Yukon is not only extremely knowledgeable about China, but is also able to put it in terms understandable to a Western audience.

His "prediction" of China's growth rate was actually spot on -- he expected the intrinsic growth to be around 6.5%, which is essentially what China has seen in the last 2 years. He did recommend the Chinese government to focus investment back to the coast and believed that would push the growth rate back to above 7%, but as we've seen Xi Jingping has declared that balanced development is more important to the country and maintaining 7+% growth rate is no longer China's main goal.
Unlike Western spectators and politicians who apparently have no clue about most issues in China, Huang seems to get the gist and interestingly Xi seems to be taking notes. Curiously, we see real decline in the West in their denial of rational and objective analysis.

My personal history is similar to of all my fellow countries in the neighborhood as for Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Venezuela, Cuba, Nicaragua and so on. Back 32 years ago, with a doctor degree from George Washington University and working at the world bank, life looked promising. Then, America crushed me to the point of been slander in the streets of Washington DC and as consequence I lost not just the job but the working visa and to return no Brazil to fall in the hands of cruels militaries and my also of Family. America knew what will be of me if had to return. After all, nobody ends up to live a few miles from the White House without America knowing very well who I was and Why I was there. I dove deep into a mightmare of a miserable contry under control of pederasts in uniform. Somehow I manage to survive and every day since then I have ask to myself: "Why America has done that to me." Millions always have intered the country trying to escape persecution of all kind. America has never forced anybody out but did that to me! Why...? Well, this World is not divided between Democrats and Republicans but between Have and Have not. I am Have not, I guess. But now, at the age of 64 I know better. America's beacon of civilization is Comunist China.

I feel as though he skipped one of his most important and earlier points. He noted that China has a lot less arable land than the US and that China is capping the growth of its biggest cities (of which he posed was not a good choice) and instead wanted to open the second tier cities to emigration. If he had seen the countryside lately he would have taken notice that their infrastructure is growing healthily, moreover, land-use is getting big upgrades on their ability to produce their own food in larger amounts with increased technology. Yep, China is planting seeds, infrastructure, technology and education in two of the three most important facets he pointed out, land and people. When China is totally capable of feeding itself, it will no longer be subject to the kinds of trade wars it cannot comfortably afford. China is moving into the country, it is cleaning it up, modernizing it and making its farmers more educated, comfortable and productive. The big cities and their global economies may be subject to a lot of competition and all the ups and downs that come with that sector. But, providing for its own food resources really does need to be its strength. The countryside needs managers, doctors, educators and builders! That is where China went and it sure looks like it is paying off. The growth of capital, simply makes the wealthy wealthier like we have going on in the West. Yukon missed it.

Lots of people was wondering if China will crash. The answer is no no no. If you look at the size and resiliene of Chinese people, you can see the answer. They work and save. As long as there is Chinese people there the prosperity will be created as long as they have a stable country. Look at other Confusian countries Japan, Taiwan, Korea, hongkong, Singapore and overseas Chinese they are thriving. You can't generalise and compare them with ordinary countries. Their civilisation has been continuing for 5000 years with hardship, disaster, chaos and up and down. They are like 'Jews of Asia'.

barbarbarbar2 You have to listen to the positive and negative videos and sources about China today to get the bigger picture. This guy is decidedly positive, but it is not the entire picture. The negative sources also do not address the things that are going right in China.
However, both can be true at the same time. Lots of good and bad going on in the economy at the same time.

Confucian ideology is as much the backbone of the Asian Psyche as much as Greek ideas of Democracy as well as Christian theology defined the Western psyche. This is the key point for behavioral economic analysis of Asia.
It is you who needs to study economics rather than try to be a smart alec.

Good insights, small mistake though, Taiwan is not a country, it's government/political entity is called Republic of China(ROC). And mainland China is People's Republic of China(PRC), so both are China.

I hope China succeeds. There will also be critics out there but at least China tries to make life better for its people. Of course you need to work from the top to the bottom to make it work. It is a huge responsibility but they are determined to make it work. One day the West might be forced to think of the people living in poverty in their country.

Only SOEs can stomach the risks in investing in the OBOR strategy. This OBOR regime changing is China's answer to US's CIA regime changing in their interests for geopolitical as well as resource security. Both regime change system will have the champions supporting the changes like the local cronies and also, naysayers like local oppositions opposing the changes.

No, Professor Yukon Huang is not a critical thinker. Chinese apologetic is more apt. Carnegie was a revered American institution. His justification is not true if you espouse communist philosophy where theft of IP is somehow condoned in the name of world domination. Free Men object to Chinese totalitarian Marxist/Communist government policies. Fair rules and trade have a long tradition. China can try impose its own rules, alphabet, or anything else on the west. If, for some reason, China experiences resistance to its will, then you now know why.

If you are so gung-ho IP theft, then you should read the history, America stole technology since WW2 from Germany, United Kingdom and Japan,. If you are again sound so decent, then don’t pretend your horrible acts of murdering millions of innocent Muslims worldwide. Have you read George Galloway goes to Washington? Don’t you get embarrassed? In history, human all steals, America is the worst.

      Dear Mesrrs Teh,
Before you respond to a comment that offends, you should take some time to check your language, history and motives.
If you do not, everything you say will simply be dismissed as the rantings of a Chinese Communist Party agent.
There can never be any justification for not having honour.
Jesus Christ's Sermon on the Mount is a good place to start to learn about this.
