And as someone who primarily goes to audiobooks and is hugely supportive of artists and creators getting their fair shake---I am insanely excited about this! Wow. I also love that this program is able to continue fostering someone's joy, that the program and his talks can foster an ongoing rediscovery of something that is inspiring and endeared to people. I'm so happy you had this opportunity. I can't imagine how brilliant of an experience both the moot and visiting Kelly in person was! You deserve all the good things. And if they're wise, I can think of one content creator that certainly deserves the opportunity to live their passion... one I might be typing to at this very moment. Drout did a talk about Tolkien's infamous quote regarding allegory: "... I cordially dislike allegory in all its manifestations, and always have done so since I grew old and wary enough to detect its presence. I much prefer history, true or feigned, with its varied applicability to the thought and experience of readers.” He focused particularly on what Tolkien might have meant here by "feigned history". Shippey did quite a broad talk about what he called "urban fantasy", and how various modern authors have used mythology and fairy stories in an urban setting (as a Pratchett fan, I really enjoyed his brief discussion of Ankh-Morpork!).

I have watched it before, yes! I saw Corey's episode with them, and I've seen a few of their other episodes. I can't see them ever inviting me on there... but perhaps I'll be in a position to invite them onto my channel, one day. I hope so!
Never five upon audio books. There many people out there who are blinf, or have vision imparements that make reading a paper or e book impossible. I haven't beenable to read a book or anythingfor that matter in several years. Unless I xan expand it on a computer screen, I cannot make ut the letters because my left eye is shot. Retinopathy plus a cataract and complications due to diabetes.
Yes. Thanks for sharing that! I think audiobooks are incredibly important for, not only accessibility, as Corey said here, but also different types of learners; many, many people learn and absorb information best in an auditory form, rather than visually through text, and there's absolutely no shame in that.
Truly The Rings of Power is "the book that Tolkien couldn't write." Prof Tolkien would have been unable to write something so bad even putting all of his efforts.
