A true classic, beautifully designed and engineered with that distinctive Hoover Junior sound. No modern vacuum would have survived. Shame we did not see the snail being released! Great video.
A very good video, thank you. Given the number of Dysons which can't handle this carpet at all, just being able to push it is impressive. That it also cleaned, a testimony to what Hoover once were.
What I find amazing, this Hoover actually survived despite going through some nasty weather! Many modern vacuum cleaners would have not survived the weather. Wonderful job!
Hermes are an appalling courier firm. I ordered something recently from ebay to be delivered to my local parcel drop off point. They said they couldn't deliver it multiple times as the shop was closed, which was a lie. Anyway they returned it to the seller so I got my money back thank goodness.
@@RJA_World They are going about it the wrong way. Instead of trying to win back drivers from the EU which isn't going work they should be making conditions better for British workers. Lorry driving is a lonely, stressful job with not enough resting areas like there used to be.
@@madwatermelon1316 They need to offer better pay and better working conditions then all this agro will stop. Until then I shall feel sorry for the PFS workers across the country. I've worked in my local Sainsbury's PFS and I know how stressful that job is during normal periods, let alone at the moment.
I look at your dirt demo pick up and want to cry when I see what you put on your lovely plush pile carpet.. Thank goodness for decent vacuum cleaners that can handle the work. Oh and there was not stopping that 'old girl' on the carpet unlike others that would not move.
great hoovers these thats when stuff was still made to last. My mom had one very simlair in south africa back in the early 90s and swore buy it, funny enough it still runs in 2021...
That's so totally like Herpes to deliver like that. I once worked for a courier at the sorting plant and you'd be amazed at how some people wrapped vacuum cleaners in just plastic bin liners and nothing else! The cleaner itself reminds me of the last 'classic' type before Hoover started making plastic casings over the bags. Good that it worked after its ordeal.
I can always hear the fear in your voice when it comes to plugging a cleaner in and putting it on for the first time. That's understandable, after that Miele one went bang that time, whenever it was. Think this Junior needs a new belt.
Hey Roger, I was just wondering if it was possible for us Americans to order and properly use a Hoover junior in the United States, or any 240v vacuum. Just wondering, thanks!
Im from the US. I found it interesting when you mentioned that back in the 80s that vaccuus were sold without plugs. Would that have been because the voltage is different than here? Maybe for safety?
It was an old throwback to when the electrical supply in the UK didn't have a standard outlet size across the country, so manufacturers shipped electrical goods with no plug and you bought the plug you needed for your locality. Believe it or not pretty much *all* electrical goods sold in the UK before 1992 came with a bare wired flex you had to wire to a plug yourself.

I would have gone absolutely apeshit with Hermes over this.
I agree. I would sent it back without question. The person who packed it, and delivered it, was missing a screw!

Hermes are absolute sh!te and always have been. Glad it survived.
A 40 year old Hoover that still beats the pants off a modern Hoover

I ordered a DC04 Zorbster from ebay a month ago, still not here. Luckily I'm getting a refund
@@RJA_World It's only going to get worse with this HGV shortage.
@@madwatermelon1316 Yep 100%. The government are being potatoes as usual and doing nothing about it. They will when they can't get their doughnuts

My grandma had one of these for years, complete with the bulldog sticker.
Thats amazing that it still works
Thank you SOOOOO much Roger I have this all in a cream could and never saw a video bout it!
Amazing Hoover and nice find

love it! ♥️♥️♥️
Wow that like Australia Post have same issue , why they don’t just leave it at a post office
Oh my goodness, Roger! It's a shame how Hermes handled that postage and delivery. Thankfully, the Hoover turned out to be rather nice.
Nice one
the suppressor is under the 2 blue wires near the front, just pull and it comes out, took mine out yesterday.

Aww 🥰 Brian the snail 🐌
Why can't people pack parcels correctly or delivery companies employ drivers with an ounce of sense.

Can you should us how you polish vacuums. My modern vacuum is glossy and lost its shine over the years
Sounds just like something the USPS over here would do
Will it still work 😳?
Glad machine survived, that is shocking from Hermes
Be careful that snail might be related to turbo 😂
Sucks well for a 300W motor!
Retrobrite
Why can't we just stop using Hermes.
