Not only has Oasis never gotten canceled from their behavior in the 1990s, but there is still actual demand for Oasis to reunite. They could sell out Wembley on a Wednesday if they really wanted to.

@@MedalionDS9 Yeah lmao, the tabloids and media were out to get them for their behavior, and they're still seen as jokes in most of the rock world and many of my close friends agree. I'm the only Oasis fan in my friend group haven't really met another fan outside of the internet. Yet a reunion from them is in high demand but I'm sure a lot of people would also tune in expecting a trainwreck. Although I'll give them credit on the fact that I've never heard them say bigoted shit.

Aye. Dead-on, that assessment is! I very much enjoy his Oasis videos as a #MadFerItAmerican! Maybe it's because my father had a pretty damned-good, 'blue-collared' job that was a part of a labor union over here. Idk. But I immediately identified w/The Gallagher Bros & their working-class background. I loved a lot of Nirvana's tunes! Both the hits AND the deep cuts! But fuck me! I was no more than 12 when Cobain (allegedly) shot himself, & as I got a few yrs older, the fan worship was so intense, I was legitimately afraid one of my friends would "off themselves" to be like Cobain! And plus, I wanted laid, & that wasn't gonna happen w/long, greasy hair, shot-to-hell blue jeans, ratty flannel shirts, & shitty shoes! I wanted to dress sharp, have shorter hair, wear cool shoes, & then get laid! Oasis made all that possible! (except, of course, the getting laid part! Hehe. But that DID come shortly after I got a haircut, different clothes and shoes, & learned guitar!) I just hate that they'd already done Earl's Court, Maine Road, The Point Depot, Loch Lomond AND Knebworth before they really caught fire here! Oh, Wonderwall blew them up in America in Winter of December '95/January '96, but we weren't aware they were abt to do these HUGE, MONSTER FUCKING GIGS, to over a quarter of a million fans in August '96, because the internet wasn't everywhere! But they finally got their due, Stateside, & became a *true arena rock band* in '05, on the 'Don't Believe the Truth' Tour! They sold out Madison Square Garden, The Hollywood Bowl, Red Rocks Amphitheatre, The GMU Patriot Center, & Credit Union 1 Arena, just to name a few of the largest venues they sold out on that particular tour..

    • @mywhychromosome
      @mywhychromosome 2 роки тому +2

@@matthewrider6453 As a fellow yank, I know exactly what you mean by how long it took them to get their due here (exacerbated by Liam's seemingly constant sabotage or abandonment of US tours), although, in a sense, it was cool...I didn't come around to Oasis until they started making headway again with "Don't Believe The Truth", after which I went back and started listening to all the early b-sides and etc etc, I had been into much artier/punkier/experimental stuff (still am, but there's room for all of it now). But I had a friend that saw them multiple times before that, and he was seeing them in relatively small, largely general admission venues whereas in the UK, you get stuck with those massive, faceless, I-need-binoculars stadiums where it's not even worth seeing a show, if you ask me. In the same way, on Noel's first HFB tour I saw him at a smallish theater and it was very easy to get close to him in general, whereas again, in the UK, even him alone is enough of a draw to end up in one of those yawning cavernous megaplexes. So there are advantages.

I can tell you one part of Noel's account that is definitely wrong. West Ham were not on a preseason tour of Holland. 1) It was February, that is the middle of the season and 2) West Ham didn't play in Europe that season. So if there were any West Ham fans on the Ferry they weren't there to watch West Ham...

@@user04683 February is actually the middle of the season. It runs from August - May. That's why West Ham couldn't have been playing a pre-season friendly, pre-season games are in July. And, as West Ham weren't playing in European competition, they couldn't have got that muddled up with a pre-season game.
I'm not saying there weren't any West Ham fans on the ferry, just that if there were, they weren't going to Amsterdam to watch their team play.
Noel is a great storyteller but he does on occasion like to embellish. There might have been a handful of West Ham fans going to Amsterdam to get drunk and high and fall in the canals but there wouldn't have been loads of them.

Guigsy was known to be the most sensible one , and the only one who had a good job before they made it. If he was made redundant shortly before this, BT could easily have paid him 5k by cheque, and he could have taken out the cash in £50 notes from his bank. I can't see Guigsy being the type to have 5k in forged notes.

They undoubtedly had the tunes back then, but without all the tabloid publicity, Oasis might have just been as big as a very big NME band. The ferry incident was probably worth about six months of touring, publicity-wise. Likewise the stupid chart battle a year or so later. Blur were much higher profile and sold more albums until both bands ended up on the six o'clock news. By the time Morning Glory came out in October, Oasis had a years worth of national tabloid coverage and it's little wonder the album took off like a rocket. Wonderwall just added more fuel.

I’m sure I’ve read or heard an interview where it said Noel still played the show as a short acoustic set… never seen it confirmed but would love to know what the set list was if so being so early on.

If this incident is early 1994 then it's impossible they met football supporters on a pre-season tour. As pre-season is always in July.

I’ve been on the overnight ferry and there was a brawl on our crossing too, couple of people got put in the brig and taken back to England on the return trip. Pretty common, you don’t put bands on an overnight ferry

Great video mate! I believe it’s possible that Liam didn’t know they were fake, seems like he was quite gullible back in those early days. So either he’s sticking to his story and doesn’t want to admit the 50s were fake, or he didn’t know and still thinks they were real and the bar was giving them a hard time about legitimate money. Lol who knows! Great video as always, keep it up!

It wouldn’t have been a pre season tour in February!! So I don’t know what he’s talking about West Ham being on a tour!! I wonder if he’s put the West Ham v Manchester United fan fight on a ferry in August 1986 into their situation??

I'm glad Noel got the last of the float. I know what it's like to be the only sane member of a band, so I was really happy to hear that! What a bunch of dickheads, it's no wonder he always looks so annoyed. I imagine he could have played the 'Dam gig solo and he probably would have done just fine.

Wow I always here people, from The Foo fighters to fans all saying they want Oasis to reunite! But everybody is forgetting the feelings of The band itself ! If Noel doesn’t want to reunite because He feels He doesn’t want too, Well Then Everybody should show their love of the band by respecting & supporting His decision! Just Thank ‘‘em for their LOVE & MUSIC AND JUST MOVE ON…!!!??

To dovetail off the comment below, I agree that you've just grown & grown as a content creator, & as a #MadFerItAmerican, I want to give you a nod from Cape Girardeau, Missouri, aka the "Show-Me State!" And this particular cape is located right upon the ole big muddy, The Mississippi River, & I can see the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge, which takes you across the river, into the neighboring state of Illinois, all lit up at night, from my front f@¢king porch. So cheers! From Cape Girardeau on the Mississippi River, in the state of Missouri, in the U.S.A! WELL DONE! Keep up the good work!👍🇺🇸🇬🇧

This really explains why Oasis were over before they began. They were never serious musicians, and they were already living the perceived ‘rockstar’ lifestyle, without putting in the hard-yards and getting established before being derailed by drugs/booze. They probably had more success than they ever remotely deserved, and probably only because Liam sold papers..he was good for the newspaper/magazine business.

MORRISSEY, bowie, suede, pearl jam, jov division, etc. i love oasis. but hate noel. do you know how many guitar riffs he stole. over 25. and the lyrics he wrote are simplistic at best. liam was oasis. even if he wasnt playing anything.

however, lots of american bands at the time were good too. what got me into britpop tbh. (i am from nyc) once kobain killed himself. it felt a lot of the music was too depressing. to PC, and when i first heard on mtv 120 minutes. which was a show in america in friday nights that played music from the uk. im like right, this music is happier, fun, and i was 22 at the time. tired of the heroin addled grunge shit. and yeah thats bout it

@@chrisschneider850 Yes, Noel uses simple lyrics, but you don't need to be a poet to deliver a message and touch the heart of the people ... Anyway I' m not a musician I can't judge, I just speak about the feelings and emotions I have while listening to his music. Simple as that. Everyone to his own taste ;)

Great video, as usual. But this brings up a lot more questions: The pic at 0:55, is that you James in the tanned cap? LOL. But seriously, if Noel was really that keen on the gig why would he take the band float off the Road Manager and go around Manchester spending it on booze and drugs?, that was his first mistake. Then after getting pissed and drugged up on the way there, why leave the other guys to their own devices while he went to bed? that was his 2nd biggest mistake.
After watching literally hundreds of Noel's interviews there's no doubt he never lets the truth get in the way of a good yarn. He's funny, articulate, witty and has a great turn of phrase but has to be the biggest bullshit artist in the music business. 😄
