  • We visit the Gap & Natural Bridge in Albany, Western Australia. Situated in the Torndirrup National Park, The Gap is an impressive and rugged granite channel carved by the waves of the Great Southern Ocean crashing against the coastline. This has formed a rather spectacular sheer drop of almost twenty five metres down to the ocean. Just a few meters away from The Gap is the Natural Bridge formation of granite which has been gradually wearing away from the force of the waves. During stormy weather the force of the waves can crash right up and over the top of The Gap.. throwing water and mist high into the sky. The day we visited was unusually calmer ocean waters.

It’s a beautiful world we live in Jodie if we choose to go looking for the beauty. Think I got really lucky this day though with the rather epic sunset and the storm was rolling in over the ocean. It honestly felt like I was in another world standing there on the rocks.. 😀

Hey Cel, isn’t is such a beautiful place to explore.. I love how the cliff top rocks drop to the ocean,, and how the hills and mountains just rise up out of the ocean.. so beautiful. OMG you gotta get on and edit yours.. It is really hard finding the time to edit though. 😀❤️

Thank’s Shirley, yes I watched it a few times as well. There are so many beautiful spots around Albany.. We will have to make another trip… Would you believe when it is really stormy waters, the waves crash right up and over all the walkways and rocks… enough to spray your car with sea water… I was actually annoyed at first when my sister pulled the smiley face when I was videoing.. bit it actually gave it more character and fun.. yes she made me laugh too when I watched it back. ❤️❤️

Thank you mate. I’d say 98% of the video was shot on the iPhone 12 Pro Max. I so appreciate your comments. Looks like you have some great shots on your channel too. Oh, sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed your message yesterday. 😄

Thank you Kevin. It so helps when you have such a beautiful and epic like surroundings. (The wave’s crashing against the cliffs are normally much bigger and you get wet from them trying to look)

Wow! Like I mean WOW! How small and insignificant does this structure make man look! You could not have picked a better day to film, we had sunrise/set and all the beautiful colours that it brings to the palette. Absolutely stunning! The mirriade of colours within the rock itself are quite amazing, the rock sitting in the water appears to be purple. The rust staining reminds me of the rocks along Nightcliffe in NT. I can imagine it being quite scary on a really windy/stormy day. I should think the sound alone must be deafening! Once again you have shown us the wonder that is Australia, a country of amazing diversity and contrasts! Another winner!
In UK the weather is best described as unsettled. Wet, very wet and windy. We haven't had any flooding where we are but there has been plenty of localised flooding, though thankfully nothing like they have had in Europe or China. I'm hopefully nearly over my bout shingles. The cooler unsettled weather of the past week has helped! As always, take care and stay safe.🤗

Hi Rosemary. You always describe the feelings felt perfectly! We so felt tiny in comparison to the massive rocks and cliffs.. OMG you have no idea how lucky we were to have such a good evening weather.. There was a big storm/rain clouds coming across the ocean as the sun was setting.. it felt like we were in another world watching.. The sunset was really beautiful and watching the ever changing colours. Would you believe that on a real windy or stormy day, the waves hit those rocks and cliffs with such force that the water and spray comes right up and over the entire walkway.. enough to often spray over the car park… We would have got very wet had that been happening the day we visited.. Yes, the video doesn’t quite capture how loud the sound of the waves crashing and hitting the rocks is. (Or the screams of people watching it sometimes). I love that you have enjoyed it.
You sound like you are getting the same weather as we have been in Perth.. it has been really windy and wet here too. In fact we have had our wettest July for 20-30 years (or something like that). Thank god you haven’t had any flooding.. the last thing that you would need. Great to hear you are almost feeling better. thank you again and take care too and stay safe. 🤗❤️
