into it too much to the point it's annoying. You're in an arcade(?) shooting game, not a strategy or puzzle game, the only thing you should think about is how to handle situations considering the circumstances, not about how to play the game itself even when you know how it plays. Overall, I just think saying it's L4D3 is both idiotic and ignorant, it has many features I absolutely hate in modern games and don't support and I feel it almost has no distinctive feature that can't be already found in some other game(s), but probably better.
"You're in an arcade(?) shooting game, not a strategy or puzzle game" The thing is, Back 4 Blood doesn't try to be a Run and Gun game like L4D, it has more strategy behind, but people are expecting it to play the same as L4D and then are dissappointed as hell when it doesn't. The only valid complain I think is the lack of gore and the sound design, it doesn't fell as satisfying as L4D, but aside from that, i did enjoy the beta, and will wait for the reviews at launch.
@@clarkwolfang9779 _"But people are expecting it to play the same as L4D and then are disappointed as hell when it doesn't"._ The only reason it had the name "Back 4 Blood" is literally because they wanted to make L4D kind of game, if anything then I don't fucking know what are they trying to tell while having that obvious name.

If they atleast advertised it as another type of game, it wouldn't have gotten so much hate, but the creators legit want people to believe this is a Left 4 Dead killer game.
Another reason why left 4 dead was so epic are its soundtracks. Background music really do have an impact in the player's emotion. Something Back for Blood doesn't have
I don’t think people seem to realize that we will never get a game like L4d again until valve makes the third game. Trs may have created the foundation but it was valve who perfected it by l4d2 Edit: lmao looks like I pissed off trs fanboys. Whatever weirdos, it’s not like valve has had lots of other successful game before and after L4d…. Oh wait, they have.
I don't think Valve would be releasing a 3rd title very soon. The success of current generation Valve's games (Team Fortress, Left 4 Dead, even single players titles like Half-Life and Portal) makes it risky to make another title. By "risky" I mean it really really hard to make a "better" game than what Valve's team had already put out. CS:GO still possess a huge player count, L4D continuously has active players (in which mods and community's content play a huge role). And don't get me start about TF2, that shit still alive af even though it hardly have any update. HL Alyx did a solid job by freshing out play style as well as continue the storyline. But I don't think the same strategy can be applied to other IPs. Still, really really hard doesn't mean impossible, I hope Valve will soon prove my arguments wrong.
L4D was also developed by Valve, TR just layed the foundation of the game before valve bought the IP. TR barely has anything to do with L4D funnily enough.
@@WhirlingMusic there ain’t nothing wrong with preferring L4d over 2 but it’s still purely valve. Valve were The ones to decide which characteristics to keep and which infected should stay or leave. @@a_honoka_simp413 the thing is, how are you gonna get sales if you know that people are still liking an old game? It is very hard to have new players and more if it is a "new" game. We are talking about a ripoff of l4d2 and its the truth, if they dont do what they need to do for making me say that b4b its a new zombies game they are not going to get new people and if they dont do a better game than l4d2... well you get another dead game. Why? Because l4d2 will not buy a worse game than the one of 10 years ago.
@@a_honoka_simp413 It's the game that's constantly advertising itself as a spiritual successor to l4d,and made by the "same devs" as the original l4d. Of course we're gonna compare them.
I think one over-arching advantage that Left 4 Dead has over Back 4 Blood is summarized in one word: Simplicity. In L4D, all the characters are easily recognizable thanks to their simple clothing having two primary colours. For example, Nick has an easily identifiable white suit and blue shirt. Rochelle has a pink shirt, Bill has a green jacket and yellow shirt, etc. In B4B, all the Cleaners have more complicated appearances thanks to their clothing and equipment. Holly, one individual character, has a mix of blue on her cap, yellow on her sweater, red on her plaid and black on her backpack and leggings. That’s without talking about the equipment like backpacks, which takes up all the space on their back that could be used to identify them. On some characters like Walker (An army veteran) and Hoffman (a crazy prepper) it makes sense, but do we really think Holly would lug around a heavy backpack? Personally, I doubt it. Continuing with the theme of simplicity, L4D’s items and guns are very easy to understand. You’ve got a certain amount of weapons and items to work with. You’re normally given two types of the same weapon, each one with their own spin. The M4 Assault Rifle is a great all-rounder while its “sidegrades” offer a more unique spin, such as the AK47 being more accurate when standing still and less accurate when running. I think the card / perk system for B4B was a novel idea but it ultimately forces you into a mindset of having all your perks ready or you’re screwed. If you pick Holly, you’re focused on a melee build. If you try to branch away, you won’t be as effective (in my eyes). In L4D, even if you have arguably the worst loadout of an MP5, a pistol, boomer bile, defibrillator and adrenaline, you can STILL make use out of those items. Not to mention, you can pick up any gun and adapt on the fly, saving your game from turning into an utter slog. There’s a lot of things going against Back 4 Blood and I definitely don’t want it to go down when it has so much potential, but to me, Left 4 Dead will always be a timeless masterpiece.
@olav olav It does have a Walk button where you hold Shift, just like in every other Valve FPS games. But it’s nice that since this game is geared towards everyone from “group of friends dicking around” to “sweaty, tryhard MVP lords”, it doesn’t provide much tactical advantage to the point of necessity to the players. In other words, it’s a simple movement option not forced upon the player like Sprinting in other games, and I personally really appreciate that.
A thing I’d like to mention is how the weapons are all versatile and simple to use, so you don’t grow an emotional attachment to them. It plays to the game’s aesthetics that the Survivors are merely civilians with generally very basic knowledge on guns, so anything that can turn the violent and hostile zombies to chunky human soup will do for them. And, like you said, players only need to pick up some guns and shoot things. No worries about weapon ranking because they all have their unique strengths, and especially ammo management due to the ridiculously generous reserves, getting rid of any problems that might be involved with it, like ammo sharing in PUBG and B4B. Sure, Tier 2 weapons are undoubtedly better than Tier 1s overall (and most alternate gamemodes for Versus that are strictly competitive straight up remove them entirely), but in true normal public Versus games, you are never truly defenseless with any given gun at any given time, especially if you play your cards right with the weapon type you have.
Now compare that to left 4 dead 2 which, honestly has better graphics. Not because it looks more realistic but because it has style which makes it stand out!
I wouldn't say that at all, i think that overwatch has done a pretty good job with their characters. Especially the voice actors they've done astonishingly! They gave these characters so much personality. When OW released it was actually such a love letter to people who work on character designs and voice them. They were all so individual and each of them sounded so distinctive. This comparison doesn't hit the same, as a l4d vs b4b comparison would hit.
i love how not a single playable character in back for blood is the least bit relatable or badass, they sound exactly like how a text book character would sound like with no sense of realism whatsoever
Loved watching this, and also hard in some sort of way, seeing L4D2 getting more and more outdated. But I'll never stop playing it though, such a classic and the nostalgia just hits the spot every time I turn it on
I just love L4D2. I can't explain why. I'm already play it since 3 years ago. Also there's a lot of modding features available on Steam. A lots of custom maps, various weapon mod and Anime survivor mod, and the others. In my opinion, it has better animation, blood effect, sound, and more.
some mechanics in B4B seem actually great, but as a whole, I fear it might disapoint (looking at the beta.... yeaaah) like random bird spawns would be fun to see. you see a flock of birds on one path and have to avoid it or risk scaring them, thus alerting a horde
L4d2 makes you rely on your teammates and their skills cuz without them youll probably die, but B4B can be beaten by yourself and I find that dumb and ruins the idea. So I hope they fix that.
It's always comes to little details to tell whether a game is good or not. The more I played B4B, the more I feel the love and dedication on L4d2, and it's done 14 years ago.
The thing that L4D did right in my opinion was a compelling narrative the fact that your characters are some of the least experienced people just fighting to survive with B4B its a nice narrative it has its place but it lacks the charm of L4D that being said B4B is still a very nice game on its own merit
B4B lacks that horror feeling imo, L4D has that dark and desaturated environment, but it's not only the environment, it's the zombies as well and the whole menu screen, I fucking love it. Of course in terms of graphics B4B wins, but what we should focus here is the tension and overall gameplay. B4B has good gameplay sure, now I don't play B4B but imo the zombies are not as intimidating as L4D, their special zombies doesn't give that gore look that I like about L4D. I think the winner here is L4D, but it's up to you guys.
B4B has technically better graphics, but the world feels a lot more real in L4D. The zombies move far smoother and with better physics than in B4B. Idk B4B looks awkwardly floaty and jerky to me
When you play l4d games the atmosphere itself is creepy and when the zombies come at you it's like you panic to know what to do next and knowing it's only 4 of you in l4d against so many zombies and special infected is scary b4b don't have that same feeling
I haven't played B4B, but I heard that rather than "survivors" the main characters are called "cleaners" (please correct me if I'm wrong), which makes killing zombies sound more like a cleanup job rather than trying to survive.
Recently (2024) i put lot mods in my l4d2, from guns to better textures for the map, shadows, light, skins, sounds, all kind of mods to make it more realistic and better.. modders do amazing job.. its almost a new game . The game is timeless
Realistically, I think Back 4 Blood can be great if it had mod support; custom maps alongside the vanilla maps of L4D2 kept the game fresh and entertaining to play with friends. Beta itself, was fun, but really lacks the charm L4D2 had.
Why modders should fix this skeleton of a game for free? L4D has so much support cuz it is great game and all mods are based around that. Mod support in b4b would not change too much, cuz whole game is heartless, it feels like poorly made cod standalone mode. And even that is not fair to say, because multiplayer in cod have zombie mode and it is more fun than this game. :/
I love the comparisons you used, I haven’t played b4b just yet but I do plan on pre ordering. L4d 1+2 will always be my favorite zombie game but I’m just glad the original studio tried their hand at this since valve will never give us left 4 dead 3 and I’m very excited for b4b
B4B in my opinion is just another "WOOHOO KILL ZOMBIES BECAUSE WE COOL!". Left 4 dead was more interesting, getting to know the characters AN ACTUAL CREW with different personalities, making your way to what you call safety and many more things that kept players coming back, stay or even bringing new players to a 11 years old game! (I know its not the full product)
What the hell you actually care about personallity. Also what you said left 4 dead is about is literally the same as back 4 blood minus the weird personality part. Might i add they have the same replay ability just left 4 dead has a better vibe to it. Just everyone watch bro back for blood is going to be good as well, it may not have the same feeling but definitely will be good.
@@rosarysbutt4693 back 4 blood doesn’t have any of the unique features 2 had. The only reason it might & I mean MIGHT live for a while is because of the 4, without that this game would be nothing.
@@dogsys what unique features are you talking about theyre literally just the same game with different infected different guns different graphics and different characters. You obviously didnt play the beta if youre saying it has unique features
Revisiting this a year later, after playing all acts of B4B. While it isnt the Left 4 Dead 3 we were hoping for, it was a fun game. Theres also a way to build so u can play the game just like L4D (No ADS, No Movement Penalty). Definitely need to play with friends to make use of the replayability. Other than that, L4D2 still ages well and is the better game, just with mod support and custom maps. If B4B ever opens the game to mod support, we may have a swing. But classic and nostalgia factors in, L4D2 is still an ageless classic.
The only aspect that actually caught my attention was the interaction with cars and how they explode if you shoot them. Everything else looked the same as l4d2, just with little higher quality sounds/graphics, but not enough to make me spend a fortune on a game I pretty much already own.
Yeah they could have made it cheaper by just picking a less detailed art style that doesn't look bad either. Definetly not the only thing to consider but seems like it would give them more time to well, make the game better. Maybe they'll update it someday.
In L4D, the weapons sounded so powerful, and the recoil reflected that. When I shot zombies, it felt like I was shooting monsters that actually used to be human. In B4B, the weapons sound kinda underwhelming, same with the recoil (doesn’t reflect power). Shooting at the zombies also looks underwhelming, like you’re shooting generic squishy monsters. I had high hopes for B4B, and I think it had a a lot of potential, but I’m glad I didn’t buy it.
The zombies in L4D also still looked human, and even had distinct features, such as their clothes and job uniforms, their hair, and facial structure. In B4B, they all seem to look exactly the same with nothing unique about them.
The recoil alone is god tier, but what sold me was the infected's reaction to being shot. My favorite being when they take all the shotgun slugs and they get sent flying backwards. I don't feel nor see that shit in B4B.
Not to defend Back4Bucks, but there's no physics involved in any of those cases. The water dropping from the ceiling is a particle system, not actual water, and the water in L4D2 is just a texture slapped in a cube that reacts to ray-casting.
@@Xenorvya the beta L4D1 didn't have the Director, AKA the reason left 4 dead still has a sizable playerbase more than 10 years later (and also, incidentally, B4B doesn't have the Director either). There were also other things here and there that were different, but I don't know all the details.
Back 4 Blood is literally a COD copy of Left 4 Dead 2. You can clearly tell by the first person gun animations. The animations in B4B feel and look like an expert trained marine is using them, Comparing to L4D2 though, They feel more casual and smooth as if they're used by normal people.
L4d2 gives some unique feels idk why. Playing L4D2 on weekends with friends is just enough to make our weekends! As well as B4B is too expensive I guess 🤔

Just seeing all characters from Left 4 Dead 2 are much powerful than characters at Back 4 Blood. Lol
Just look how L4D2 characters use meelees or bash, how they powerful and priercing they are
One thing I've noticed: L4D characters feel like genuine survivors, their dialogue always matches the situation they're in.

L4d2 still has the crown
-This game was made 13 years ago
-The music makes the player really hyped up like the sound effects of a horde or the music effect on encountering a special zombie making it unique
-Shows the environment what has happened very recently after the outbrake
-Each character has its own unique personality
-They focused at the gameplay first rather than the graphics
-Can interact almost any object
-Each weapon has its own effect
-They don't spawn the gun in the same place every time making it more challenging
-Huge maps
-Minigames
-The weather changes
-Has better physics
-All the campaigns are connected
-The ending always has its own different way like walking or defending
-Always have unexpected hordes or tanks making it fun
-If you buy the 2, you get to play both 1 and 2
-Great storyline
-You can cheat to have more fun
-Custom maps
-Very good voicelines
-They spawn random alarm cars to make it more fun
-Bread
And it has mods

I just love the simplicity in L4D. No fiddleing with cards or skills, worrying to get the best build.
no real RNG involved either, all weapons are to some degree viable and you never feel like you got screwed over too unfairly, L4D's Director just does this well at making each run feel unique and _fun._
And the add-on support.

B4B tries to look badass with characters trying to look like the cool kids in an apocalypse, while L4D feels like genuinely trying to survive extinction with characters having fear but also determination as they look for temporary safety
And with L4D being simple yet straight to the point of the personality of the characters, they became the badass one.
I hate when shows and games do this, also it makes the characters feel less genuine and relatable thst way.
Yup.

When L4D trying to survive and having fear at the same time makes them the real badass.. while B4B trying too hard to be it makes them sounds so cringe
B4B lacks the suspense when encountering special zombies. That ogre is just like meh compared to Tank and the witch of L4D
I'd be much more intimidated by the ogre if it could more effectively remove the player from indoor areas. Where it stands right now, the meta is so go inside and poke at it until it leaves cause the ogre cant really hurt you if your smart about it

@@armintor2826 this is in STARK contrast to the tank. If you fight the tank in a small enclosed space you are DED.

So many things about Left 4 Dead 2 are ahead of its time: the sound effects, the gore, the gameplay, the aesthetics...
While all that of Back 4 Blood feel like they're of an old CoD game Activision couldn't care less about.
Worse than that. Call Of Fortnite
Piece of candy!", and walk to it *purposelessly.*
And let's not talk about how underwhelming the explosion and its impact is.
Don't forget they also didn't forget to add some small details, for one example:
The construction worker zombies won't get attract to pipe bomb due to wear noise-cancelling headphones.
reminds me of World War Z totally boring and that card system sucks...the most important thing missing is the versus mode (not that stupid version in this game)
The thing is that the zombies of L4D 1n2, despite being dead, had much more personality than those showcased in B4B. The unique audio cues and sounds they make clearly made them so distinct and unique compared to other zombie games.

I remember the first time I saw a pipebomb literally blow zeds apart in L4D2 and I was amazed. B4B? Not so much.
Yeah I agree. I remember how I hardly can avoid it XD
@@YasaiTsume yeah sadly that is why I prefer Far Cry 2 more. Tho the malaria mechanic did get annoying still it is a good game.
There is a tank in b4b it was locked in the beta so he did not appear in the beta, the ogre is it’s own thing he isn’t comparable to the tank

From the many videos I watched, Im not sure if I like the attachment mechanic.

Edit: lmao looks like I pissed off trs fanboys.

I think there's clearly a lot of passion that went into the weapons in B4B, I'll give it that.
But not a lot of passion in the animations.

@@a.k8185 oh, yeah at least the guns are up to par
Same goes for team fortress 2
You could even see in 64p or 32p and you'll still recognise the character
@olav olav Shit even Nick IN-GAME says how simple it is (kinda): "Now grab a weapon and follow me, this goddamn building's on fire."
Shut up lmao
It really bothers me that you can't kick several infected back either with melee or with an m2. It seems riddiculous
I keep instinctively press m2 to push zombies away in this game, it just screws me over mentally
I hate that you can't one hit the infected like you can in Left 4 Dead 2 with the melee weapons
@@xcvetxzk4048 Same
You can only hit one zombie at a time.
@@jamesedleymusic Yeah, and it doesn't do much damage, I'm pretty sure it takes 3 hits to kill one
Even with all the gore and with no mods, I love how L4D still feels pretty goofy.
Back for Blood may be cool in terms of graphics, gameplay (or whatever lol)
But L4D will always be in my heart ❤️

left for dead is infinitely better
Idk… The graphics looks like they’re gonna be outdated in a year because there is no style… Realism dates fast when it has no style.
Now compare that to left 4 dead 2 which, honestly has better graphics. Not because it looks more realistic but because it has style which makes it stand out!
Gameplay is pretty similar, but the aesthetic, artstyle and character design is similar to switching from TF2 to Overwatch.
Overwatch: Soldier is gay
TF2: We are not most men. We are MERCENARIES
i wouldn't say it's similiar tbh. perhaps a bit, but it also felt different to me
I wouldn't say that at all, i think that overwatch has done a pretty good job with their characters.

Loved watching this, and also hard in some sort of way, seeing L4D2 getting more and more outdated. But I'll never stop playing it though, such a classic and the nostalgia just hits the spot every time I turn it on
6:47 zoey did you just 😳
L4D2 had such a nice atmosphere, everything felt a little slower. B4D feels more like a sequel to COD zombies than L4D
The mechanics are good on paper, but in execution, they fall apart.
Always happy when he uploads Left 4 Dead content.
*Imagine being the biggest and strongest but all you can do is throwing giant meatball when other one can throw away anything obstacles on his way..
Idk B4B looks awkwardly floaty and jerky to me
B4B zombies look Slimy for me......not even scared btw.....and its kinda cringe to hear random voice in B4B......
L4d didn’t really have a horror feel b4b does

Recently (2024) i put lot mods in my l4d2, from guns to better textures for the map, shadows, light, skins, sounds, all kind of mods to make it more realistic and better.. modders do amazing job.. its almost a new game . The game is timeless
true
Realistically, I think Back 4 Blood can be great if it had mod support; custom maps alongside the vanilla maps of L4D2 kept the game fresh and entertaining to play with friends. Beta itself, was fun, but really lacks the charm L4D2 had.
But no, the game will only have maps by TR
@@justdem1490 hahahahahaha unless you buy more battle pass.

Proof that valve carried l4d2, the only problem is that they can't count to 3
B4B in my opinion is just another "WOOHOO KILL ZOMBIES BECAUSE WE COOL!". Left 4 dead was more interesting, getting to know the characters AN ACTUAL CREW with different personalities, making your way to what you call safety and many more things that kept players coming back, stay or even bringing new players to a 11 years old game! (I know its not the full product)
Yeah, changing civilians for profesional cleaners wasnt really the best idea.
Yes indeed
What the hell you actually care about personallity. Also what you said left 4 dead is about is literally the same as back 4 blood minus the weird personality part. Might i add they have the same replay ability just left 4 dead has a better vibe to it. Just everyone watch bro back for blood is going to be good as well, it may not have the same feeling but definitely will be good.

L4D2 was so ahead of its time, still the best zombie game for me, even the versus mode is all so good
The only aspect that actually caught my attention was the interaction with cars and how they explode if you shoot them.
Maybe they'll update it someday.
use graphics mod for l4d2, it look so much better
7:55 and at this moment, back 4 blood knew, he’s fucked up
Not to defend Back4Bucks, but there's no physics involved in any of those cases. The water dropping from the ceiling is a particle system, not actual water, and the water in L4D2 is just a texture slapped in a cube that reacts to ray-casting.
As a massive fan of both Left 4 Dead games equally... Back 4 Blood is an incredible *disappointment.*
B4B is made by turtle rock. L4D1 was created by TR but fixed by Valve to actually be good, and L4D2 is pure Valve.

Back 4 Blood is literally a COD copy of Left 4 Dead 2.
You can clearly tell by the first person gun animations.
