This video will not be monetized & also do not attack the people that are mentioned in this video.
Why not?
They certainly attacked you
haters gonna hate chibi thats how people act when the truth is said
pfffff as if we *can* hate you ;)
Chibi Reviews Little bit of advice, *DON'T BE A SUCK-UP to crybabies who get triggered OVER A F**KING GIF!!!!!*
A gif YOU even said you didn't know who created it & didn't even take credit for it. What the fuck!!!
To be honest this seems like an artist that stays on Tumblr, especially with the whole threatening to false flag attitude. That kind of mentality is frequent on that platform, especially over a gif of all things.
The only time when I see the whole credit the artist, which is appropriate in my opinion, is when a picture that isn't yours gains a substantial amount of attention.
I’m a Artist myself and things like this are bound to happen. Obviously some artist are very careful with their art , but you didn’t steal the art because ......
1: You didn’t take credit for it !
2: The artist shouldn’t have been so aggressive about it . He would’ve told you in a calming manner to give credit for it.
3: It’s social media ! Everyone is bound to share art and not know who made it.
Anyways cheer up ! Be a little more careful next time. There’s a lot of assholes out there.
Shouldn't the "artist" have their name on the gif, if she considers it as "art" worth fighting over.
zam023 to add on. This person never watermarked, signatures, or add their url inside the art.
zam023 Yes that’s true ! Thanks for reminding me. That’s another negative against the artist. He never put his signature or mark on the gif signifying it was his.
OppaiDragonFan exactly Agee with everything u are saying
OppaiDragonFan pls explain how a gif is art
Sorry but, "stealing a gif" is the most ridiculous statement ever. There are sooooo many gifs out there, and I don't see anyone crediting anyone.
TheB&BProject. Really though I feel like the artist might have just been looking for a shout out by doing all of this
Yeah, then he/she should've just asked and not act like a child.
And people are still defending her on twitter.
Honestly, it sounds like someone looking for a fight. I’m with you, since when were gifs considered mona lisas? Was it because chibi has a lot of followers and therefore he’s expected to credit gifs and memes and such? And who the hell has the time to spend on YT ‘punishing’ someone?! Get another hobby, geez.
I did the research on this guy, curiouscat99❤mydearpeanut on twitter apparently he's a sponsored pro gamer in south korea who has nothing else to do but to start drama.
Sigh...Chibi this video should have never been made. you have absolutely NO reason to apologize for this. thats just people being petty
He was mainly getting things of his chest to set aside distractions in his mind.
Man. Wait until you read some of the tweets ranting about him. It's so fucking petty.
As a way to relieve the stress, I feel like it's okay for Chibi to do it. It also prevents more misunderstandings, if any might wonder about it. But you are right, it's not always needed ofc
G1F True but you know how people go after him.
maaan chibi tho? hes litterally one of the most level headed people on youtube. so sad to see people attack him for something so small. oh, and the GIF ISNT EVEN GOOOOOD
Actually chibi youre correct within that “offensive” post in this specific case, the way the gif was posted on the internet guarantees it becomes a meme that spreads everywhere, if they wanted to keep it to themselves they shouldn’t have posted it online...
no reason to hate you man will support you all the way
If you really want to help him, help he understand what he did was wrong.
uvuvwevwevwe onyetenyevwe ugwemubwem ossas Chibi literally said not to do that
Andrea Brokate he was not wrong because if he was with that logic the artist that made the gif stole it from the manga
#ProtectChibiatallcost
Andrea Brokate He literally did nothing wrong.
Vocal minority starting shit per usual... Glad you can keep it together when bs is thrown your way chibi. Good man
You didn't profit from the tweet.
You didn't claim to have made it.
You didn't have to give them shit.
Cav That's not how it works
Andrea Brokate he reposted a gif? There is no process to this shit whatsoever.
Gibbs J You guys are being as immature as the people who attacked Chibi
Andrea Brokate yep! I'm as immature as a guy who made a gif off a preexisting work and cause bullshit drama on social media.
Andrea Brokate um did he ask ishida sui or perriot if he could use their content?
Why didn't the artist just say something like, "Hey it's mine, thnx for sharing." That would've been the better thing to do
madlee in love That would make to much sense 😉
The artist was a complete dimwit for approaching the problem the way he or she did, but yes, they should've said something along the lines of that. =)
As an artist, this whole thing is stupid. If you put it online, it WILL be reposted. This is why you put a signature or something on your art, that way people know who made it.
That's just how the internet works, and if you can't handle that, don't post your art online.
No exactly!
Alcor The Dreambender Here's a video explaining that the person who made the GIF, is actually is the one in breach of Copyright Infringement. Because it's not there content, even if they drew it themselves.
ua-cam.com/video/utM2q5XE7z4/v-deo.html
As an artist myself; WTF? Are u kidding me? XD Did you ever read about DMCA? It literally protects your art, along with the law of intellectual property and copyright in order to protect creators. Man, this comment makes me sick. People like you are the reason why something like this happens. 'That's just how the internet works' NO it's not. Most of the social media has DMCA files, you can take anything down that is 100% made by you. Why are artists vanishing or why are they using ugly watermarks? People steal their art, but they have literally no right to do so. You can do something against it. If you don't do anything, it's clear something like this keeps happening.
xSanichi Reposting is not the same as art theft.
Reposting will happen, and eventually someone WILL not know who to credit.
This is why you put a signature on your work, so people can always give the due credit.
It only becomes theft when they try to pass it off as their own. In this case, you have every right to be angry.
Oh? I clearly know what art theft is. I've filed several DMCA takedowns and I know what I'm talking about. You break the law, no matter if it's art theft or reposting without permission. And no, you don't post something if you don't know who did it. Also it's really easy these days to search for the original post. It's not almost 100% chance every time, but most of the time you can easily find the original in seconds. He probably didn't even bother to look for it. Nope 'Credit to the artist' is not credit. Just because you write this in a post it doesn't mean you automatically don't break the law? Even with watermark, people don't credit you. In every case, the artist has the right to take down their creation from reposts/art thefts :3
Good god this is stupid, it's just a gif not the end of the world.
Asakura YT that what I said man people who argue this crap while others go hungry, die, need help........humans bruh (sorry for bad english)
Yea right, first world problem
Asakura YT 23 minutes over a meme?
I did the research on this guy, curiouscat99❤mydearpeanut on twitter apparently he's a sponsored pro gamer in south korea who has nothing else to do but to start drama.
So dude is mad about a gif? Did he created the orginal image he used for the gif?
Other guy just wanted attention, and a chance to play the victim. At this point he still hasn't been shouted out, the one thing he was whining about. He didn't want a solution.
musicf3b WTF are you saying?
musicf3b that's exactly what your doing trying to get attention and he had no reason to apologize over a gif someone stole from a manga
toxic wrex
Talking about the other guy
musicf3b ah shit well that's my mistake and I apologize I'll leave that their to own it and show my stupidness
Lol 😂
He couldv'e replied to the original post saying "I'm the artist." And this wouldve never happened.
or put a damn watermark on his "art". seriously has that artist ever used the internet before?
thelordelric True, a watermark would've solved this just as easily.
This could've honestly been handled in a Direct Message instead. But the artist chose to make it public.
How sensitive do you have to be to get triggered over someone using a gif XD
Isn't gifs made for everybody to use?
EXACTLYYY
Not necessarily and he is using it on a video/videos like he commissioned them.
Welcome to 2018, where everyone attacks you for every minimalistic thing under the protection of their computer screens.
Chibi's argument that he did not create it is not true people make art from bleach, Naruto, One Piece and get commission from those pieces of art although not their original idea they make it their own which is why artists are allowed to cover songs as long as not commercially used or taken without consent or paid to allow their use.
He did none of those three things which is why they are upset someone could take credit for their artwork/gif.
I do not see why Chibi is upset he is clearly in the wrong if I made a channel just like his made a video talking about the things right after he used them and I am not talking about chapter reviews but his content and style people would say I stole his Ideas the same thing has occurred here except it is not allowed in media/art.
I liked the character development in this chapter in Chibi's Slice of Life. Seriously though, in his defense, once you act like a bully you lose all credibility possible; trying to personally attack a person just shows you'd rather hurt people than have a constructive relationship.
Llss
Seems like they're just trying to drum up some publicity for themselves at your expense.
quito787 that's exactly what they are doing. They should be ashamed of the themselves
Common sense aint too common
ThatAnimeSnob DeletedVideos spell "material" correctly, before you attack someone. :/
trust, you're not copyright material. but we gonna pretend you dont post pictures and other things on social media. do you ask those artist is it ok? im curious.
ThatAnimeSnob DeletedVideos no he doesn't. He said himself the art wasn't his to begin with
You don't need to credit someone for using a gif, that's just stupid.
If they want credit, they should watermark it.
Exactly
Doesn't everybody understand how easy it is to make a GIF?
Recorded a small section of the episode, and then plug it into a website to make it repeat and into a small enough resolution.
If this is over the picture I think it is, it wasn't even a gif it was 8 screenshots smashed into one...
I can do the exact same thing in a 1-2 minutes
Exactly what I thought
I don't watch you a lot, so here's the point of view of an outsider I guess..
To be honest, as an artist and a UA-camr this makes me a little disappointed. Within the art community it's a big thing when someone doesn't credit you, and I understand why. But some people take it too far. Like I get what they said, but all they had to do was say "hey can you also take it down" or "I don't like my art being reposted" or even "can you credit me, thanks" along with what they said. Like is not that hard they didn't even offer that or like say take it down. They didn't even give you instructions on what to do with it. So it's like I don't know what you expect LOL. Like what were you supposed to do after that, delete it? Was it okay to leave it up after you credited them? I don't know I was just confused on that part. I forget whether you asked for the original link or not, but if you did then they should have just given that to you or just told you to delete the tweet.
As a UA-camr I'm disappointed because this makes art UA-camrs look bad this makes artist look bad and it just makes UA-camrs look bad in general. Now people won't take us seriously when we want our art credited because sometimes people go crazy over it and it just ends up in a shitshow for no reason when it could simply be fixed. Like if someone were to repost my art if they're not making money on it or anything and just didn't credit me but attempted to by saying credit to whoever made this, then I'm sure they don't mind crediting who made it if you just told them who made it. Now when people say "credit to artist" and half ass it, then I see why someone would be upset comma because they didn't put in any attempt to even try to credit them. But sometimes you honestly can't find who made it because of whatever reason, which is fine because they usually show up like this and tell you that it was them who made it, or someone else. I'm not saying that's for every case but it happens.
To be honest this was just a big shitshow for no reason. Both parties were wrong at points and I'm glad that you know when that was and took responsibility for it, that's how things should be handled and you handled it very well in the end. I just wish that when these situations happened people knew how to handle them, because when you tell your followers about something like this then of course your followers are going to defend you because that's why they follow you. So when you both did it then yes you both do that's what was going to happen. Deep down you know that you will be defended because that's why people follow you because they care about you. So that artist knew. And I'm sure you know that your followers will defend you.
Now I'm not sure about all the accusations that I guess have happened in the past for you, but I'm looking at it now and I feel like all of this was just silly and could have been handled way better. I'm sorry for the outcome and that you have all these people after you because I'm sure it does not feel good I would hate for that and the artist would hate if that happened to them also. Like they can't get angry at you if you're trying to credit them but they're not letting you? It just doesn't make any sense. And I'm glad that you made this video or else this would not be my viewpoint on this. I would think that you're being really shity especially with that tweet LOL. But I commend you for doing that and I think you did the right thing.
LOL I'm sure no one cares about what I just said but I just had to get off my chest. Also if there are any errors I'm using text-to-speech so suck my big toe.
This is the exact viewpoint i had. While Chibi made the mistake first, problems are meant to be solved, not magnified. This is one reason why the general public find it hard to value or respect the work artists make. It's when the general is naive about how to properly use an art, and instead of being taught how they were immediately hammered down to oblivion. We don't have a compulsory curriculum that teaches every person to right way to handle every single type of art, so we can't expect everyone to automatically know if they made a mistake and how to rectify it.
IcedLemonTeaX EXACTLY. But for some reason every artist is like "no they should know better" yet we are even taught to steal art in school (the US at least) lol. But like no one is born knowing this stuff.
i think this is a problem that happens in life overall, even school itself. Everyone is expected everything, and it's sometimes hard to say who is right or who is wrong, because sometimes everyone is, or no one is. The world needs more love, patience and kindness. We should talk to bring people up, not bring them down.
But after reading a particular comment under this video by someone else, it seems Chibi has been doing similar things (worse than this) multiple times, most probably without realizing it. I hope he actually does learn from this mistake and learn more about using ideas or images properly, because if he continues doing so even unintentionally, his channel will face the consequences. It is one thing making a mistake due to naivety, it will be another thing if he does it next time out of ignorance instead.
This is one of the most rational comments on this video, & pretty much summed up everything I was thinking. Although I'll admit my take had more expletives, & the questioning of the social competence & communication abilities of the artist in question >_>. I don't think Chibi is completely blameless, but this whole thing could have been solved with any of the methods you mentioned in about 10 seconds of rational thought saying "I'm the artist, please credit me/take down post/I would appreciate if you wouldn't repost my work thanks". I really respect artists, but when someone acts like this I can't defend this kind of immature behavior. This is not how adults should be behave. This is what I expect from people who are self-obsessed, narrow-minded, & generally incapable of recognizing when they have made a mistake. It's just a mess that didn't need to happen. Bleh >_>.
Ok, i know this will not be readed but hell i have to say it. At first i wasn't mad at all when i watched the video, but when i went to check out the actual gif it got me f***ing triggered. As a graphic design student who had made some gifs and animations before i'm f***ing mad that he/she got so dramaqueen over a 2-frame piece of $1 deviantart commision-like gif, i mean if it would be a goddamn piece of art i would slightly understand it, but it looks like a damn deviantart/tumblr belowe average crap that takes 2 minutes to make, like common you have to do so much fuzz about that? oh jeez i don't know what you are trying to say (insert the simpsons cat wanting food.gif or not because you can get sued it seems). Chibi, you gave this crap way more atention that it deserves, hope that this drama bs didn't affect you much so you can keep the good work. Saludos desde Argentina!
Pablo Ferrito readed doesn’t make sense
Pablo Ferrito Lol. This sums all my thoughts as well. +1
50 cents*
Yup. If you don't want people to use your work, leave it in your portfolio for employers to look at (WHERE IT BELONGS), not on a blog where any Tom, Dick and Henry can carbon copy it.
You know what makes me even madder? the friggin chainsaw isn't even animated! come on man...
I don’t think anyone can legitimately hate you for this.
CaseyDoesNightcore ikr
uvuvwevwevwe onyetenyevwe ugwemubwem ossas don't do that...
uvuvwevwevwe onyetenyevwe ugwemubwem ossas this is the type of the things that make him look bad do you really think this is helping him what is attacking the guy Twitter going to do and would you think you he would want you to do this
Does people on internet need reasons to hate something?
No this guy is actually responsible for bringing people to attack Chibi
twitter.com/charade_s
A reason to hate chibi? That’s impossible
Michael Mattson facts
WHAT IS THIS MADNESS??!?
Rapes a kitten...
A reason, spoilers in thumbnail with huge ass text.
spoiler in his titles
Seeing this just makes me want to pop my veins. Honestly, while you do have some flaws, I really enjoy your videos and you're also the reason I just got into Tokyo Ghoul this month and now I've got the first three volumes of :re and waiting for the fourth. I'm rooting for you Chibi-senpai!
Superb Animegirl Don't pop your veins I can assure you it's not GOOD 🙃
The guy was from tumblr, and seemingly a furry. Two groups known for being aggressively protective of their art. (though claiming a gif is yours if it's copied from a show is honestly pushing it a bit. Unless altered in someway, you could literally make the same one yourself.) Him starting drama over it and getting fans to attack you (while pretending he doesn't have a following.) Is immature and to be expected.
You said two things that I would advise to avoid saying in the future, because a lot of people use these excuses and they can be turned around on you. The first you already realize is a problem. 1. Don't post on the internet what you don't want stolen. (While there's a hint of truth to that. UA-camrs, artists and musicians shouldn't have content stolen just because they want to share their work.) and 2. Showing your art (or you in general) gives you free publicity. (Reaction channel's #1 defense. And it's false. Also, negative publicity isn't actually always better than no publicity. Like when people review terrible games, it doesn't increase that bad games sales one bit.)
I think the first post you made was completely innocuous, and he should have just stated he was the artist and not made such a hassle out of it. I know this advice is rarely followed, even by myself. But don't get yourself into social media fights, it's never worth the time wasted. And you'll have to try harder than that if you want hate. Have a good day/afternoon/night.
ewwww furrys are the worst type of people
Kaneki & Touka Cowboy fan ???
I thought psycho's and murderers are.....
TheCultOfNep
Amen to that
Damn, you were really mature about all this, and if anything I respect you more as a human. Your a good man at heart, and everyone, or anyone were backed into the same corner you were, they’d probably get a little heated up as well. I know I would. And just accepting your failures is what makes your actions so... smart. You were also really able to outthink a whole lot of people tryna be rude to you. Damn
You're a good man Chibi. We love you.
I can't agree more Chibi is an awesome guy.
Most definetly
If the person that made it just said "That was me" the whole thing could've been avoided...
Amen brother .Chibi did not try to monetize his work, he should be thanking Chibi for exposure. Just say that is my artwork and end of the story.
I think the artist is living under the the rock and didn't get the Chibi "give me the original link" nod.
dinozero2 that’s my problem with chibi though, I personally don’t give a shit about this twitter stuff but he has used others art for thumbnails on UA-cam that he has monotized without crediting the person who did it, I have more of a problem with this as he’s been doing it for ages
Big Boss Sam alot of people do that in general but seriously most of his thumbnail are either from manga or anime scenes
Dio Brando the ones from manga and anime scenes I’m fine with, but wouldn’t you agree the rest are a bit shitty
After watching the whole video I even love you more. I don't think anyone would hate you chibi.
"Even if you die, don't die!"
Gifs take 5 minutes to create. Just saying. He doesn’t even own the footage he used
So true. And if the artist posted it somewhere like Gfycat, isn't anything open to fair use anyway? If that's the case, it's out of the artist's hands and they're being a pompous ass
The artist seems very pretentious. He/she could have easily stated they were the OG creator of it. ALSO, to get removed from UA-cam because of copyright on Twitter? A couple of screws loose don't you think?
Mediocre Editz lol
The artist sure is laughing rn for having some publicity out of this pointless drama
Chibi you clearly lived long enough to be a villain. *laughs in Vader*
So if he "stole" an image on twitter. Why does his youtube channel have to be reported? It just sounds like they are jealous and looking for an excuse to terminate him.
Unlucky_kat because youtube copy right strikes is fucked
By law you are free to share art. Copyright works to defend financial royalty of content. However, if you are not profiting you are FREE to use material.
This is called cyberbullying. Don't worry about it. You are not in the wrong in any way.
In no way initially you did nothing wrong.
The Wonder Blunder
Thank you because that is exactly what this is.
He used stolen artwork and placed them as his thumbnail for a couple of videos and he monetized those videos. So yes, chibi DID MAKE A PROFIT from stolen work and deserves to get his ass chewed out.
If this was the case - The original artist cannot make a case without providing evidence. Sadly, cyberbullying is not a proper form of relaying the information.
Consider the fact that the GIF was used because it referenced a source. If the artist has copyright ownership of the image used, the individual is using art that is not originally theirs and is profiting from it.
I'd probably assume that the artist did not copyright the image though especially considering how unprofessional they were.
The Wonder Blunder pretty much, the fact that there's no watermark and his first post to chibi isn't to clarify that they are the artist can be use as an argument that it's fair use.
Mister Buttcheecks
As an artist, what this person did was unproffessional and downright petty. All he/she had to do was say "Hey can you specifically credit me for this artwork since I'm the person who made it and here is the original link so I can get proper exposure."
Chibi shouldn't get chewed out for that. And that person tried to pretend that they were completely in the right for the entire situation.
You are a nice kid. This situation will dissapear sooner than you think. Don not worry or they win :)
member when people shared stuff on the internet for fun and because we are all fans...I member.
Chibi from being your follower for a couple a month's now. You have been the most genuine and honest UA-camr that I have watched. I watched your video since way back when and you haven't changed much as most UA-cam do. I hope all goes well for you and keep your head up! ❤
i really like when you tubers give out actually facts about what''s happening in a situation rather than trying to protect just themselves and blame everything onto the other side. Thanks for all the good work, Chibi, and if it happens that you find this comment, i want you to know that you really helped me during depression throughout these 2 or 3 years that i have subbed to you. You made me happy and i am sure a lot of others will feel the same. I am thankful for you for letting us know your current situation so we never feel like we're in the dark.
Thank you bro
Hating Chibi......Nope can't do it.
Artemis Arrow Its like saying, "Don't breath".
If they did report you and have your channel deleted, All hell will break loose and that artist and fan base will be burned down to the ground by your fans, So good thing you said not to hate on him
Yo chibi,
you keep me through the day with your amazing videos. I have honestly no reason to hate you. You make me smile and thats the best thing you could do (for me atleast)..keep doing you and never let situations like these ever bring you down because at the end of the day us chibits have always got your back.
So they tryna terminated chibi over a shitty GIF... yeah that's gonna go well. clout chasing 😂😂😂
so this all started because chibi reposted someone else's meme?
Exactly. Absolutely unbelievable.
samuel fox no watermark on it too, thats a sin right there
thelordelric fucking people.
Also, how many people on social media reposts gifs/videos/memes without even giving a fuck who it belongs to? You have to watermark your shit. If you don't, you have no right to cry.
dumbass has it happen to him before and he doesnt even watermark it or put something on it that belongs to him lol
Wow. You are not in the wrong at all Chibi. His gif was made from a series he does not own and does not havr the rights to. So what moral does he have to come at you and talk about crediting the original source? Is that guy actually serious? Fcking hypocrite
Not Hohenheim If the artist made the gif, he needs to be credited, regardless if it's from an already existing series.
In this case yes, but if the gif uses the OG artwork from the show you are 100% incorrect. This specific case happened to be with fan made art, not art from the show.
Chameleon Bro I can use a couple of websites to shit out a gif in about 5 minutes, it doesn't make me an artist to do that, and the guy could've just said "hey, I'm the guy who made it, can I get the credit" instead of being a dickhead and attacking someone for liking his stuff.
Chameleon Bro Thats kinda dumb, If i Covered a song by the Rolling Stones and changed the chorus and posted it, I wouldnt be so anal if someone were to share it and not credit me, ITS NOT MY SONG
you don't understand copyright then
Dude. 30 people left Channel Awesome in 24 hours and it was revealed that one of the most beloved members abused barely legal girls multiple times.
Reposting without quoting seems SO tame this week.
Please don't tell me it was Doug
Aparently it was the late JewWario.
Es lo que hay what the hell holy shit
It was confirmed by the (ex)PR person that it was JW. Their response was calling them liars, and only presenting evidence that accidentally revealed it was JW even though the victims were vocal about not wanting the attention nor needing vindication at this point (they posted the discussion about firing him with date stamps, days before kicking Justin out and they failed to fully censor his name).
At this point Guru Larry is the only one openly with the channel as he kept posting Highlander and PUBG references all night long.
Brad Jones and Erod are still with CA too, unless I missed something.
News flash for them, you can't put anything on the internet and expect nobody to share or use it. _That's why we put our names on our fucking work._ Even kindergartners know it.
Lily Woodrow facts
4:25 ..... *SO WHAT?!?!?!?!* Its just a Gif of an anime/animation.
"Oh no, i can't use this Gif because i don't know who created it😂😂😂 *BOOHOOOOO* "
meme theft man, its a terrible crime
It's disrespectful to not credit someone who worked on the art when you can do a quick google search and find it.
xSonicSeedrian It’s also disrespectful to bring people to attack someone when you could just correct them, oops.
mark james *_OOPS_*
xSonicSeedrian lmfao it’s a gif bro they didn’t do shit but use a cropping tool and images that were already created by someone else
What the hell is wrong with that guy?! It's a freaking gif! He could have prevented the whole situation if he had a shred of maturity about it! Don't feel bad Chibi, there is no way you could have handled it any better.
Chibi you're a good man and we never hate you it doesn't matter what's the reason is. We all love you and support your work. Ignore that peoples who are jealous of you and your work.
Hope this doesn't get you down. Honestly all of this over a gif is wild. Thank you for making this video. It's a concept of copyright that hits home but when crediting artists, that's inportant but easily solvable.
In all though, if people leave you then people leave you. They must've not cared in the first place :/
Much love. Smh
Hi Chibi! It's upsetting to hear this happening to both sides - either way, it's just bad for everyone, but worst that the most extreme people are not those directly involved, but those who just want to get into the party of throwing others under the bus.
I can understand how your situation was, and thank you for your transparency and final resolution to clarify the matter. Handling anxiety is not easy, especially in unfair circumstances. I do earnestly hope that in future conflicts, even if you have done your best to solve the problem and you are still not understood, that you'll be able to overcome your heated moments and prevent adding fire with replies that (while true) obviously can be unintentionally misunderstood as arrogance or ignorance. This is because sadly in realistic society, once we are in the wrong, no one will try to see the right we will do, and will just magnify it if we slip up again.
I still agree that we are all just human and we oofed up every now and then, but for your personal sake I wish the best for you that you may grow stronger emotionally against life challenges. Best regards.
P.S. Oh, just an additional tip for this specific circumstance...
When facing people who don't deal situations in a straightforward manner, we do the opposite and make it as clear as Escanor's Sun. Then they have no way to find further faults in us other than the fact we made a mistake because of not understanding the full situation. Like if I met that 1st reply from the artist, I would have asked immediately if they could tell me the name of the artist because "I did not know since I may not have found it from the original source, that's why I credited it anonymously. I would be grateful if you can tell me who that is, so I'll update my post!"
That would have saved you so much of the unnecessary anxiety after that. It's okay if you don't agree with me, but I agree with all your arguments so far and I still hope for the best.
Edit: I feel that the way you handled this video is not the best way to address the issue, though. And the one thing that I don't think can be confirmed true is if the artist actually send people to attack you (Their reply doesn't seem to imply that objectively). They probably did it on their own accord, just as your fans would probably do the same.
The artist clearly wanted some attention from this drama.
I mean, I'd be pretty upset if someone took my art without crediting me. Of course, this is the internet, and it's bound to happen.
xSonicSeedrian He didn't know who did it,but he gave the artist credit.Imo the artist is butthurt, that's all.
Edit : Chibi did not even say that he made it like some fucks do,FOR FUCK SAKE.
xSonicSeedrian Was this "Art made." Or cut and re-use from a certain anime or show. Then who ever made that gif has to ask permission from the person creator of the show himself.
I agree. The artist took it too far. I know it's frustrating when your art is constantly being stolen, but c'mon, you don't need to flood hate to someone for it.
I don't do any artistic work so my view of the things might not be perfect, however as long as the person doesn't share the picture like it was their own creation, I don't think there is a reason to get upset. Especially if the person wrote something like "I don't know the artist but credits to them" they are clearly not trying to steal your work.
Even if you got upset all you have to do is mentioning that you are the artist and demand to be credited or the tweet to be deleted. With such a response that person probably wanted a small argument to boost their popularity but when Chibi didn't answer them, they complained about it to their fanbase and this whole drama came out.
close your computer . close your phone. sit back and relax. you did well to say this and let us know.. have a good day, sir
I am trying to comprehend the artist’s intention and logic. I thought if you publish your work online, you should know that it’ll be copied and distributed unless you put your watermark or condition(s) to it.
Chibi didn’t do anything wrong.
It’s his/her failure to approach it objectively.
Well said!
I love your content man and you have handled this situation so maturely, I honestly give you a lot of credit. The guy just wants attention and you keep doing what you do.
Everyone go spam gifs on twitter now XD
Thomas Cavanagh fr. So freakin stupid
Thomas Cavanagh ya know. I'm gonna have to say this takes the cake lmao
Thomas Cavanagh not only that. But if it was his, why didn't he make sure everyone knew it was his. If you care that much, put something on the gif that clearly states that it's yours. Smh
Thomas Cavanagh yep.
Watch out for the weaboo police.
This is all just petty. I saw the arguments on twitter, the way they handled it on their side was not appropriate. It was a gif you posted that meant no harm. Don’t trip about it too much Chibi
He's a furry, don't worry. His opinions are automatically void.
Its a female.
♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ Still trash
♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ doesn't change a thing
Based
I was gonna say the same thing LMAOO
This is a bunch of crap, People use Gifs and images 'All the Time' this is a thought out and tactical attack at you chibi if you clearly said hey I dont know who made this but credit goes to them, Thats it thats enough you dont need to be digging through twitter to find the artist you've done enough if someone wants to send you there link here after then you'd just reapply it ??? Some people these days man
I did the research on this guy, curiouscat99❤mydearpeanut on twitter apparently he's a sponsored pro gamer in south korea who has nothing else to do but to start drama.
NecroticPlasma thought so he probably lost at a tournament and was super salty
Kanzaer real Ha lolz that guy must be a sore loser
Smh 🤦♂️
Honestly if they try to take you down, sue you or whatever... they would lose. One they attacked you, and two they are using a gif that they didn’t MAKE. The art they didn’t make, they are “stealing / using” the art work and making a gif from that... people are seriously SO stupid...... I hate people!
Chibi you are god sent because never in my life have I heard of a person so quick to apologise and I respect that
All the artist had to is say was "Hey man thanks for the credit but please don't repost my artwork again please :)" Butthurt little man lol
evandragonfire Would've saved Chibi the stress at least
Yeah those uneducated children have ZERO clue about copyright and plagiarism. I saw scientific publications (where it´s 10 times more important to do correct citations) with people citing anonymous authors! EVERYTHING that was published to the entire public (for example a picture on google, something everyone can see) can be reused as long as the person who reuses it does not claim to be original author. So you saying not yours and credit goes to the original author makes you be absoluteley on the right side. If the author wasn´t smart enough to properly label his work but published it, it is 100% his fault when people cite him as an anonymous author.
but as is said you did do a citation...... so nobody can blame you....
+IIIRoman Agree. Looks like the word of "I don't know who made it but credit goes to them" doesn't ring as "I'm giving credit to the creator" for some people.
Do you have any clue about copyright and plagiarism yourself? When you cite anonymous sources, you have to give evidence of where the statement or content used was located, so even being anonymous means the source must be able to be located by following the specifications of the reference section (title if available, year of publication if available, site where retrieved if available). The artist's alias, year of publication, and site retrieved from existed. Chibi did not give the artist's name or link back to any of their social media, so, quite literally, this would not even pass for a formal citation in a high school Powerpoint presentation.
The author, in this case, published it in a site where they used an alias, but they're still not "anonymous". Watermark or not, "I don't know" forcibly removes their name from the work when it had not been published that way in the first place. Think of it this way: an author publishes a book under their name. Not every page has their name on it. By tearing off a page and publishing it without referring back to the original book, you are effectively removing the label it did have.
Plagiarism, by definition (Merriam-Webster), can be "to use (another's production) without crediting the source". A source exists. A source existed. Chibi did not credit it. That's plagiarism.
So where's your evidence that the artist sent people to attack Chibi? Because they didn't ask anyone to do so.
Also, to reply to your point, "HA, doesn't matter whether it is it not!" (plagiarism): I am literally replying to a comment that says "those uneducated children have ZERO clue about copyright and plagiarism", so plagiarism is a pertinent argument. I'm saying the basis Chibi and the above argument are going from regarding plagiarism is wrong. You can check any source for confirmation.
And for someone who criticizes people who "probably still aren't even out of High school", you sure don't write like someone who is. That word you were looking for is "stupidest", not "stupidist", and that other word you were looking for is "ridiculous", not "rediculous". Cunts'? Whose? That's a plural possessive, when that was clearly not a suitable use for possessive. You don't capitalize "high school" unless it's a proper noun. Did you pass elementary?
You do realize that Chibi almost certainly didn't find this on any site that cited the artist itself. He probably found it through a google search and the link may have been imgur for all you fucking know. You can't call it plagiarism without proof he knew the artist or the origin of the gif.
Also it's a fucking tweet. Not a scientific paper or any other kind of educational work. Tweets are not subject to this bullshit lmao
I would take everything other guy ever made, post it, and caption them with "I don't know who made this".
musicf3b lmao the pettiness
musicf3b you know who made your profil pic?
great man
Ashj Ash
Talking about the other guy
Ashj Ash LMAOOO how stupid are you? HE WAS TALKING ABOUT THE OTHER GUY....GET SOME “common sense” dumbass LOL.
Chibi you are one of my favorite reviewers on UA-cam, because you are very real and honest about everything including this. Please don't let these people/situations get you, they can only make you an even better youtuber than you were before all this. And don't forget that you have many fans who support you, especially after you acknowledged that you were somewhat rude you apologized after, and there's nothing wrong with that, on the opposite it shows that you are a normal person capable of learning from his mistakes. And that's a great thing! Now you will know how to deal with these people in the future :)) have a great day! And this video is much appreciated!
I thought you looked a little bit out of it in your megalobox review recently. I was really concerned for you. Now I feel better knowing what you were going through. I hope that you are doing okay and feel better about talking of the matter out loud. Hope you can let it all blow over and you can live happier. Have a good rest of your day. Love you, chibit out ^-^!
I wouldn’t even say you were in the wrong here. This seems to just be a butthurt person who clearly got triggered over someone using something they thought was funny. You made it clear that you didn’t know who made it, therefore there was no way for you to give credit to them, but then you said *Credit to them*. All the person had to do was say, “Hey this is my Art”
Hell even after being attacked, you stated clearly that it was your mistake (when it technically wasn’t). You pointed out how immature the person was, but they kept attacking you in a seemingly condescending way.
I must say that I have to respect you for trying to minimize the yelling over Twitter, stating that the artist and yourself did something wrong, and then restated what happened for a reference for more people to learn from the experience. No reason to hate you for that honestly. Well have a good day/night Jacob.
What a toxic Artist. This person clearly just wanted to argue for arguing sake. If they wanted you to take it down, they should have stated that they were the artist and could you please take it down or give them the credit were credit is due. At which point you should be a bit sceptical and potentially look for it as well on the oddity that they might not have been.
Why is he calling a gif "art"?
I'm saying without knowing what the actual gif was (don't burn me pls! xP), but it could of course be a gif of an animation/performance by the artist's hand themselves. Again, not saying it is in this situation (haven't looked up the gif in question, nor will), but just saying gifs can definitely be art that belongs to someone depending on the content in said gifs. In the end a gif is just a format for animating something. For example If I made an anime (however unlikely that is lol) and you would make a gif clip of part of that anime, it would still be my art. :)
I think the major problems come from the frequency malicious companies try to use things like this to get clicks on their sites, shell their shirts with prints on it, etc. Things to make sneaky money of of the back of the original artists. And it happens to them so many times a lot of artist adopt a zero-tolerance policy about the reposting of their art at all regardless if money in that instance was made or not. It is because of the viral nature of the internet. Think of it like this: one work gets shared without credit, ends up in a company's hands via three more loops of sharing and it's almost impossible anymore to use it with credit. How many gifs are we using today on our phone keyboards without the original creators seeing a dime for it? That's why I'm all for some seriously strong waterbranding of art online.
To give some insight (just a what-if scenario): In this particular case for example, perhaps the gif ends up at a virtual keyboard company via a person who retweeted a person who retweeted a person who retweeted a person who retweeted Chibi? See how it becomes upscure really quickly and incredibly tempting to use something because we're unaware of the creation circumstances of the art in question?
captain sam it was completely hand drawn and animated.
NekoMina ohhhh.. thank u
People on the Internet just don't know how copyright and fair use works. Here are some of the reasons that prove you did nothing wrong and any argument they have would not hold in court:
1. You did not try to profit of off the art.
2. You did not try to make it appear as though you were the creator of the art.
3. You tried to give credit to the best of your abilities.
4. The art was available on the Internet (so your "Common Sense" argument is kind of validated, albeit rude).
5. The artist doesn't own the rights to the original work of which the art was based on.
6. You were working completely under fair use, although there are some differences from country to country.
Nothing you did was illegal, however threatening someone's livelihood is no laughing matter, so the one comment at the start of your video was way out of line. How is this connected to UA-cam in the first place? This happened on Twitter.
I remember this video when it was recent. I thought it was still somewhat recent but this was a little over a year ago, man how time flys.
Holly Grail Chibi, you repeat yourself quite alot.
Internet is so toxic. Didn't know gifs were that important.
Speaking of toxic, the comment section here is pretty toxic too. Small world aye.
Don’t let these twitter bullies get you dude. They’re starting drama for the sake of drama.
more like for the sake of attention
+ShadowNomad This guy wasn't a bully. He was simply an unnecessary fool.
Why do people even care about what anyone says about them on Twitter.
Clearly everyone showed their hate in Twitter on Logan Paul but in the end he just profited from the whole thing and moved on.
Literally the drama is a profit to the shepherd who makes the fools of their sheep 🐑
It's like arguing with ppl on Twitter. No matter what they say they are always right lol
Pffffft, ur not hatable chibi
Alvin Freeman hating chibi is like hating a cute puppy, im not exaggerating
Don't let it get to you Chibi! As a person that is known, you are bound to encounter people that hate on you, and there are those that do not reason with too much sense. But as long as you act the way you feel that is right, that's all there is to do about it.
Chibi you're a great guy man, don't worry about stuff like this and keep going!
Don't pay attention to them Chibi, you're basically impossible to hate
Chibi is trash
Wow, that's actually amazing.
When any piece of art (especially memes) s posted on the internet, reposts upon reposts will occur the original will be lost in a sea of copies of copies. A lot of them don't even bother with trying to credit the original; some even take credit for work they didn't do. Reposting is in no way equivalent to stealing it-that insinuation is bullshit.
My sympathies go out to you man, you did not deserve this. It's really unfortunate nowadays that whatever you do, no matter how mundane, it can somehow cause people to attack and defame you, if you're just a little bit unlucky.
trying to hate Chibi, trying to hate Chibi.... ERROR 404 HATING FAILED
Chibi, you are the most reasonable guy i have had the pleasure of subscribing too. Love ya man. Keep up the quality reviews and content!
This made me finally subscribe to your channel Chibi; you are so mature about things.
Chibi, you're one of the most polite people i've ever known
Artist is butt hurt, and just wants attention from arguing. Smh
He a real bitch
H2O Isaiah Rangel yup
No that would worsen the problem please don't
H2O Isaiah Rangel 100th like😜
Chibi, I’m sorry you’re getting this hate just for one little thing. If they’re so offended because they didn’t hear their name specifically when you credited them, they should put their name in the corner of the gif, watermark it. I don’t know how can someone hate you. We can never hate you! You have that nice cool vibe that can make everyone like you and laugh with you! Don’t worry about it, Chibi! Sending positive vibes!
At least, put their signature or insignia somewhere on the gif! That will made things easier.
Nazrul Nadziruddin Yeah, like the person who made it should add their name or other name they use! Because not everybody does that and therefore the others don’t know who you are and don’t credit you. But kudos to the people who still give credit like chibi here, even though he doesn’t know the name of the original GIF creator , yet that person is still mad about it.
Someone cannot say that they own something without even highlighting that they own it.
It's called documentation.
Nazrul Nadziruddin Facts
As a artist myself I understand views from both parties. Some artists can be really picky or sensitive with their artworks. Sometimes they can be overprotective over them as if they were their own children. If you do post a gif and do not know the artist maybe ask who the artist is and if there is a way to find them so you can credit it so if anyone wants to harass you again it wont go this big again. I am glad you admit your mistakes as well still respect the artist that blew the situation up. My respect for you is still here. :)
i think cause he put it as "credit to the artist" is what really triggered them and made thing sour when it shouldn't, could've put it as "if anyone know the artist please inform me" then this pointless argument wouldn't happen.
but i can see it the artist fault too not being straightforward it their work and yeah just give the 'source link' to Chibi and idk if twitter have option to edit tweets, so Chibi only option by then is leave a pin link to original and everything could've end there.
last, Chibi really shouldn't never say "however the main point doesn't change" quoting 6:18 in the first place, i think that where more hate comes from.
if it true, artists wouldn't even post on internet anymore and more unwanted negativity- // *sigh* // everything about this argument just so childish and can be resolved earlier. both party are in the wrong, right from beginning. just sharing my thoughts on this.
Usually when someone puts "Credit to the artist" I take that to imply they don't know who the artist is because they didn't find it from where the artist posted it, so if anyone knew the artist/artist wants credit just tell them who they are and they'll put like a link or edit it to credit them fully. So I would personally interpret "credit to the artist" as "if anyone knows the artist please tell me & I'll credit them". It's unfortunate that the artist in question didn't interpret that as I would because it could have helped make this situation go down easier. It also could have helped if the artist understood how to communicate like a professional, or an adult would have been sufficient to prevent this from breaking out into pure stupidity & mindless rage. Neither is blameless, but this could have been solved in an instant >_>.
Well I wouldn't say he respects the artist in the end, just that he shouldn't use the same tactic as him. Artists like him are why artists online have a bad name. He needs to grow up and stop being a dickweed, otherwise he will never truly be respected.
Chibi my guy remember this...everyone hates upward not downward. They know your above them in class, character and status. Don’t let them upset your flow brother keeps those wheels burning and I’ll keep supporting
honestly, nobody gives credit to alot of stuff, heck there's people posting whole anime clips (unedited) and they don't get copyrighted, to think some guy went this far for a 5-6 second gif....
ITS THEIR ART!
i know that, im saying that today everyone barley credits.. and also he didn't take the credit for himself as some people do, he simply didn't know who made it...
huh? But not their IP.
Me being me, I would have made a tweet that said "Don't start with your bullshit, don't waste my time, just give me the link to the artist so I can credit them properly" and would have been done with it.
And if the artist started saying something, I would have said "I have already credited you like I was supposed to, and will make sure to not use your art in the future without permission." That is all
Also the hypocrisy of the people lmao, they say you stole it and complain about that, yet they have the balls to say that they will flag you for shit they don't own... man i swear
ohh chibi you are just too nice!!! Just ignore those people. Keep up the awesome work!!! Love you content.
Cheers to you dude for at least trying to clear up the misunderstanding of this 👍🏾👍🏾
I still dont hate you
That guy sound like a random butthurt person on the internet than an "artist"
Found out its a female.
Makes me shamed to me one now.
♚ QUEEN OF OBSCURE PAIRINGS ♚ not surprised, next you're gonna say she's a tumblrite.
Junior Jaw yup
Okay, I can understand backlash for art or like a plagiarised excerpt from some book/article whatever, but a gif? Come on. That’s pretty much a meme. Unless the gif in question was an fan animation of Furuta by an animator, Chibi dont gotta apologise for nothing.
A meme would be more intuitive and serious.
We've known you long enough to know that your a very good person and we respect you and we will support you as long as you are here
I saw this drama on twitter so I wanted to give input as someone who follows hundreds of artists. The artist may not have handled the situation well but many artists have different attitudes on how they like their work to be used. Many artists don't care as long as they are credited with a name to find them by or link back to where they originally posted their art and there are other artists who do not like their work to be reposted at all so it's a courtesy to respect their wishes. Not crediting the artist is no different than not crediting the maker of a video if it is reposted. Both mediums require lots of time and effort to develop the talent required to produce quality content and still require time and effort for subsequent works. The least that can be done is to credit the artist.
For those who are unaware, searching for art sources is easy with saucenao and the "image search options" extension on chrome. It generally takes 5-10 seconds per picture so it does not require any serious effort to find the original source.
"Not crediting the artist is the same as not crediting a video maker"
No it isn't? As an artist myself, a piece of artwork doesn't have a solid price tag. If you make shit(like the gif Chibi used) it isn't suddenly, by the great powers of fan art gods on DA/Tumblr, as important as an original video. That's like saying if I used a funny 2 second gif it's the same as uploading the entirety of Star Wars. You're delusional. You're overestimating your efforts. Stop. Not everything you make is important. It's embarrassing.
Yeah there are a lot of artists no matter how nice they are they’re actually emotionally malicious even on simple debates even white knights for Artist they go berserk.
They could’ve just cited the person for you, and yeah you made a mistake but that doesn’t excuse their irrational “reeeeeeeeee” behavior for witch hunting just like the rest of Twitter.
This could’ve been solved by just saying “credit me”
This is bad on both sides tbh
Aizeula Aleuzia eh, nothing Chibi did was wrong. The only one in the wrong here is the artist
Aizeula Aleuzia its not bad on both sides smh one side just crying like a baby
nelson Chavez I felt like Chibi could’ve put “please link me to the artist for credit” or something around that lines in the original would’ve helped with the problem in earlier stages
kenway leviathian frustrated not crying so like bro 😂. Don’t get your underwear in bunch okay lol
Some artists need to chill with their whole "credit" issue. In the grand scheme of things, it's should only be annoying if someone tries to claim a piece of art as their own or tries to profit of it like those that show viral videos in the hopes of getting tens of thousands of retweets. And it's clear to anyone with a functioning brain that what happened in this instance was neither of those cases.
I mean if you take the mob's logic, then every single person posting casually lewd pics and random gifs they've saved or found are literally the devil then, because realistically a majority of us don't credit someone when we send good art to each other, no one says _"who made this funny reaction gif"_
This is really a case of an artist who's ego is a bit to big for their own good and needs to humble themselves a bit more. Many people are fine with giving credit when being asked properly but artists should realise they won't automatically be getting credit when things they create are being used in such a casual way.
And to really make things even worse, chibi literally said he didn't know who the artist was. Surely if you've got at least two brain cells all you have to do is tag the artist because *you can clearly see the person sharing the art doesn't know who it is*
Jesus Christ man, some people though.
Its like people dont know what watermark is...
This comment is the best comment.
But chibi DID MAKE A PROFIT. He had thumbnails on his videos of other people's artwork and MONETIZED those videos.
Could you link some of these videos please? I would very much like to see the thumbnails in question. Also, this is about the gif that was uploaded on Twitter and the following drama, not something that has been done in the past. @Mister Buttcheecks.
Jedmonds 9173 I'll do you one even better, look at his Tokyo ghoul reviews, he got in trouble in the past for the same shit and now he puts his face on each chapter review.
Now look at all those chapter reviews of Tokyo ghoul that has characters in color and was not made by the author.
I usually love drama like this but chibi you dont deserve this :(
I personally dont think you did anything wrong with your initial tweet...
Still love you and your content!
I don't understand how people can hate a kind guy like you! I support you to the end!!
i... actually agree with the common sense thing, as. someone who wants to publish an online comic one day i know its gonna be a crap storm, but i hope i dont let my frustration get the better of me when that time comes, thanks for sharing this i learned a lot
