Difference Between 3 Year and 5 Year Citizenship

  • Generally, you can apply for citizenship after 5 years of being a permanent resident unless you are married to a U.S. Citizen, in which case you can apply after 3 years.
    When you apply under the 3-year rule, you will need to re-prove the marriage to USCIS. Other than this, the citizenship process is almost the same.
