that's the thing about muse. so much of who they are comes from their rhythm section. anyone who's ever tried to cover a muse song knows: the guitars and vocals and stuff are flashy and exciting and compelling, but the greatest virtuosity lies in the drums and bass
Log 287, I have been constantly replaying "Helsinki Jam" constantly for 17 days now, and I can report no physical or mental damage or strain. As a result of constant perfection flowing through my ears all the way down my body like a vibrating snake, I can in fact suggest that my musical abilities have improved. Despite the occasional panic when I forget to restart the video, every part of my being is as happy, calm, and relaxed as can be. I hereby resign, as this is how I wish to live my life.
Yes. you get it. There is a woman I work with whose husband is a DJ, and everyone the other night told her that it wasn't real drum and bass. So I learned this riff, and all I need to do is take my bass and my amp to work and show her what real DnB is all about.
He's bending the strings. On some strange chord to get that dissonance effect. Try something like E-A-D4 G5 Of course i have no clue what tuning this is in or if he has a five string bass or what not. :P
actually while it is a drums and bass, DnB is electronic music characterised by beats between 160-180bpm, which this is neither of. So it a drum kit and a bass, but not true Drum n Bass. sorry.
I might get a lot of dislikes on this comment so I'm not trying to provoke anything. Chris is like mY idol and the reason I wanted to learn to play bass but It almost looks like he's not playing, like when he strums he's using one finger and those chords obviously require fast fingers can someone please explain this !!???
Hes using Hammer ons and pull offs. You can tell hes playing live as he makes a few mistakes in this video. Quite a big mistake that they both smerk at
Laugh... If u knew what was good for ya. But I'd be happy to remove the comment if you're insulted... Which, was not my intent. Both dudes are badasses. IMO.

No, the greatest virtuosity lies in the mesh of all three members' talents, not one or two individuals' skill.
Amazing rhythm section. Like a modern day AC/DC

I'm assuming you've done this for 7 years straight now and have ascended to another realm of existence.
I almost forgot to watch this today!
The stage set was amazing
This band can make an album just from the live midsong jams.
Chris must have fingers made of lead, he is barely tapping those strings!
Dylan Barlow his bass is made of lead HOT DAMN
Best bassist ever man my fav band member of muse love chris he just hammers that bass
i love there facial expressions in this!
This is what a heartbeat sounds like during an eargasm. True story.
Muse needs to do a version of this with Spider Dom and let it feature in Avenger's End Game.
Love hearing Chris make weird bass sounds at the start. Methinks he's been pinching some ideas off of Matt ;)
This was the most fucking awesome birthday ever
That was so beautiful :')
Soooooo good. Thank you!

This is why i want a bass :D

Does anyone know what Dom's china stack is to his left above his two floor toms are? Been hunting round and cant tell what they are "/ Help please?

@TimPaiste97 From the looks of things they're just smaller high hi-hats that are on a normal stand. maybe?
Wonder who put a rip in doms drum
Hmmmm I wonder
Nicola Russell matt
Brilliant bass, this owns hysteria anyday!

I'm a guitarist but I assume he's using hammer ons and pull offs.

So you LOOK at music eh?
He has lights on the neck of his bass how is that boring omg?
Status fucking Graphite! NOTHING boring about that!!
Bruce Willis plays bass for Muse? who knew...
@bobbeefcakesuperman
If you look at them they look like a 12" and 10" china stack. Similar to what Portnoy has.
1 dislike? damn haters :D
Nice bum Chris
