@@igorborracini5722 And I'm surprised the capcitor size. you get like 50+ shots with the S4. I was worried going from S3 to Size 4 that the capacitor would only allow for a few shots, but they must have upsized the capacitor too. It feels so much better squeezing the trigger now!
@@jgun-tv Capacitor size only really depends on the gun this patch (unless you have 8+ guns like f8c), the S3 was cannon which is hard capped at 15, while the S4 is a repeater which can go to 75
It just pales in comparison to the avenger titan. It either needs a S5 weapon or some other distinct strength. I could see it being a long-range ship if that ever is a thing that we can seriously benefit from. If it does not get anything to balance out its size and below-average firepower, then it's a really sad piece of ship. Crusader ships are still my favourite, though.
They gave it Size 3 gun on purpose to change later because of feedback to make the backers feel better, LOL. That's why size 4 gun looks as if it was designed there from the start XD
@CitizenScott ever put a size 5 on a vanguard over a size 4. You get a tiny amount of bullets and they have slower projectile speed, with that ship size 4 is the better option. Would look bad ass though.
@@CMDR-Ashtar Depends on the weapon, but generally yeah, bigger gun, fewer shots, more damage. Point is that 1xS5 would give the Intrepid a very interesting use case, where 1xS4 makes practically zero difference over 1xS3 as it still leaves it anemic.
Frankly, size 4 is just 50% more powerfull than size 3. So this is still far less fiepower than other starters that have two size 3 or more. A size 5 would have been better. And only two missile is very cheap in particular when you see there is largely the room for more.
you have to compare to the numbers of other starters, the dps needs to be closer to 4xs1 on most aurora or 2xs2+2xs1 on LN and mustangs, It also has more SCU compared to those starters. now if it comes out with a 60$ price tag im 100% with you on a s5.
If its a 45 -55 dollar starter package size 4 is fine but still unremarkable. If its what I suspect being 65 to 75 dollars. It needs the size 5 or least some smaller gun placements be better well rounded to recommend to new players generally
For 45-55 Dollars it would not be unremarkable. It would have the biggest Cargo Capacity and best maneuverability in that bracket (100i, cutter, aurora MR)
I liked it before, but this is a good move for CIG. Thank you for the video and information. Will for sure try a Lightstrike cannon in place of the repeater. Stopped using them when they fixed the cannons.
Nice redo on the review. It surprised me that CIG thought one size 3 gun would be acceptable. Not sure where their heads are at. Good news is they are listening?
to me, the issues with this ship arent even in the gun that everyone is focused on. It seems like a GREAT SHIP.. but its purpose to me is about entry level engineering game play. Like theres a BIG ASS engine room. So its a 2 person ship but only 1 bed. Lots of storage for 1 person. I guess you buy it for solo play and then maybe bring an friend to play engineer if they are up for it?
I simply don't think engineering is going to be a big enough issue on the ship to warrant a second person. It's a small ship, after five hours of flight time ya you might want to top off the component health with your multitool and change out your fuses. In a ship the size of the Intrepid, that might take what? Five minutes? For trying to keep repairs going in combat, I wouldn't worry about it. Small ships like this are not going to last long enough in a real fight for it to matter.
Pretty sure they want engineering panels in every ship that can fit one. Likely so that we have an easy way to check component health, see anything missing a fuse, or simply do maintenance on our ship when we’re landed or have time to spare. It’s not a station for a second person so much as it’s a utility for the pilot to use.
I noticed this ship does not have bubble shields, it has 4 faces independent of each other. not sure if the ship or the sheild gen changes that. other ships I have fought are bubbles.
'Slightly faster kills' isn't so much the main draw; it's that when armor is actually implemented; this gun will shred things to pieces and blow through to components that much better; which will make this ship stand far out from the others; it can effectively hit above it's 'weight class' with the S4 gun. A S5 would have been better(of course it would be limited by powerplant, or if swappable to ballistics, ammo.), as 3x S3 is still stronger than a single S4; but again, armor pen and blowing through to components will be much more important going forward. You can't make a mini-Ares and then just give it a single S3, when the Nomad has 3x S3 guns and more missiles. It was a joke; and I hope with armor implementation it sets itself apart; it seems like a very capable interceptor and having a single S4 gun that rips/tears will make it rather nice for those looking for that style of combat.
Pretty much, but at least now its on par with the Cutter, with a s3 it has even less firepower. Now it's a Cutter that sacrifices carrying a ground vehicle for extra cargo, fuel, speed, maneuverability, and living area.
The ship and asymmetrical design looked and felt it like was build for a s4 or s5 gun. Old build was pathetic and stupid. New build is just functional and competent, but nowhere near overpowered. Its just good enough to make the ship OK, but not great.
It actually looks so much better now, the gun better balances out the cockpit and the extra firepower is much appreciated!

Exactly! I would be a tough sell before, but I think now people can feel more comfortable owning it.

Yeah, gonna be a tough sell if they price it over $50.
As I stated in other videos, I intended to get the ship anyway since I rarely fire my ships weapons. But I will admit it looks better than before.
Here's to hoping they make the cargo area an additional row higher. Doubt it.
I know right!! How amazing would that be. And I"d be ok paying $85+ for a starter if they did that.
I doubt it too
i would blow a load if they made a starter like the intrepd with 16 scu....
Yup. Said it as soon as I saw it. 1xS5 and 16SCU would make this a legit Nomad alternative. CIG are out of touch with what the players want.
1xS4 is also not enough.
Yeah, but it's more appealing than an S3 mount.
Still needs the option for either S2 x2 under the wings or a single S5 (which is still weaker than the Titan/300/nomad, if my math is correct)
That would be nice.
TheSize 3 gun was probably there in the interest of cockpit visibility.
