Thanks for the informative video. I am up in Hanoi on a 90 day visa but I’m flying down to Danang in a couple of weeks. I am Charlie from Boston USA. Cost-of-living much cheaper here than Mexico all around. People are friendly whether is tropical. See you soon. Thanks for everything you do.

When he's talking about the noise like "karaoke" he is not joking. Noise pollution in Da Nang is serious business and if you choose the wrong area they will have parties until 4 AM that shake your home like the thunderbolts of Thor. Then construction begins at 5 AM.
I know - it's a - "seek and ye shall find" - sort of thing. --- Not sure where or what area would be - "ideal for me" in such a large city and potential 'area' for living ? Perhaps a bit of an exploratory visit along the areas offering the best street food options is a good place to start for me since I won't be cooking a lot. Inexpensive plentiful and varied options for food - and a frugal but nicely furnished studio with quiet long term cheap rent would be just fine with me ! --?-- Essentially - a low cost budget w/o a lot of extravagant fancy frills !!! I'm old alone and quite content this way - until the end...... Need to protect savings on a $1600 SS USD budget.
Does an international drivers permit allow you to rent a scooter to visit the properties? I've heard it doesn't cover scooter or motorbikes, only cars, if thats what your permit says?

Hi we are from your neck of the woods with a view of Penshaw Monument lol, we are traveling January to Vietnam's Da Nang, looking to stay off the main drag back just a little 5 min off the my khe beach not on top of bars but a short taxi 6-7 min, as a keen traveller to Asia, a day trip to Hoi an is about as much as hubby will endure with mass tourism in a small town, any advice.
Placed a booking with Agoda the Cardile Grand, hotel 1year old , every thing is just a grab taxi taking about 7min, or is that an exaggeration, looked at the district you said but looked more younger vibe, need comfort for the old bones,
Wouldn't it be convenient to offer US $100 or so to a hotel employee where you are staying initially and who speaks English to help you with this apartment search? That's what I would do since it may give you a little umph in negotiating with the landlord.
Excellent idea - done in the Philippines for negotiating with locals and getting better rental rates to avoid 'grigo pricing' from expats who they see as rich.
There's a significant Western expat community in Da Nang. While it's difficult to provide a precise number, it's estimated to be in the thousands. The city's growing popularity among expats is due to its combination of affordable living, beautiful beaches, and a vibrant atmosphere.

When you find a place, a meeting will be arranged with the owner in most cases, and you can make a much better deal with him/her directly since there are no middle-men to pay, plus the owner/landlord actually like to meet their tenants, so it doesn't hurt to look presentable instead of showing up in some weirdo cargo shorts, a tank top and black socks with dress shoes...:):):) yes I know it sounds horrific, but it's unfortunately a common wardrobe for many westerners. Anyway, have fun and stop listening to all the endless babble from people who know about as much as you already do; get your feet on the ground and simply look around, then start knocking on some doors and you might even meet some nice people in the process.
