Choy Lee Fut is a deadly and devastating martial arts. There is an instructor who teaches it in New York City and I really think he’s one of the scariest people I’ve ever seen. I can see always a lot of westerns writing bad comments about Chinese martial arts generally, always comparing it with jujitsu and mma.That is completely wrong. Chinese martial arts main purpose is keeping fit and improving the students person, being confident and kind person. Then self defense in case of emergency only. Don't forget that late Bruce Lee had good impression on choy Lee fut style as a practical martial art. Again it depends on your target. If you prefer fighting aspect you can try mma or jujitsu. But if you would like to study a complete and traditiinal martial art you can study Chinese kung-fu and feet the beauty of Chinese culture and philosophy as well. Do not forget that all traditional styles of kung-fu have a deadly application as well.
Sifu said : when using this kneeling stance, don't let your toe pointing to the ground, rather it should be parallel to the ground , because it can avoid your knee hitting the ground and it's easier for you to stand up and move along .
Too many assumptions and too much commitment for each move. I don't think it is effective against Thai boxing. Like in badminton, people will fake a lot of movements. You can't commit to a certain move. Or you will be exposing yourself. The more moves you have in a system, the more difficult it is to apply in reality. You need to teach people how to fake a move and how to have better footwork in real fights. It is much more difficult to attack and defend in reality because different people will have very different footwork. Your system will break down if you encounter trained fighters with very good footwork. How is this system effective against BJJ? In BJJ, they will fake a lot of attacks and instead attack your center of gravity to take you down. When you are down, your system will be totally broken down. Your system needs to teach students how to avoid being taken down. And you must have some kind of ground game in your system.
