    Thanks for the tips. Hoeever, it have been nice to see it with a bottle or other jack more similar to what people would have with them on the road. Most folks don’t lug a floor jack along (although would be nice to have if needed). Also could have spoke about using a “Trailer Aid” ramp etc. as many folks do have them. Or even using your “lego” block levelers-if you have enough- to lift one of the wheels up get the other off of the ground. Likely safer than using a Jack in many circumstances.

    Chris, great video. Keep up the great work! You might want to include that once a tire has been removed and replaced on the Airstream, the lug nuts have to be torqued initially, and then torqued again at specific intervals. I believe the recommended intervals are 10, 25 and 50 miles. I have always had to re-torque the lug nuts several times after installation, before they finally seat and stay torqued.

    Great video. Heard so many people talking about tire shops not correctly jacking up the trailer and causing damage to the axles. I spotted my square like you showed and will make sure I and the tire shop uses this point to change the tire. Thank you so much

    We the airstream customers need one of these for the 16x basecamp. The jack points seem lame and the left side has an electrical cable right through that pad. I would be grateful if Airstream or any of the dealers has any hints in this area. I suspect the unit is heavy on the left because of the design. My experiences this morning with a cinder block 4 2 x 6’s and my bottle jack were not pretty. This could be a nightmare on the road. The manual states to Not jack under the axle. My thanks in advance!

    Where do you place Jack stands if you want to store it elevated?

      There are specific marked jack locations under the trailer.

    Great job on this and all the other videos you’ve been doing. These are great for reference. I never thought about Jacks and thought that I could use the one in the pickup truck for our Bambi 20. Do I have to get a
    Bottle jack?

    • @colonialairstream
      @colonialairstream  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, you would need a bottle jack, preferably the one in your tow vehicle.

    But what happens in front of the trailer?? It’s hooked to a truck?

    I'd be interested in knowing when to change a tire before it gets flat. That is, is there minimum acceptable tread like a car tire?

    • @colonialairstream
      @colonialairstream  3 роки тому +1

      Yes, same rules apply. Please check with tire manufacturer for specifics.

    Man oh Man---you need to apply for an INDY crew before the 500:) Great job!! can you add a link to the type of torque wrench you were using?

      Tim, thanks much. Any torque wrench like it would work. We are not promoting a specific one.

    Chris: Nice demo. Recommend a lightweight jack? Something stable and able?

    • @colonialairstream

      Scott, a bottle jack will also work.

      @@colonialairstream Got a bottle jack rated 8K lbs. Also, the 2020 20FB single axle's wheels require a thin-wall 3/4" deep socket. (Normal sockets won't work). I got 2. Then a 24" breaker bar 1/2" drive. Finally, a clicking Torque Wrench also 1/2" drive. I think I'll need a 4"-6" 1/2" socket extension also.

    Note of caution. On my 2016 23fb, my lug nuts are 3/4, not 13/16. Remember to double check your size

    Who carries a 3 ton jack with them?

      You would be surprised what is already in your tow vehicle.

      I carry a Pittsburg 2 1/2 ton aluminum floor jack from Harbor Freight, a Milwaukee M18 Impact wrench and a Milwaukee M18 portable tire inflator. The M18 battery works with both. The floor jack also allows me to service my tow vehicle, RAM 2500 Diesel. The jack only weights 54 lbs. and will lift 5000 lbs.

    You were Not specific AT ALL as to where to place the Jack-it is critical to someone without a clue!

      There is a sticker label under each Airstream in the specific locations.

    Seriously? Everybody should have a battery powered impact gun. They are cheap, and far superior to doing it that way

    Do older airstreams have a marked position to place jack? Mine is a 1976 25’ Land Yacht

      Yes, my 1961 also has that. It is a plate riveted to the rear frame behind the axle.
