This was one of the first I Love Lucy episodes I watched as a young fan (at 14 years of age.) Because of that and because it’s HILARIOUS (especially when Ricky tries and fails to teach the girls to properly play 12th Street Rag) it always holds a special place in my heart.
Love this episode. Toward the end the situation spirals when the news leaks that Ricky’s conducting an all female orchestra. After yelling “WHAAT???” and slamming the phone down, Lucy innocently asks “good news, dear?” Kills me every time. That’s what I ask when my husband gets a bad phone call.
Same thing with Ethel knowing how to drive. In the camping episode, she drove up to help Lucy fool Ricky about Lucy’s ability to be a good camper. Then later, when they were getting ready to go to California, Ethel didn’t know how to drive. 🙂
LOL I came here to write the same thing. And her playing never improved, even up until Season 6 in the country when they repeated this same storyline except Fred added the violin. I totally forgot about the camping-trip driving. They clearly didn’t have a script supervisor on set.
@@alandale2182 speaking of the music, I just love Ricky trying to rehearse with them. Ricky (snapping his fingers and dancing): “1…2…” (The band plays horribly which causes Ricky to stop dead in his tracks.) Also, when Ricky brings in his band to show the girls how to play (once again, how come the rest of the tenants didn’t complain?) and when the girls still played horribly, Ricky is disgusted. Haha!

Ricky is the foreigner that came to America but he has the most class.,most accomplished and they go to him for guidance..they lean on him big time
And legally too! Then he became a productive person that helped give our country it's best laughs and all these decades later, he still is.
@@Joanla1954 And he gave us Dezi and Lucie who just retired from show business a few years ago

In some episodes Ethel is an accomplished pianist and in others she’s a rank beginner. Didn’t they realize we’d notice the character inconsistency? 🤓
People probably didn’t notice that back then.

@@beaedens285I took note of that. 😅
Probably because they didn’t anticipate all of us watching these episodes over and over and over again (and laughing every time)

At the 4:42 mark in the video my poor cat lifted his head up as if he was hearing something dying. Lol!!!
It’s amazing that NOT ONE of the other tenants complain about the music.
It's not real!!! so..ummm😮
@@susanlong8978 oh I know. I’m pointing that out.

😊 Fred didn't even have his ears covered up. You can still hear with them on. 😊😊😊😊
They killed music!!
