First time I came across a knickerbocker was actually in Tintin. So whenever I see that style now, I automatically link it to those comics.
Same!
I enjoy the look of knickerbockers! It’s the best way to show off my best socks.
Or you could use breeches
Ikr! Been trying to wear em but with my family being ardent followers of contemporary fashion it's hard to muster hp the confidence
Thank you for your dramatic intro...
As someone who has a deep and abiding interest in the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, I say "Bring back breeches!".
Knickerbockers definitely have a similar aesthetic to breeches, though. Definitely something that more people should wear. 👍😁
Love the outfit with the Chuck Taylors
These pants look like they'd be good for hiking, trekking, trail blazing and the sort.
they are!
There's a pop about classic style nowadays, but some people just dress up themselves by something they think it's vintage and classic which is not base on real outfits that appear in history. Thus, this word is overused nowadays in my opinion. However, after I discovered your new channel , I found that you really realised the looks from history, and I really love your real classic style .Please keep going 👏👏.
Besides, I'm wondering a video about waistcoats and can you please introduce the special waistcoats in the opening. Although it's unique, it really looks nice 👍
I'm planning on making myself a knickerbockers specifically to ride my chopper style bicycle. : D
Awesome channel. Keep going. I love your style and I m realy looking forward to videos in the future.
I love that style of pants! They are very comfortable. I'm going to be making a 1920's women's version here soon.
Very nice, thank you for making such delightful videos 😊
Finally! A vid focusing WHOLLY on knickerbockers! Glad to know I'm not the only one in the world who has a niche fascination & love for them!
Really hard to muster up the confidence to wear plus fours especially here in the Southeast Asia but your video has given me more encouragement!
Dankeschoen & Happy New Year!
Win wirklich tolles und hilfreiches Video :)
Great information thanks!
In Dutch they called them ' drollenvangers'. My father wore them in Amsterdam and my oldest brother in the fiftees in Breukelen.
Interesting and informative, especially to those interested in history and antiques, like me.
Very interesting, I learnt a lot from you today. Thank you..
I would like to know about straight twenty trousers as well?
this is the best
Really like the outfit at the end. Except the shoes actually.. :) the jacket is great!
Will you ever do a video about Jodhspurs and how women wore them in the 1920s as well?
Could you do a video or give some information about the neckerchief that you were wearing at the end? I have a huge interest in classic neckerchiefs but don't really know where to find out more.
Thank you for the historical lesson. If the bike at the end would have been a Pashley Guvnor you could think you made a time travel.
Very good video on the subject. where can we buy your suspenders as well as your shirt please because they are really great please
got to say it, you are adorable. I like your humor, I like your style, your on point no nonsens delivery of informations and what you wanted to say about it.
Thanks for shareing, I will come back for sure.
nice video
My father only wore what he called "Knickers" until 1940 until he turned 13, and got his first pair of long pants. He told me he was thrilled to have regular pants. His uncle's all wore knickers and caps all through the 20s. I have many photos, and the shoes and socks were really great. The history is interesting!
Knickers are lady’s panties…
These knickers are my #goal as the entire outfit. I've been searching for them at an affordable price for I'm definetly not able to sew even a button. Any suggestion?
Hickory Golf. Never knew about that.
Can you make a video about how to achieve the look
Great as always. Off topic, do you have a place online to get 20's style suits?
You can also check the mentioned SJC for that. I am also working on the translation of my whole blog, including a lot of sources to buy stuff, but that will still take some time.
Not sure whether it's particularly "20s", but Simon James Cathcart and Darcy Clothing offer pre 1950s-inspired menswear
Thanks!
Love your intro, might i ask the composers name?
I would love to know the types of music you use for your videos
Great video! Just one thing if I may, Landsknecht fashion is from the beginning of the 16th century, not the end of the 15th.
Breeks, the version that fits properly? Chuck Taylor's: The fast track to metarsalgia since 1917!
Can you make a video on where to find 20s era english suits aka peaky blinders suits is what i really mean
I have a feeling his simple answer will be get one custom tailored, but if not there may be online sellers or you could get a vintage one altered - after all it's more an element of waistline alteration and repositioning when compared to the shoulder and trouser width based evolution of later decades.
Go Knicks!
Quick Question?Do you know where I can get some spats
Look for militaria on eBay or sew them yourself.
Resewn a pair of wool trousers that became way too short into knickerbocker/plus 2. Part of me feels in the early 1900s and another part of me feels in the early 1700's depending if I wear a tweed jacket or a linen shirt.
Do you have a platzreife?
🌟
Hi Niklas! Quick question, the shirt you are wearing here, is it from darcyclothing? I'm thinking of ordering their seperate collars with a shirt.
It's from Sebastian Hoofs. The pattern will be released in our upcoming sewing book, if you're interested in making such a shirt yourself - or maybe you know a hobby tailor that might do it for you.
@@Vintagebursche Thanks! My girlfriend is quite handy with a sewing machine so I'll look into it!
Love those knickers especially in 20s men were not over weight.
Thank you dear.
Ich würde mich über ein Video bezüglich deiner Möbel freuen.
I used to wonder why one would wear knickerbockers, until this spring, where I realized that wanting to walk through any natural terrain results in your pants covered in mud if you are not careful; so I got to where knickers or atleast high waters, I am not wearing shorts, they just look bad.
Danke für die Informationen. Ich war mir immer sicher der Begriff Knickerbocker ist ein deutsches Wort, das irgendwas mit Knie zu tun hat :-D upss
Wurden auch Überfallhosen genannt.
I don't have any proof of this, but maybe the popularity of puttees in WWI military uniforms played a role in making knickerbockers popular in the inter-war years? Obviously puttees over trousers is quite different in construction to knickerbockers and calf socks, but the look, and the feel, of an outfit which is tight around the calves but loose at the knees and thighs is somewhat similar.
Knickerbockers , for young women, anyways, made a brief return in the 80s. My girlfriend in 8th grade had a pair.
Dein Fahrrad muss mal mehr Vintagisiert werden. Mindestens ein Ledersattel und den Plaste-Kettenschutz durch einen Metallnen tauschen. 😁
Wo bekommt man heute noch Knickerbocker her?
Vielen Dank!
You should try Walker Slater.
I got mine from them, they are great !
I am from Breukelen /BRKLN. 28 km south of Amsterdam. Knickerbockers look better than pantaloons. 🇱🇺🇱🇺🇱🇺
Can’t believe the New York kinks was named after pants 😐
Wish the look would come back in style..
