  • Before there were bilingual education, non-English speakers were placed into special education classes. It was decided to start a bilingual education program to properly address the needs of English language learners. But a lot of these kids are not successfully transitioning to mainstream programs. Was the creation of these programs a wise move?

Bilingual education is definitely a step in the right direction. Learners may pick up on everyday English socially but that does prepare them sufficiently for academic English. This is where bilingual and TESOL programs come into play..
