  • When Mireille Twayigira was two, she fled Rwanda with her family after her father was killed in the country’s genocide. At the age of eight, she entered a Jesuit Refugee Service school in Malawi. After she graduated from secondary school as one of the best students in the country, she traveled to China, where she learned Chinese and, in 2016, graduated as a doctor.
Jesuitical talks to Mireille about the role of education in her life, how her faith has kept her strong and what it means to be a symbol of hope in your 20s.

Oh My God what a small world. It true that life is full of surprise. We use to be neighbors in Dzaleka refugee camp. Lol she was a smart and quiet girl at that time I was in primary and she was in high school and when she got the scholarship to do her studies in China the whole camp was amazed. She even became my role model since she was my neighbor. I remember taking a spare cup to get porridge for morning tea. Big up Mirelle am happy you made it.

Am sure for her being raised in camps and and if I got her well they left Rwanda in 1994 during the genocide, so she might be having parents who were on the unhunted side whom also at the same time would tell such tragedy as conflicts instead of the reality of what happened in Rwanda.

Steve Claver When you're pointing finger remember four fingers are facing at you and only one is being pointed to others. The sad thing you might not be among the Tutsi genocide survivors😭( the ones who survived we don't spread hate we spread love) better change your mind. Appreciate other people's achievement🕊❤️
