I get bored driving automatic. And driving manual is a skill, and most likely has youngsters engage in their car more rather than being on the cell phone and driving at the same time. Fewer sleepy heads falling asleep on the road since they are more engaged. Just my 2 cents.

As a european that is used to manuals I can assure you that's just not true. In my country (Spain), the vast majority of cars are manual. The most common cause of accident is distractions while driving, ahead of exceeding the speed limits or DUI. Once you're use to drive in manual, it's pretty easy and you don't need to pay too much attention to the road.

I have been driving manual for 35-years and I just bought a 2019 Dodge Challenger widebody scat pack with the 8-speed auto. This transmission keeps the 392 cu in in the torque band all the time. With paddle shifters this care is awesome, and dont miss the manual at all. This is a fun car to drive in sport and track mode.

A 4-speed manual was a requirement for any car guy/girl with 2 working legs.
So basically, a car with an auto was considered a 'granny-wagon' as a rule.

Speaking like someone that hasn’t driven a manual transmission as a daily driver. If I wanted to use paddle shifters I would play a video game. When it comes to driving a sports car, I’m old fashioned get a manual transmission. The only good point I found in your video was faster shifting and remote start on automatics. @@arthurchalle4124 actually if you want to kick up the throttle response go and buy a Pedal Commander. I have a 17 Challenger T/A 5.7L 6spd. I also have the Z automotive Tazer and I bought the 3 buttons for the pod on the right side of the steering wheel where there is a three-button wide cover panel. I have the Tazer set to start the car in sport mode always so all I have to do is hold the traction control button for 6 seconds and if the oil pressure is low enough away I go. The Pedal Commander has taken my average MPGs from 15.7 to 18.9 since the beginning of 2019. As far as the fuel economy my average fuel economy has not been reset since approximately 11:30 a.m. August 22, 2017. So benefits are when you want the extra punch in the throttle the commander gives it to you when you want higher fuel economy you don't have to push on the accelerator like you do in Factory sport mode. The benefit of the taser is you don't have to spend any extra time when the car is already warm putting into sport mode because it already starts that way. Between the two of them it was an extra $570 but those, mainly the Pedal Commander are already starting to pay for themselves. Now the three buttons I bought for the dummy pod on the right side, well it's not a dummy pod it's just covered, I am able to use those for other functions controlled by the Tazer and due to the taser being installed you can also remap your sport button to be used for something else. Mine from left to right are set up to be line lock, physical sport mode button because the car comes out of sport mode when you let off line lock, and the last one is for the engine cool down mode that the Tazer offers.

Also glad you pointed out that paddles work with or without manual mode. I drive with my left hand ready at the paddle for a quick downshift when needed. Also, does the challenger shift down to the lowest gear it can tolerate, when you hold the left paddle (or hold shifter in "-") for over 1 sec?
I also envy Mopar owners because your shifter goes foreward to downshift, and back to upshift, in BMW style. Even though I've never owned a BMW, I feel that's the way it should be. Seems more natural to pull back when it throws you back in your seat... Maybe there's a conversion kit?

Forgot the haters. Almost all the reasons you list are exactly why I want the auto. People who only want the manual already know what they want and there's no convincing them. If I ever get another stick, I'll save it for a classic car
I had 2 cars with sticks for years, I got rid of both and got an auto, and I just don't want to go back. Sure, when you drive a stick it becomes 2nd nature, you don't even think about it, but when you go back to auto, some of us just enjoy the relaxation of it. I still go for the clutch & stick all the time in automatics, it's still 2nd nature, but it's much more relaxing without it
And driving a stick in San Francisco can be fun, for about 5 minutes, then you wish it was an automatic...
Plus, I can let people drive an auto without worrying about how well they can drive a stick (*some* people in *some* situations of course...)

I'm 72 and in my day, we all knew how to drive a stick. I had a stick in my 2016 Challenger Hellcat and what I learned is that a manual transmission is a great anti-theft device as most young people can't drive a manual. Having stating that a manual can be fun to drive, I found my Challenger Hellcat became tiresome to drive in an urban area. It became a pain is the butt in any kind of traffic, going from first gear to second gear and back to first. It was only fun when you got out on the highway with light traffic and you could open it up.

It's fun to listen about troubles with driving manual as wrong clutch usage or trying to shift on 2nd gear with 80. I am from Europe and always used manuals, the same as 99% of people here. Now i bought a Challenger R/T with automatic gearbox. It is just much more comfortable. And that's it. In every other way manual is much better. But I don't care, I will use it as a daily driving car, so it must be comfortable.

Now, I love my stick, I’ve used a stick for daily for the last year and I honestly want the auto challenger, but that’s because I’m looking for a nice daily that I can use all year round, and for me that means snow as well, and the auto in the snow is so much nicer then the manual, I don’t think I could use the car in the snow with a manual, also the throw and feel between 4th and 5th on the new challengers is really odd and can be easily messed up, and for a car I want to use daily I want it to be reliable, having to replace a clutch is expensive and when it’s going out is gonna suck to drive. I love the manuals but i would only want the manual if i rarely drove the car. Lastly tho, I would want the auto because I still have the option to making it a manual-ish shift and you’ll have 8 gears to climb apposed to 6 and it just a lot of fun. All in all I love this car because stick or auto,v8 or v6 the car is nice and really give a feel to the driver that’s uncanny to any other car made today that don’t cost 60k or more, well done dodge

Here’s my take on all this.. traction is everything I don’t care if you have a six speed or an automatic if I hook up in my six speed and you have no traction in your automatic I’m going to beat ya . So when people say the automatics faster yeah in a perfect world if both cars hook and maybe by a couple of tenths of a sec. as far as the fuel economy goes a friend of mine has an automatic 392 and drives like a bat out of hell and I can tell you I get better gas mileage with my stick it all depends on how you drive the car period. As far as a fun factor goes the six speed outweighs the automatic big time I will agree if it’s your daily driver an automatic is better. My 392 is not my daily driver. Also a automatic is more likely to be stolen then a six speed you’d be surprised how many thieves can’t drive a stick.

The 15.2 is because of only city driving. Back when I used this as a daily driver I was getting around 19 or 20 if not more. The higher gear ratios allow for better fuel efficiency. This is primarily witnessed at higher speeds when you are in 6 or 7 gear. A manual doesn't have 8 gears so naturally you went get the same efficiency.

Many new drivers who learned to drive manual make a mistake of giving it too much gas as the slowly release the clutch. This over time will burn your clutch out...But I belive Manuel give the driver more control. All valid points, with one exception... If the remote start feature is a must have, it can be added to a manual transmission vehicle after market. It'll cost a little more and activating it has a few more steps, but it can definitely be done.
One plus of buying a manual is the lower purchase cost on the used car market. Last month, I bought a used 2015 RT Plus after watching the price drop $1,000 over the course of 70 days.
I'd been searching for a manual in this price range, and with the newer body style for over a year. I never even considered an automatic and when I bought it, the dealer told me 3 interested buyers had come to see it, but couldn't drive the manual transmission off the lot. I plan to alternate daily driving between the Challenger and my 2013 XTS which I'll probably use EXCLUSIVELY when the Michigan winters make automatic start a daily requirement.

There is another issue, the $1000 gas guzzler tax on the manual. The Automatic option is $1595. When you select the automatic then the guzzler tax is removed. So the auto really is a $595 upgrade. This applies to the SCAT PACK. But when comparing for a R/T car the trans is a $1595 cost as the guzzler tax does not apply to the 5.7L motor.
So really depends on which car R/T or R/T Scat Pack.
Hellcats auto is more money, and you also have the gas guzzler tax as well.
