Ed, thanks for doing the videos as I have found them really easy to follow with some excellent tips. Like you I am thinking about moving my resin printer to my shed but I have noticed that your shed doesn't have any insulation in it. I insulated my shed years ago and it makes a massive difference. I stapled foil bubble all around the walls between the joists and for the ceiling I used thick polystyrene sheet (30mm approx.). My shed roof in an angled roof and the polystyrene works really well. I wouldn't glue or stick the polystyrene to the roof as its a pain if you have a leak and need to find it. I cut the polystyrene sheet so it fits between the roof joists and keep it in place with a few screws in the joists to support the polystyrene because there is no weight in it. As you have a gabled roof another option is to put in a false ceiling. For the floor I used spare loft boards to re-enforce the shed floor and add a bit more insulation. I would advise adding a few small vents in the shed walls about 6" from the floor to prevent any condensation. I did this about ten years ago and I live in the North East, so it can be a bit cold up here. But to keep my shed at about 24C I use an electric oil radiator on a temperature switch. This works well even in the winter with a few inches of snow. Also because I spray paint in my shed I have a spray booth which vents to the outside. But for the printer I am thinking about using a cheap cooker extractor in a DIY enclosure. Anyway Ed I hope this gives you a few ideas and thanks again for the videos. Ian
Thankyou for such an informative comment Ian. Reinforcing the shed would be a good idea. The main reason I probably won't is I am hopeful the channel makes just enough so I can replace it with a bigger one soon, it would just make processing everything alot easier and of course would improve the video recording side of things for the channel. When I buy a new shed it will be fully insulated and done properly (for once). The temperature switch for powering a small heated is a must for me. I have lost a screen to the cold before and don't want to do that again. Do you notice a big difference in energy bills ? Mine would be just to stop it from freezing. Ventilation is one where I am in two minds. Do I try keep the fumes in so the carbon filter can work through the nasty stuff before releasing it into the wide world or do I vent it out immediately passing it through a filter. The shed being surprisingly watertight considering the holes it has in the sides which naturally provide some ventilation. Thanks for watching, EP
