I definitely missed these videos. I'm in the same ball park as you with physical media. I still buy it, but because I own everything I want, I don't buy as much as I used to
My February 2024 haul: - Cinema Paradiso (Arrow Video/Arrow Academy) 4K - Face/Off (Kino Lorber) 4K - Kindergarten Cop (Kino Lorber) 4K - The Wailing 4K (this just came in today) Yeah, I’ve been slowing down lately as well. Not even because Best Buy has removed their entire selection of physical media both online and in person, but just because I’ve been saving up my money for things like vacation and personal projects for the most part. I’m gonna be going to Los Angeles at the end of May to the beginning of June with my family for vacation and I’m starting to work on a Mandalorian cosplay since I recently joined the Mandalorian Mercs Costume Club. I’ve also been trying to save space for my collection so that’s been another reason. Although, I do have seven more Blu-rays and 4Ks coming in the mail in March. So I’ll have more stuff soon.
@@SeanChandlerTalksAbout did you see that Sony is taking over Disney's physical media production? Hopefully Sony can release some 20th Century Fox 4ks that Disney has ignored.
Cool bit of trivia about Sam Raimi producing 'Hard Target' at the end there, I also discovered recently that Michael Douglas produced Van Damme's earlier movie 'Double Impact' a few years before. He was definitely riding high from 1990 - 1996 (basically his years with Universal).
I'm a steelbook collector myself and it hurts seeing that best buy abondoned them. Walmart and other stores are now having steelbooks but it doesn't feel the same
Yesterday I picked up: Sideways Friday/Menace II Society/Set it off (Triple Feature) 40 Days and 40 Nights Gangster Squad The Sisters Brothers Stop or My Mom Will Shoot I know, a couple of guilty pleasures 😅
I miss wandering through Walmart with no two for 10 bins so now I have an empty hole in my heart, but I found all of the Jason Bourne films at a thrift shop recently and I was able to get Barbie and Oppenheimer on Blu-ray I hate it when I hear physical media disappearing
I buy a lot of the films online now. Great work on the 4Ks now. I have lots of streaming apps as well but the ads and the amount of times they remove a movie I want to see has pissed me off. I’ll buy the movies I really want.
I mainly focus on DVDs to build up my collection more quickly, but I did buy Tár on Blu-ray since it was only available on Blu-ray and not on DVD here in Taiwan. Other titles I got on DVD last month: (mainly Universal titles because they will be discontinuing physical media releases here in Taiwan, as well as a few Studio Ghibli titles since a retailer I know had a limited-time discount on Ghibli films) Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Last Night in Soho Happy Death Day Freaky First Man Kiki's Delivery Service Howl's Moving Castle Ponyo The Tale of the Princess Kaguya
I pre-ordered the Umbrella Blu-Ray that comes out in April. It does appear it' s only is blu-ray This one: shop.umbrellaent.com.au/products/masters-of-the-universe-1987-1987
I pre-ordered it too, and yes, it's only Blu-ray. Btw - 2 days ago they send me an update e-mail that the rigid case art will be different than the previous shown artwork.
Yes. And when Raimi agreed to do that, he signed a two picture producing deal. The first was, of course, HARD TARGET. But the second one was TIMECOP. So Sam produced not one, but two JCVD films. And some would argue they were his two best.
4K is amazing if you want the best quality of movies you love. I made the jump in November and am obsessed. The format mostly benefits from catalogue movies that released in the 1940’s-1990’s.
What do you gain from getting the 4K? Why wouldn't you get the 4K? Do you own a 4K TV and player? 4K technically has images 4 times crisper. It's the better format. And buying 4K is a bit more to future proof your collection. BUT while 4K is technically dramatically better than blu-ray, at 1080 the image is already very crisp. For my eyes, there's an extremely obvious upgrade in quality from DVD to Blu-Ray. However, there's a minimal noticeable difference between 1080 and 4K. Keep in mind, I don't have particularly good eyes. At the quality of 1080 and 4K, other factors like your TV and the transfer itself suddenly can make a big difference. I think my 1080 TV in my office looks better than my 4K TV downstairs. The 4K tv has dramatically better resolution, but the colors are better on the 1080 and the glass reflects far less room light. I usually prefer to get the 4K to future proof my collection. But I don't want to pay $20 more for 4K over 1080. Likewise, I'd rather have cool features than the 4K. Also, 4Ks only play on 4K players, but blu-rays play on both. I would preferred to buy the BLU-RAY for flash gordon than the 4K so that I'd be able to watch it on my office.
If your HD TV is more vibrant than your 4K TV, it could be a settings issue. Or it could just be the regular HD one is a lot more premium than the 4K one. Certainly possible that a crappy 4K TV could look worse than an amazing HD TV.

I believe that with professional management, your channel could become even more impressive, significantly increasing its reach and engagement. However, there have been some issues with uploading videos that may be hindering your channel's growth. I hope you understand. Thank you, Rezaul Bari
Yeah watched and reviewed Hard Target 2 when it first came out. It's one of my channels very first videos. But I didn't like the film so I never rewatched it. ...until just a few weeks back I put it on as I was going to bed. And I saw Temuera and I'd completely forgot about him. Haha
The epic return of Blu-Ray hauls!
The comeback I needed the most from Sean!
Same I love these videos
Mad respect for continuing these in this current digital age
I could feel the enthusiasm on that “yay” for Expendables 4
yay! it has finally made its hugely anticipated comeback!
Can’t wait to pick up The Iron Claw next month
It's good. But wouldn't say its rewatchable
I definitely missed these videos. I'm in the same ball park as you with physical media. I still buy it, but because I own everything I want, I don't buy as much as I used to
The boutique labels are where it's at Sean. Best picture quality and features. Just be careful, it's a rabbit hole that's hard to get out of. 😂
I remember watching movies on VHS 📼 those were the days

Arrow Video, Shout/Scream Factory, Kino Lorber, Vinegar Syndrome and countless other boutiques are the best places to get the new 4k/Blu ray movies.
Yep

Nice 👍
found near dark on bluray for $5 at a pawn shop.
I’m trying to build up my blu ray collection but I was wondering if I should add 4k or strictly keep it to blu ray
Just get the best version of every movie you want no reason to collect movies you aren't interested in

Absolutely get the 4k because most of them come with a Blu-ray already with a few exceptions like Top Gun Maverick
love the videos about physical media. the boutique labels are putting out so many great releases the last couple years
Please Bring Back Blu-ray Hauls! I Wonder If You’re Going To Do Another Complete Blu-ray Collection Video?
Yes. I would have done it this month but my family was sick all month. March is looking busy. So maybe April or May.
There are 2 animated Starship Troopers movies??? Wow, I smell a bad movie night in my future!!
Yep. Watched one of them late last night.
2:54 if only I can find this
I just bought it off amazon

I keep wondering why Sony doesn’t bring back the starship troopers franchise for a new big budget summer movie
True but the previous Verhoven remakes didn't make the money they expected.
Ok
