There have been some comments asking if it is really important if it is a V or a W. Well that depends on the motive for wanting to know. From a religious perspective I don't think it really makes a difference, but from a scholastic perspective this is very important. For those of us who study the ancient language we are always looking for clues into the mechanics of this ancient language. But for me personally, this video is very important as it challenged me and caused me to rethink some of my own viewpoints. When I find out I could be wrong on something, I get excited and look forward to learning something completely new.

I felt the same as you Jeff, I was never really sure until I heard Nehemiah explain it and went and checked the sources including the passages in Ezek. regarding "vav" and "bet" for the word "gav" (back). I believe YHVH or Yehovah seems more likely as to the correct way to pronounce his name.
The Hebrew poetry he mentions from the 4th to 5th century is very eye opening too.

Yes my friend Jews4Yeshua that would mean that the name Yehovah would be Jehovah in English which shows that Jehovah's witnesses are using the correct pronunciation of the name Like Yeshua in Hebrew and the latinized form would be Jesus.

In the same topic, there is a problem with the phones J and G. The G sound seems to be borrowed to the indo-aryan G (persian exil?). The problem came when the semit Q became G too, two very closed phones. In Egypt the semit J is pronounced G. So difficult to find clues, why, when and where the phones had been changed. And we are still thinkng only the vulgars pronounce the acronyme YHWH.

In fact I found many problem in the hebrew alphabet, compare to arabic. See for the letter ز and ذ ; hebrew mixes it in the ז sound. We have to remember hebrews changed their graphems deeply at least 3 times. Another causes of errors in hebrew grammars.

I have dug a little deeper into one of the issues in this video.
This video includes a claim by Nehemiah Gordon from the book of Ezekiel to support the "v" sound for pronunciation of the letter ו (vav or waw). His claim is that there are two Hebrew words, both meaning "back," which are actually the same word, with the same pronunciation, just spelled differently.
One of these words is גב (Strong's #1354), which appears in Ezekiel 10:12 and is translated as "backs" in the KJV. The first letter is a gimel, which is pronounced with a "g" sound. The second letter is a beyt, which in Modern Hebrew is pronounced with a "b" sound when it appears at the beginning of a syllable, but as a "v" sound when it is at the end of a syllable, such as it is with the word גב. So this word is pronounced "gav."
The second word is גו (Strong's #1458), which appears in Ezekiel 23:35 and is translated as "back" in the KJV. The first letter is the gimel (g) and the second letter is the letter vav (v or w), so this word would be pronounced as "gav" or "gaw." Nehemiah's conclusion is that גב and גו is the same word, meaning "back," but spelled two different ways and the only way this would be possible is if the letter vav in the word גו were pronounced with a "v."
The first thing that I want to point out is that we do not know if in ancient times the letter beyt was pronounced with a "v" when at the end of a syllable, we only know that this it is pronounced this way in modern times. The second thing I want to point out goes a little deeper into these two words.
The word גו (Strong's #1458) is used in the Hebrew Bible only three times, 1 Kings 14:9, Nehemiah 9:26 and Ezekiel 23:35 and in each case this word is translated as "back." It is also of interest that in each of these three verses, this word is used in the context "behind the back."
The word גב (Strong's #1354) is used thirteen times in the Hebrew Bible; six of these times is in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 1:18 it is translated in the KJV as "ring," in Ezekiel 10:12 as "backs," in Ezekiel 16:24, 16:31, 16:39 as "eminent place" and in Ezekiel 43:13 as "higher place." While the KJV translates the word גב as "backs" only once (Ezekiel 10:12), it translates this word differently in other places including; naves, eyebrow, bodies and bosses. In other translations the word גב is translated as; arch, spoke and rim. The word גב does not mean "back," but instead means "arch," which may be the "back" (as when bent over) or something else that has the shape of an arch.
My conclusion is that גב and גו are two different words, one meaning "arch" (גב), which is pronounced "gav," and the other meaning "back" (גו), which may be pronounced as "gav" or "gaw."

I just watched Nehemia´s video "Wow, It´s a Vav!" on his Website which is only accessible for members unfortunately.
I was pretty sure it must be W and not V from other videos i´ve seen on this... and i was biased because I like the sound of DaWid for instance. But the material he shows there is hardly deniable as far as I can tell. He brings much more evidence on this, including other words that are spelt with ב or ו alternatively. His study on this really changed my mind so I had to delete my comment here. I highly recommend it for those who are interested.

7Bennie7 - Thank you. I have watched that before and to me it was settled. I really appreciate your comment above about Nehemia's study. He is no dummy and does his due diligence. Even in the video here, he spoke with the leading expert in semitic languages and that guy said the pronunciation by the groups saying "waw" definitely is influenced by Arabic. Plus, the video above explains that there were a few small groups of Jews who used this pronunciation. Like so many things, we each have to seek the Lord for His Truth. For me, I am content to call my God : Yehovah. If someone else wants to call him something else, that is their choice. Someday, Messiah will rule and reign from Jerusalem and we will ALL KNOW HIM and HIS FATHER, HIS GOD.

Flavius Josephus (Yusef Ben MatithYahu) the historian of the first century, claims to have laid eyes on the golden headpiece worn by the Kohen ha’Gadol (high priest).
He described it as having the Name written in four Hebrew vowels, which we know is comprised of the letters YOD-HAY-UAU-HAY or YOD-HAY-WAW-HAY I write this as to also show you in love that if you spelled the word noun is no different then to also spell it nown they both sound the same but spelled differently, anyway, when sounding consonants, air flow is interrupted or limited by the position of the tongue, teeth or lips.
The first century historian cited here was under the impression the letter HAY is a vowel as used in the Name.
He surely knew more about the use and sound of the Hebrew language than any other person since the first century, and certainly would have been very disturbed by the alterations made by the Masoretes over 500 years after his time.
Some claim “Hebrew has no written vowels,” and many claim the 22 letters are all “consonants.”
How a letter is used in combination with other letters makes a difference, and the more rules men try to make the more we encounter the exceptions to them.

    "ב " The
Was pronounced not with teeth and lips like the English V, but between lips like the Spanish b between vowels. So it resembles w sound but not quite. "-aba" Spanish resembles "awa" but there's no "oo" pronunciation, just the air between upper and lower lips. This is how yéménites pronoud ב which does not exist in Arabic.

very compelling argument, but I think you might be misunderstanding how old this division is? Also, we may not know if this is migration or actual dialectic difference from a much earlier time. I think the vowels associated with Vav, waw are very teling. You didn't cover that at all. I realize that the Mazoretic additions are much later, but those added vowels in most cases actually pronounced. If one just forms "O" and "U" with their mouth, it is hard not to think that they are actually an original association. I continue to think YHVH was a sound coming untouched through the mouth. This ruach-like word is also compelling. But one day, we will know for sure, and who knows, we might all be wrong. PT.....YHVH
I forgot an allusion to Sh/sibbolet/th. To strike a conclusive opinion on this topic is very bold, but it may still be wrong. Respectfully.

You are 100% correct again and his statement and the last 8 seconds of this video shows his dogmatism, definded as:

But if NG uses this document to prove what the letter Waw's original sound was -- and I cannot see any other reason he had for using it -- none of that matters anyway, since lines authored in the 10th century prove nothing about this letter's much more ancient or authentic pronunciation in BCE times.

There are instances where the Waw/Vav is pronounced 'oo'. Like in רוח Ruach. So, יהוה Yahuah is not outside of the realm of possibility! In regards to Ruach, you certainly cannot put a 'v' sound or 'w' sound in its place! I do believe the Vav was originally a Waw first.

@@ancienthebreworg The 6th letter Vav is multifunctional as both a vowel and a consonant. The Vav Cholam with the nikkud/vowel marking on top of the Vav makes the long 'O' sound is masculine while the Vav Shuruk where the Vav is pointed in the bosom is feminine as is pronounced with the 'oo' sound. The Vav can take on any vowel that placed above or beneath it like in the name of Daveed where the Vav is pronounced both as a consonant and with the vowel pointed of "ee". The Vav represents mediation/connection between subjects and is called the Great Mediator of The Alef-Bet. Our Savior Yehoshua is the Great Mediator between Heaven and Earth and His Book is The Sixth Book of Torah. Sepher Yehoshua. As Yehoshua Ben Nun figuratively represented Yehoshua of Nazareth who takes the Children of the Fathers into the Land of Promise, the Land of Rest and the Land of Milk and Honey and fulfilled the covenant of YEHOVAH to give the Land of Canaan a possession to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. He also completed the writings of Torah. See Yehoshua 24:26
The first Vav is found in Bereshit/Genesis 1:1
      בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית בָּרָ֣א אֱלֹהִ֑ים אֵ֥ת הַשָּׁמַ֖יִם **וְאֵ֥ת** הָאָֽרֶץ׃
In the Beginning Elohim created Alef/Tav The Heavens and (וְאֵ֥ת) The Earth.

It is far more likely that he had simply deleted all the evidence that does not align with his pet argument that 'V' is the sixth Hebrew letter's original or more ancient sound.

      YeHoVaH יְהֹוָה
YOD sheva HEH cholam VAV kamatz HEH. The key to understanding the meaning of the name Yehovah in Exodus 3:14 is Ehyeh "I am". Ehyeh literally means "I will be". Yehovah is a combination of three forms of the same verb, "to be": haya ("He was"), hoveh, ("He is"), and Yihiyeh, ("He will be"). When you combine haya, hoveh, and yihiyeh (He was, He is, He will be) you get Yehovah. Yeshua (in the 1st century) knew the rabbis would forbid (a hundred years later) people to speak the name.
      📖Psalm 91:14
“Because he cleaves to Me in love, Therefore I deliver him; I set him on high, Because he has known My Name.
      Tehillim (Psalms) 91:14 TS2009
📖“O righteous Father, indeed the world did not know You, but I knew You, and these knew that You sent Me.
      Yoḥanan (John) 17:25 TS2009
📖“And I have made Your Name known to them, and shall make it known, so that the love with which You loved Me might be in them, and I in them.”
      Yoḥanan (John) 17:26 TS2009
The Hebrew word for love is ahava. In Psalm 91:14 it's a completely different word for love, it's cha-shak. An acronym that represents the pronunciation of the Name -- יְהֹוָה
cholam, sheva, kamatz, those are the three vowels to the name Yehovah. Blessings🙏

Very interesting, I have read before that the further you go back in history the more similar Arabic and Hebrew are. Also that Arabic is the most well preserved of the afro-Asiatic languages outside of Africa. So with that in mind. Is it possible that the vav changed from a waw as the language evolved early on? I personally prefer the Vav because it flows better.

    • @ZviJ1
      @ZviJ1 4 роки тому

As a longtime Hebrew speaker with a neat command of biblical Hebrew as well, I dunno what you mean by "flows better'. Yet I would argue that the W sound was replaced with a V sound by many Jewish diasporahs or/and communities during the Middle Ages, not earlier. And this occurred under the influence of foreign languages of their host countries, mainly in Europe.

When the historical evidence is not tampered with, it is virtually certain that the letter's correct/authentic pronunciation is a 'W' sound. The V sound comes from German (which ended up among the Ashkenazic Jews) and Castilian (which was inherited by the vast majority of Sephardic Jews).

In Isaiah 3:17 from the Masoretic text we see there is a mappiq in the first Vav, yet there is a silent shwa in the preceding consonant, Qof. From this we know the Vav was pronounced as a /w/ only when adjacent to a fully rounded, long /u/ vowel, in this case the Shuruk. This means Vav was pronounced as a /v/ in Masoretic Hebrew. It was more likely a /w/ in ancient Hebrew. But it may have varied depending on the dialect.

Here, arabic morphology and semantic helps. There is no serious argument about the sound for hebrew ו. So it could be Wa or Ba in arabic, and V could be F, closed phones. The jews was penetrated by various cultures, so their alphabet changed many times (farsi influences, greek, latin and yddish). Now semantic can help : the meaning of W is submission, and B it's the sharing. LaWy fit with arabic because the Levy are dedicated to God (L = service ; W = submitted ; Y = Will/Hand of God). Navi/NaBi, the Prophet Share/deliver a Message. Conclusion, the modern hebrew V is useless, and brings confusion between W and B, and it seems to be invented (or borrowed) after the hebrew written original text.

As we strain to find a resource where we can learn the Hebrew script and language, it seems they all rely on showing us the Aramaic script (square script brought back from Babel after the 70-year captivity). They also insist on teaching the vowels of the Masoretes, invented to divert the vowel-sounds within words.

While I am pretty much convinced that the letter in question was originally pronounced as a "w" in ancient times, I would never go into Israel today and pronounce it that way, that would be ridiculous. In Modern Hebrew this letter has a "v" sound. In the same way, I would never write to someone in Israel in paleo-Hebrew, that is not the modern Hebrew alphabet. As for Nehemiah's credentials and work on the Dead Sea Scrolls, does that make him "smarter" than everyone else? Granted, Nehemiah is a great scholar and I have always respected his work, but that does not make him the only expert on the subject.

Proper disclosure: I live in Israel and have been speaking the language with locals for decades now as a fellow Jew. I have a neat command of biblical Hebrew as well. Jeff Benner's response, and even more so the responses of the uploader at ua-cam.com/video/kKGDlP_QLSI/v-deo.html, prove that a personality cult has developed around Gordon, who has become a demigod to droves of fairly Hebrew ignorant individuals of Christian backgrounds, who cannot get over the facts that his academic degrees did not render him immune from error and lying, and that his *opinion* is at great variance from the established view of myriads and generations of Hebraists, who have countless more decades of scholarly investigation behind them than Mr. Gordon has.
You who virtually worship Gordon should really take some steps back and consider your inane statements; not only is his degree in biblical studies rather than biblical languages, but your expectation for everybody to be bedazzled by his academic accomplishments is really pathetically childish.
The individuals "who worked on the restoration of the Hebrew language for the nation of Israel" believed that the sixth letter's more ancient pronunciation was a W sound, yet they settled for the V sound, since they believed that convincing the great majority of Sephardic Jews and all Ashkenazic Jews, who were already pronouncing it with a V sound, to switch back to the W sound, would be too difficult. I can assure you that at least some of these persons used the authentic W sound at home and would rather it be used by all Jews nowadays.

BTW..... I'll be quite happy if Mr. Benner writes to me in paleo-Hebrew characters, if he ever decides to address me where this is technicaly feasible. There's a sort of sub-culture in Israel where several Jews write and read in this script as a hobby or have even embraced it for their personal use as the sole Hebrew script, in every possible area of life. I know of two men apart from myself who have done this. There may be others.

I like the information here. But I think the theory about the meaning of the information presented could be reversed. Lets say the Arabs somehow in their discipline preserved certain aspects of the language and those majority Jews are wrong in the pronunciation of that letter. Also I was hoping for him to talk more about how the Arabs got that pronunciation in the first place. I was also thinking about the letter Waw/Vav the other day and I was thinking about how it sounds when its used as a vowel is more indicative of its original sound which in my opinion is basically "wuh", like in 'Ruach'. Maybe this usage is vey telling of the Parent root sound. It also makes sense with how the Tetragrammaton is pronounced 'Yahweh' because if you know that all words have a parent root -with a Parent root sound you could see Ya He Wh He (with the back to back 'H' sounds becoming seamless because of their positioning) as opposed to a trilateral child root style of pronunciation Yad Hey Waw Hey, which makes it observably more difficult to obtain phonetic accuracy.. You also see the "wuh" sound preserved in the English "W" to this very day. #justthoughts

The Arabs were nomads and didn't have writing until later. If you study books on how language changes, writing helps languages keep their sounds. Spoken language tends to change, particularly vowels will shift over time and consonants will become silent, etc. It is more likely that Arabic changed than Hebrew since the Hebrews>Jews had writing for over a thousand years before Arabs. Ishmael spoke Hebrew and may have been able to write/read it, but his descendants didn't keep with that tradition.

This guy seems kosher. Definitely did his homework. Though I have heard people that live in Israel say "Wav" like "Wahv", and this sound was scanned by special software, and it looks like the actual shape of Vav. Then again, the small differentiation between the "V" and "W" is very minute. The main difference, I'd say, is for "Vav" with a "V" is that the bottom lip goes over the bottom teeth, making contact with the top teeth. Meanwhile the "W" is different in that the teeth do not touch the lips, but back of the mouth tissue that connect to the lips, and the lips are more pursed. But to say Jehovah is with a "V" and not "W" is really unknown. I would go with the "W" sound, from what I have seen of programs used to scan frequencies. The only way to TRULY know is not from another human or comparison of ancient sources or modern sources... but one would have to enter higher realms to see for himself.

@@ancienthebreworg The Sephardic Hebrew is the pure Hebrew and the 6th letter Vav is pronounced as a V sound and not a W. The Scripture attests that the Captivity of Jerusalem went into Sepharad/Spain. So I'm certain that the Jews that were exiled into Spain knew proper Hebrew. My Israeli instructor taught me Sephardic pronunciation as she taught that this was the purer form of Hebrew and not the Ashkenazi.
      Obadiah 1:

@Tirzah Ifrach You have not duly researched the topic. The purist Hebrew pronunciation, consonant wise, has been preserved among the Yemenite Jews, who did a much better "job" at this than the Sephardic Jews and historically pronounced the sixth letter with a 'W' sound. The Sephardics replaced it in the Middle Ages with the 'V' sound which they received from Castilian. This may be the most extreme example of how original Hebrew pronunciation was corrupted among the Sepharadim, under foreign lingual influence of the host nation.
Even with the vowels the Sephardic pronunciation is imperfect -- it uses an 'Eh' sound for both the Ṣeireh and Segol vowels, as well as an "Ah' sound for both the Qamaṣ and Pataḥ vowels. This is incorrect for the Ṣeireh and Qamaṣ. The Ashkenazic Jews originally pronounced the Qamaṣ correctly -- a combo of the 'Ah' and 'Oh' sounds -- before switching to a pure 'Oh' or 'Ouh' sound for it. And even if they do not pronounce the Ṣeireh entirely correctly, at least it is distinct from Segol's sound in their pronunciation.
Modern colloquial Hebrew is a combination of Sephardic vowel pronunciation with Ashkenazic consonant pronunciation.

So, God creates TWO persons in the image of the Father and the Son. You don't see the flaw in your own reasoning? Jesus said, "I and the Father are one." Not, I and the Father PLUS the Holy Spirit are one. Jesus and the Father are also seen in each other's presence, in Daniel and Revelation. Not a single prophet saw the Holy Spirit in a vision represented as a person. In the NT it is also said that the Holy Spirit is Christ's Spirit. It is the Spirit belonging to the Father and to Jesus. As such it is the divine Spirit. There are no statements that Jesus or the Father belong to the Spirit. Neither does Jesus call the Spirit "his God," like he does about the Father, when he says, "I'm going to my Father and your Father, to MY God and your God." What does all of this suggest to you about Jesus' relationship to the Holy Spirit?

Again, you demonstrate yourself that there's only two persons involved:
If Adam and Eve = one flesh, we have two persons forming a unity. We would not describe Adam and Eve as a being three persons being one, would we? We can not count the "one flesh" as a third person in it's own right. So, if you say, A + E = 1 flesh in the image of "the Father + the Son = 1 spirit", you are only confirming that there are two divine persons. It is not logical to count the sum of two parts as a separate third entity, that you then want to add in order to extend to three persons, thus: Father + Son + Holy Spirit = 1 unity. According, to your logic, we should now count this new unity as a fourth person. This way, you can extend the Divine persons into an infinite number within one unit. Do you not see that your reasoning is flawed?
Also, the phrase "ruakh YHWH" in Hebrew is in a genitive relationship, meaning "Spirit of YHWH", just like "beth YHWH" means "house of YHWH", not "the house YHWH." Likewise, "ruakh Elohim" in Gen.1:2 is translated "the Spirit of God," not "the Spirit God." I thought it would be obvious to anyone acquainted with Hebrew that this is a genitive relationship.

I agree with NG that 'Yahweh" should be off the table; even the German scholar who originally put forth this reconstruction of the name in the 19th century recanted it subsequently (not a largely known fact).
However, try as I might, I cannot see how NG has shown that the 'Yehov(w)ah' version has more solid evidence for its antiquity or/and authenticity than, say, 'Yihweh' (a version that's been used by some Rabbinic and Qaraite communities for over a millennium now) has.

The Sephardic of today is a hybrid with Askenazi. The vowel points of the Masoretic are not inspired Scripture. Kairites, as well as nominal Orthodox conspired, if you will, to intentionally distort the pronunciation of the tetragrammaton because of false translations and thus traditions of Lev 24 as to not speak the Tetragrammaton proper; except by the high priest on Yom Kippur! Yet the Creator states:
    we’re to bless (Psalm 145:21),
    call (Psalm 80:18-19; Ibid 99:6; Isaiah 12:4),
    confess (2 Chronicles 6:24-25; 1 Kings 8:35-36),
    declare (Exodus 9:16; Psalm 22:22; John 17:26; Romans 9:17; Hebrews 2:12),
    exalt (Psalm 34:3);
    give esteem (Psalm 86:9, 12),
    honor (Psalm 66:2),
    magnify (2 Samuel 7:26),
    praise (2 Samuel 22:50; Psalm 69:30),
    remember/mention (Exodus 3:15; Psalm 45:17),
    sing (Psalm 68:4),
and trust (Isaiah 50:10) in His Name (SINGULAR).
Many of the above can only be done VERBALLY! Sound like we are supposed to mute His Name?

Brenton's Septuagint Leviticus 24:10 And there went forth a son of an Israelitish woman, and he was son of an Egyptian man among the sons of Israel; and they fought in the camp, the son of the Israelitish woman, and a man who was an Israelite. 11 And the son of the Israelitish woman named THE NAME and curse; and they brought him to Moses: and his mother's name was Salomith, daughter of Dabri of the tribe of Dan. 12 And they put him in ward, to judge him by the command of the L-rd.
13 And the L-rd spoke to Moses, saying, 14 Bring forth him that cursed outside the camp, and all who heard shall lay their hands upon his head, and all the congregation shall stone him. 15 And speak to the sons of Israel, and thou shalt say to them, Whosoever shall curse G-d shall bear his sin. 16 And he that names the name of the L-rd, let him die the death: let all the congregation of Israel stone him with stones; whether he be a stranger or a native, let him die for naming the name of the L-rd.
This verse #16 is in line with Tetragrammaton suppression, contrary to what the Masoretic text actually states:
    וְנֹקֵב שֵׁם־יְהוָה מוֹת יוּמָת רָגוֹם יִרְגְּמוּ־בוֹ כָּל־הָעֵדָה כַּגֵּר כָּאֶזְרָח בְּנָקְבוֹ־שֵׁם יוּמָת
Using Yahweh's Name respectfully and calling upon him is not blasphemy as Judaism says and neither does the Hebrew text of the Masoretes either! More man made foolishness!
The Septuagint verse 16 is in agreement with the Talmud in Sanhedrin 7:5
Mishnah five deals with the blasphemer and the special circumstances of his trial.

    Mishnah Five
    1) The blasphemer is punished only if he utters [the divine] name.
    2) Rabbi Joshua b. Korcha said: “The whole day [of the trial] the witnesses are examined by means of a substitute for the divine name:, ‘may Yose smite Yose.”
    3) When the trial was finished, the accused was not executed on this evidence, but all persons were removed [from court], and the chief witness was told, ‘State literally what you heard.’
    4) Thereupon he did so, [using the divine name].
    5) The judges then arose and tore their garments, which were not to be resewn.
    6) The second witness stated: “I too have heard thus” [but not uttering the divine name], and the third says: “I too heard thus.”
    Explanation
With regards to the blasphemer the Torah states (Lev. 24:15): “Anyone who blasphemes his G-d shall bear his guilt. If he also pronounces the name of the Lord, he shall be put to death.” From these verses the Rabbis learned that the blasphemer was obligated for the death penalty only if he used G-d’s four letter name.
The problem with putting the blasphemer on trial is that when the witnesses testify and repeat what they heard, they too will be blaspheming G-d’s name. Although they certainly would not receive the death penalty for doing so, it was nevertheless seen to be unacceptable for even a witness to repeat what he heard, especially in a public trial. Therefore, during the court’s deliberation they used a code word, “may Yose smite Yose”. However, in order to complete the trial the witnesses needed to state what they heard explicitly at least one time. Therefore, at the end of the trial they would remove everyone from the court and only the witnesses and the judges would remain. They would then ask the eldest witness to say explicitly what he heard. So painful was it for the judges to hear G-d’s name being blasphemed that they would tear their clothes and not repair them. This was a typical sign of mourning. The remaining witnesses would not need to say exactly what they heard, thereby repeating the blasphemy. Rather they would merely say that they heard what the first person heard.
    Sanhedrin 10: Mishnah 1
    2) And these are the ones who have no portion in the world to come:
    c) Abba Shaul says: “Also one who pronounces the divine name as it is spelled.”

It is a good thing Yahweh has His witnesses in Joseph/Yahseph. Since the vowel points are not inspired with respect to the Tetragrammaton then we have the consonants comprising the Name that double as vowels as well. Matres Lectionis. From the era of vowel pointing, the dialect used in that process was Sephardic, not Ashkenazi. Ancient Sephardic has a "V" sound and it is not the 3rd letter in the Tetragrammaton! It is a beit without a dagesh and that was called veydt, producing a "v" sound.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yahshua
The Assemblies of Yahweh, in both the name Yahweh and the name Yahshua, reject the vowel points added to this name as it produces a hybrid word, i.e. Jehoshua. According to Josephus, in the The Jewish War, Book 5, Chapter 5, Section 7, as well as Hebrew grammar books, the first three letters of the Sacred Name are actually vowels.[citation needed] When the name Yahweh appears in the name of a person, it was always intended to be abbreviated by using the form Yah (Hebrew: יהו).[citation needed] The whole Tetragrammaton is never applied to the name of a mortal in the Sacred Scriptures, only the abbreviated form.[citation needed]
Since these letters are vowels and not consonants, it is impossible to pronounce them as YEHU. They must be pronounced YAHW as they are equivalent to the English vowels IAU.[citation needed] Jacob O. Meyer writes:
Therefore, the first three letters are pronounced as one syllable and waw (Hebrew: ו) draws out the hay (Hebrew: ה), so that instead of a short exhalation as is normal at the end of the hay, the sound emerges as YAHW. Try saying it to yourself

The God of Israel is The Creator of the Universe. The most serious sin that exists is to profane the Divine Name in Hebrew (It is also a sin to desecrate it in any language):
"You shall not pronounce the name of the Eternal, your God, in vain, for the Eternal shall not hold him guiltless who utters his name in vain."
    (Exodus 20: 7)
"And he cursed the son of the Israelite woman against the name of the Lord, and he cursed him, and they brought him before Moses, and his mother's name was Shelomith, the daughter of Dirvri, of the tribe of Dan.
And they put him in prison until the sentence dictated by the word of the Eternal came.
And the Eternal spoke to Moses, saying, Bring out the blasphemer outside the camp, and let all who heard him put their hands on his head, and let all the congregation stone him.
And you shall speak to the children of Israel, saying, "Any man who curses his God shall bear his sin; and whoever blasphemes against the true name of the Eternal will be irremediably killed; the whole congregation will stone him, be he a pilgrim or a native; when he blasphemes against the true name, he will be dead.
    (Leviticus 24: 11-16)
PORFAVOR, I SUPPLY YOU, I IMPLIED YOU! DO NOT PROFANE MORE THE NAME OF THE GOD OF ISRAEL IN HEBREW OR TRANSLATED TO ANY LANGUAGE. IT IS THE MOST SERIOUS AND GREAT SIN THAT EXISTS IN THE UNIVERSE.
Do not do more UA-cam Videos or Blogs on your Web Page, desecrating The Name of God in Hebrew or any other language.
Do not make dissertations or explanations on paperboards or blackboards. IT IS A SIN TO WRITE THE DIVINE NAME DELIBERATELY AND DELETE IT, YOU WOULD BE PROFANING AND YOU ARE BURLING FROM THE CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE.
Do not write The Divine Nombe of God in Hebrew or another language, DO NOT WRITE IT IN PAPERS, NOTEBOOKS, POSTERS, PAPER NOTES, BECAUSE THOSE LEAVES CAN END IN THE GARBAGE AND BE DECEIVED OR STUCK IN THE STREET BY PEOPLE OR ANIMALS.
ALL YOUR PAPERS WITH THE NAME OF GOD GIVE THEM TO A RABBI (HE KNOWS WHAT TO DO-GUENIZA-) OR GUARD YOU IN THE SAFER PLACE YOU HAVE.
Refer to the God of Israel using The Name Hashem or writing God with COMA OR GUION ENTREMEDIO. In this way The Name of God IS NOT PROFANATED IF IT ENDS IN THE SOIL OR GARBAGE OR IF IT IS DELETED OR IF IT IS SPOKEN WITH LAST LANGUAGE BEFORE THE NAME.
You should only use The Name of God on your knees for your personal prayer, to ask for forgiveness or praise or give thanks for Everything. Or in the Yeshiva or Synagogue or Wailing Wall.
I hope that God touches your heart and stop committing the most serious sin that exists in the Universe.

“Jehovah…” (Yehovah) It is widely used in many churches. It is considered by many Christians to be hollowed, and many beautiful hymns also endear it, however, this name “Jehovah” is a concoction of man. Therefore, it is a “mongrel,” a “hybrid,” and it is “fantastic,” a fantasy, and it is “monstrous!” There is something very wrong with this euphonious name Jehovah. Therefore, the name of Jehovah was a name never revealed by the LORD. The facts have only to be known to justify this verdict.
    What are the facts?
Ever since the Babylonian invasion of the Kingdom of Judea, and the enforced diaspora of its noble class in 597 BCE, the Jews have had a strong penchant for hiding the name of the LORD (YHWH) from the Gentiles, thus preventing them from potentially profaning the LORD’s name revealed to Moses (specifically the name of YAH, “HaYAH”, as found in Exodus 3:13-15). YAH is “the name which is above every name.” Readers in the synagogues would inadvertently attempt to pronounce the LORD’s name, as there were no vowels in the Hebrew words within the Hebrew Bible [or known as “The Old Testament”] when coming upon God’s name: YHWH. Later, the Jewish clergy developed the practice, around the 1100s of adding Hebrew vowels created by the Masoretes, to the Tetragrammaton [Gr. word for the four consonant letters of the LORD's name]. The vowels were taken from at least three other Hebrew words, namely, Adonay (meaning Lord, with the vowels of a-o-ai causing the hybrid name YaHoWaiH, or later shortened to YAHWEH), Eloah (meaning God, with the vowels of e-o-a causing YeHoWaH later Jehovah or Yehovah), and Elohim (meaning Gods, with the vowels of e-o-i causing YeHoWiH, as shown in Strong’s Dictionary of Bible Words # 3069). These hybrid names were never meant to form any legitimate name for the LORD but were placed there to remind the readers in the synagogues to say, “Adonay” instead of attempting to pronounce the LORD’s actual name.
Later in Medieval times, the Roman Catholic Church was known to raid Jewish synagogues, take their gold, and the Hebrew Scriptures [the Old Testament], and persecute Jews. Raymondus Martini was a 13th century Dominican friar and theologian. He is remembered for his book called “Pugio Fidei” (in the year 1270 CE). Finding the absconded Hebrew Scriptures in the Dominican Library, and believing he had discovered the name of God, he used the name Iehovah (or Iehova) in his book not understanding that these vowels were not original to the LORD’s actual name. The name and pronunciation of “Jehovah,” (and also the name Jesus unknown until the 17th century) were essentially unknown in the years before 1520 CE, when introduced and propagated by Peter, Galatinus (1450-1540), he held the office of penitentiary under pope Leo X. His chief work De Arcanis Catholicae Veritatis, a book, written at the request of the pope, the emperor, and other dignitaries, in the year 1516 CE, as he also used the name Iehovah in his book. The name Iehovah was altered with the addition of the letter J, which was a recent addition to the English alphabet in the 17th century. Galatinus also did not know of the Jewish practice of adding vowels from an entirely different word, and he did not know that the vowels found around the Tetragrammaton YeHoWaH were from the Hebrew word Eloah, and if he did, he did not care.
Noted Bible scholar J. B. Rotherham, essentially stated, “To give YHWH (Latin: IHVH and later JHVH) the vowels of the word (ELOAH) to remind the Jewish reader to say, ‘Adonay,’ and to be pronounced by the Christians, ‘Jehovah,’ is about as hybrid a combination as it would be to spell the name of Germany with the vowels of Portugal-viz., Gormuna” (The Emphasized Bible, J. B. Rotherham, Kregel Publication, 1994, Pp. 24-25). Jehovah in its present hybrid form has only existed since the 17th century. Fact: The LORD’s essential name is YAH, and Bible scholars have acknowledged YAHWEH (see Strong’s #3050), as in “Praise YAH,” Hebrew: “Halleluyah!” The English “Hallelujah” is a misnomer. YAH is “the name which is above every name” (Philippians 2:9), and YAHSHUA is the only name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and this name is to be known among every language, tongue, as the essential revealed name of the LORD according to the Gospel (Philippians 2:11), YAH, as in HaYAH (the I AM). The Savior identified His name as “I AM” (YAH, see John 8:58). The prophet Isaiah identified the name of salvation as YAH (Isaiah 12:2 NKJV). And “shua” means “my help”, as in “my salvation.” To reject the revealed name of YAHSHUA, which was given by the angel (Matthew 1:21) is to stand condemned (John 3:18). YAHSHUA is shortened from the name YAHOSHUA, which is commonly spelled Yehoshua largely due to the Jewish practice of hiding the name YAH, as a result, scholars would consider YAHOSHUA a philological impossibility, however, they are mistaken.
Je-hovah, “hovah” in Hebrew means, “Ruin, Mischief, and Calamity” (see Strong’s #1942, #1943). The Jewish Encyclopedia, states, under the name “Jehovah,” “This name is commonly represented in modern translation by the form Jehovah, which, however, is a philological impossibility” (p. 160). The Jehovah’s Witnesses admittedly make a similar reference that the name Jehovah is inferior, in their book: Let Your Name Be Sanctified (p. 16). Undoubtedly, the name Jehovah is not the revealed name of the LORD! Many Christian clergy know this truth that the name Jehovah is bogus. Still, due to their tradition, or the fact that this name erroneously appears in the King James Version of the Bible, they hold to this euphonious name for the sake of their tradition, which makes void the revelation of God (Mark 7:6-7). The Lord has a warning for them, “And now, O priests (pastors and teachers), this commandment is for you. If you will not hear, and if you will not take it to heart, to give glory to My name,” says the LORD of hosts, “I will send a curse upon you, Yes, I have cursed them already, because you do not take it to heart” (Malachi 2:1-2). Satan is deceiving the whole world (Revelation 12:9). Despite being told the truth of the one name of salvation, YAHSHUA, they will hold to the name Jesus, Jehovah, never revealed by the LORD. Many will reject the name YAHSHUA holding to be with the many despite the admonishment: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it” (Matthew 7:13-14). The name Jesus was never revealed by the LORD, or an angel of the Lord, and history proves this, as eminent historian Ernest Renan acknowledged that the Savior was never in His lifetime called “Jesus” (The Life of Jesus, p. 90).
Many on the path to the wide gate of destruction have sought to justify their faith in the substitute (counterfeit name) of Jesus, for they say, “I have seen wonders in the name of Jesus, and demons cast out in the name of Jesus, however, the Lord YAHSHUA has this to say to them, as given in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” Those who think that demons were cast out as a basis for holding onto a name that was never revealed by God will find the Lord saying “Depart from Me,” for they are workers of lawlessness! As the apostle Peter said, "Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.” This means that all these names Jesus, Iesus, Iesous, and all the names that come from these three names are counterfeits! Halleluyah, Praise YAH!

What have you got against the oldest Hebrew? ...The ancient Hebrew? ...The picture language?
V is not an airy sound. It’s a hard sound.
And actually none of us were here when it was pronounced!
    V is German. Very German.
They could not say a W. And that is a fact.
The Indians were a lost tribe and they said W.
The Arabs are descendants and said a W. And They aren’t wrong about every single thing.
And seriously The Jews in Israel today change too many things all the time.
We, all Jews agree? You say....But the truth is that you don’t fully agree with the Jews on all the issues.
You said....I’ll bet? Isn’t That’s a smart mouth statement? And you say others are rude? Isn’t that hypocritical to speak against them, then be like that yourself?
My husband and I fully disagree with you on this.
It’s too bad you are a slow learner, rolling laughing, just kidding!
Me and my husband both do not believe that YHWHs name is a hard V.
He is the breathe of man.
I believe the lost tribe of Israel....who became the American Indians are right and it’s an airy W sound.
John Anthony Edwards Jr testifies that as they lived among the Indians their language was Hebrew.
Sam Houston wrote a biography and married an Indian woman and repeated His name as YaHuWaH.
And another evidence to YaHu is that it is in the Dead Sea scrolls in the prophets names.
The Indians did not say YaHoVaH. They said YaHuWaH. Like the Air.
    Netanyahu is not Netanyova.
My husband just said, There are Jewish scholars who say it’s a W. And they teach the ancient Hebrew. One is a Cabala Jew.
We don’t trust this V. But YaH will come and He will set is all right.
Modern block Hebrew is Babylonian. It’s not true Hebrew, it’s corrupt and degenerated.
We fully believe it’s a fact that without the pictograph Hebrew that there would be no modern Hebrew.
We are only scholars through the Ruach HaKodesh. You’ll find this in Proverbs and all through the scriptures. :)
    Also try ancient-hebrew.org
We don’t fully agree with all of what this teaching is, but we believe it’s close.
Much Ahabah! And May we all be made Shalom Shalom( made fully completed, perfect and whole in YHWH.

Abar would be a region in south Irak, and it means to "cross-over repeatitivly" because people living there they had to cross the river both side (euphrate and tigre). Do we have argument to say that these rivers to cross it could be the Nil, and so, more "black skin" people?

I don't deal with arguments. I just see the evidence in the scriptures.

Evidence would be an argument. We know the scriptures, and there is no evidence of black skin for hebrews. Abraham (as) went to Egypt and came back to palestine with Hagar, the egyptian slave. Here just a clue of black skin introduced in hebrew family. The sons of Israel went later in Egypt. We could supposed some hebrews married some black or metiss people.
      No one evidence, but suppositions.

Well, whether it's pronounced Vav or Waw...the vowels have been confirmed in over 1000 sources now that the vowels are "e", "o" and "a" as in Y "e" h "o" v "a" h. So are you all going to argue over the vowels as well. Just ridiculous. Particularly when you have such a stake in it that you WANT it to be Yahuah. It should be that we want the truth and if we find out we were wrong, we are happy to find out what is true. Not have to defend our position
regardless of how many witnesses there are.

Isn't there much difference once you get into Yiddish in pronunciation of letters...I thought the difference between the V and W was mainly Sephardic vs Ashkenazic...I'm not a scholar, just wondering if anyone knows?

The only reason it is not a Sephardic vs Ashkenazic issue is that the vast majority of Sepharadim also replaced the W sound for the V sound in pronouncing this letter, under the influence of Castilian, just as the Ashkenazim did so under German's infleunce. However there are additional Jewish diasporas and communities who are neither, e.g. Yemenite, Italian, Mizraḥic, who developed liturgies, customs and traditions of Hebrew pronunciation that did not fully overlap those of either the Sephardic or Ashkenazic ones.

@@ZviJ1 “Jehovah…” (Yehovah) It is widely used in many churches.
