@@umarabdullahi1240 that is what you would use if you were in the u.s. look for data from a difference source in Nigeria. You may have to go to international source, for I doubt the Nigerian government reports truthfully about the economic status of its citizens.

Dr. Townsend, regarding finding out more on data related to one's district, where would I be able to find the information you're referring to in order to better understand the constituents in my area?

    Hello sir!
I’m very passionate about politics and desperately want to start the journey into becoming a public servant (Unfortunately I will have to wait as I’m only 17).
I’d just like to ask if there’s any way to intern for a representative and how minors can get involved in politics. (Granted, there may not be a way)
    Thank you!

@@tommythetemplar there is a way. Apply for an internship. People do it all the time. Serve in a district office. If you are lucky you’ll get one in Washington. You are more likely to be on their radar if you first volunteer to work in their political campaign.

@@tommythetemplar you will be an adult in the eyes of the law sometime in the next 12 months. Old enough to carry a gun on the field of battle. Old enough to vote. In the meantime, learn all you can about someone you'd like to intern for. Jay

Dr. Townsend, how can young political candidates minimize possible criticism and maximize their strengths as a young candidate?

Once we think the proverbial glass is half empty, it’s hard to remember that it’s also half full…. our brains are hard-wired to seek out and remember negative information. It’s important to know when you begin that people respond to it, but you can train your brain not to. Put your armor on top of your thick skin and remember it’s not personal. It might feel like it, but it’s not. Short witty responses work. They sting. But don’t ever go on defense. Campaign on the offense. Make your opponent do the work and never be held hostage by negativity. Just focus on your why. If it’s big enough, you’ll be okay. Jay was my mentor and if you want to run, hire him to run with you. He’ll turn your top layer into dolphin skin. Good luck.

fear not criticism. it’s part of the price one pays for power. if the cause is right defend it with all your might and fire back at the critics for refusing to embrace it.

@@chaosgilleon6433 the power to stop people who abuse power is a form of power. A certain amount of power comes with every elected position.

The people who want power, usually shouldn't have it. People who don't want power, hopefully understand they serve the community not the other way around. 🫡 Be the community's advocate. Create harmony, and improve where possible without uprooting too many people who are humble and doing what they're supposed to.

@ the irony is that those who want power to do good, or to stop others from abusing it, still must seek it. We are past the time when people won elections by sitting on their front porch.
