    I do think if the health bar ISNT accurate anymore, that it would be a legitimate dealbreaker; it would have a negative impact on several skills, general gameplay, every single healing item in the game, most abnormal status conditions including but not limited to: Poison, Fireblight, and blastblight. Also if HP bar does get changed in this negative fashion, it’s likely the stamina bar will also change to accommodate this which is also extremely bad.
    I hope so badly that the HP bar does NOT get changed.

      I actually think it would be cool to not have health bars just like the monsters. No one in the history of battle and combat has ever been able to tell that they are exactly at 100% hp, 50% or critical hp. It can be cool to have a health system where you can see physical damage and behaviour changes on your character just like on the monster.
      Instead of a bar telling you you're at critical HP, an armour skill like heroics or adrenaline changes your behaviour and has visual indicators to show you've reach an amount of HP to activate those skills.
      We already can tell how much damage we're going to take from how powerful a monster attack looks and how far we're knocked back, and in endgame we already shrug off light attacks with healing augments and skills and chug potions when we take a big attack anyway. Having no health bar doesn't even bother me, but I've already played the game for almost 2 decades

    9:45 Neither. Let us craft both.
    The RNG treadmill for deco and charms are either too grindy (World Decos) or easily spammable (Rise Talismans).
    Keep the deco crafting system from Rise.
    Change the talismans system to be craftable with the main skill being preset and anything extra being random. I don’t mean like in Rise where if you pick a skill it has a chance to have that skill. Im talking about if you pick that skill it will have that skill 100% percent of the time but if you want extra skills or slots then that is where the RNG comes in. That way you can get the skill you really need but if you want a min-max talisman with that skill then it’s optional to keep rolling that talisman till you get what you are looking for. This can help eliminate getting a bunch of talismans that you either dont need or will never use.
    I also don’t want it to be like Rise where each monster part is worth a certain amount of points but only the points matter and not the actual monster part. Have it to where if you want a talisman with a boost to thunder damage you need parts from a thunder monster, defense boost - bulky monsters, blight resistance - elemental monsters, etc. It would give you more incentive to fight a wider variety of monsters instead of the monster that gives the most points like we had with Narwa in base Rise.

    • @Madman6884
      @Madman6884 2 місяці тому +2

      Yeah I always thought some inbetween would be more ideal, and there would be a way to do either of them. You dont want to totally kill the endgame grind but it needs to be more reasonable an ask than either game fully did.
      Just to spitball a couple more ideas:
      If we went back to the World system then there needs to be a way to meld even the rarest decos by dumping excess ones to build up points + some rare monster part(s) that represents the skill you're crafting, to insure you are rewarded for the time put in without it just being pure RNG.
      Or if we went the Rise route maybe talismans, when you first get them, are always blank in terms of skills. All they have is deco slots and the number of points for each skill, then you craft and fuse extra decorations into it to change those blank skill points into actual ones. Got a +3 blank skill you want to be Attack? Gotta get the parts and craft 3 spare Attack +1 decos to fuse into and convert it. That way the RNG to get a 'perfect' talisman is a way waaaaay smaller pool, but you still gotta commit rare resources and the time needed to get those in order to make use of it.
      Probably not perfect solutions, but its an idea.

    • @jockpackage1770
      @jockpackage1770 2 місяці тому +1

      If it's RNG ish like that, it would be nice if each talisman had a base list of materials for it's main skill taht is a guarantee and a few slots where you put in whatever you want and the mats will skew the result to skills related to that monster. This would allow you to narrow the pool to skills from a monster or 2.

      @caiusdrakegaming8087 2 місяці тому +2

      I have to agree with you here. If the only way to keep players coming back to the game is to make getting the sets perfect the way they want tedious, then that's not really a good system. Games like MH need an endgame loop that is actually fun to do, otherwise players will just get annoyed and stop bothering. Crafting both, but giving talismans a slight RNG aspect to them, is probably the best way Capcom can do. Yes the grind won't be AS big as before, but it makes it easier for a casual player(such as myself) to actually make multiple perfect sets instead of jut focusing on one for the whole game(or at least for the rest of the game once the pieces are accessible).

    EDIT: Personally, I think you can manage having both craftable decos and charms. The craftable ones being like their Rise and World incarnations respectively, while the RNG could come from getting double skill decos like the ones from Iceborne and talismans with deco slots and points into two different skills like how they were in Rise/Sunbreak.

    • @h4tch3tt74

      screw random decos all together. Random decos have a limit to how long you need to farm. Talismans due to the variability in possible skill combinations dont appear to have a cap if you play multiple weapons. Craftable basic talismans would be fine to get you started while farming the random skills/deco slots on the melded ones

  • @VaderCookie
    @VaderCookie 2 місяці тому +13

    Decos vs. Talismans
    There will be a rng grind in any case. The balance of the grind is important here. You only have one talisman slot while you can have many decos.
    I would 100% prefer getting little steps of progress every now and then with rng decos.
    With rng talismans, you either get a good one or you don't. There is less feeling of progress which in turn makes the grind feel more tedious.
    edit: Maybe I should post it here as well. I'm not saying just take the World system as it is. Improvements can be made everywhere, like not locking important weapon specific decos behind hard RNG. They have to find a good balance for that.

    • @joereed8872
      @joereed8872 2 місяці тому +3

      I respect your take. The reason I think differently is I play Lance, which requires very specific skills for some playstyles to function. Talisman grind allows me to access all the playstyles while grinding. where deco grind requires me to play at below power while grinding.

    • @VaderCookie
      @VaderCookie 2 місяці тому +3

      @@joereed8872 Yea, that's why I think the balance is important and definetly something that can be improved from World. Important weapon specific decos shouldn't be locked behind hard rng. Once you have those, you can mix and match the rest. Even a higer rng for something like guard+2 wouldn't be that bad if guard+1 is easily obtainable.
      I'm just a bit worried about the feeling of long term progression here. If you would be able to just craft everything, the talisman grind as endgame just doesn't feel that rewarding anymore.

      @@joereed8872 Really valid criticism. Missing mighty bow for so long was painful.
      The world:iceborne community edition had a really great solution for this. The core, 1 point skill tax decorations were all provided as rewards for certain story/assigned quests throughout high rank.
      Shield, mighty bow, magazine, flight and a bunch more that directly affect movesets were just granted to the player.
      Alternatively, just have them easily accessible from early game at the melder (or equivalent).

    • @jockpackage1770
      @jockpackage1770 2 місяці тому +2

      but a talisman can still be an upgrade if it's the same thing but 1 skill is swapped for an equivalent slot or sized skill. That or you get minor upgrades. With decos it's either you have this skill from the deco or you have to waste your entire charm or 3 to 4 pieces of your armor just to get it at all with some skills. Not having that 1 decoration cripples your set so i'd rather be missing 1 attack or whatever on my talisman over being locked out of a skill entirely or having to sacrifice like 5 2 or 3 slots for 1 2 or 3 slot just because i was unlucky.

    So on the note of craft vs rng deco charm. White, green, blue items for rng rolling. Purple and red items for crafting. So theres always a chance to get any of them post quest and you can craft both charms and decos if you've got sufficient reds/purples and you could rng roll with reds/purples and you would get a greater number of charms or decos. RNG decos give two-skill decos in Master Rank. They could also be another method to get some craftable decos, perhaps even some early, or even contributing to an armor's set bonus. (not stacking if on the armor with a matching set bonus, and some bonuses won't stack)
    RNG charms can have deco slots and multiple mutli-rank skills, while crafted charms are guarantees of a certain skill or two, and could reach higher levels especially in Master Rank.

Pretty similar to what NGS (from Phantasy Star Online 2) has right now - they can have a lot of players in town, but only 32 players on the field.
    I sincerely hope they'll bring back 16-man player limit per session. That 4-man per session in Rise/Sunbreak was a huge letdown for me. Not being able to seamlessly join someone else's quest afterwards and asking for their session ID gets old really fast.

    In terms of rng decos or talismans, I don't want either.
    I want the deco system from rise and the talisman system from world. That being said, I want them to steal a little from wild hearts here as well. Have special talismans or decos that can't be crafted, that a monster could have a chance to drop. Something like say velkhana could drop a frostcraft deco. That way there is still a grind for endgame talismans and decos but it's not something that hinders players from putting together builds. It just expands the endgame build variety and opens up more options.

      Yeah same. I have enough RNG from monster hunting, I don't want even *_MORE_* RNG from what gets made in town (however that manifests in Wilds)

    • @Hydraclone
      @Hydraclone 2 місяці тому +1

      Same. Just make it so there's a journey for making the deco and talisman you want, and make it difficult.
      You can have decos be a multi-step process and have talismans take increased resources for every extra skill point and bonus stat.
      There are ways to make a non-rng system still have a chase.

      @@TheSilversepiroth To be fair, I think the monster part rng is pretty generous. At least you can focus certain parts to increase your chances.
      The game needs to have at least some kind of grind/gear treadmill to keep a good ammount of people interested. Sure, you need more materials if you can craft everything, but you can focus on said materials and that won't keep you busy for too long. It needs to be a good balance.

    If they're going to do something like this, it needs to be optional.
    The current health bar system works great and there are many aspects beyond, "Can I take another hit," to the health bar.
    Skills that trigger at a certain health percentage, for example.
    If they are trying to go for a more immersive experience where you dont have huge bars in the top left, I'd honestly prefer they just remove the health bar entirely rather than have the heartbeat.

    I don’t mind charms being a RNG grind but I think there should be some type of loot protection. An infinite hell grind is just that… hell. So maybe you can’t get a duplicate until you get one of every permutation of that loot table. That way you’re guaranteed to get the charm you’re looking for eventually. People who get lucky and get their god charm get to stay lucky while the unlucky will still get what they want at some point.

  • @johnsober

    My main gripe with having one system be rng-dependant is that for the past two games, we had to wait for the final update of the master rank expansion to get the least grueling version of that system. I did way more deco/talisman grinding in iceborne and sunbreak after the final update than the _total_ time grinding of all the previous updates. Of course for someone who doesn't want to put in hundreds of hours (and reasonably so), this won't be their main gripe.
    But it's why I rather neither be rng, and instead it be a grindy incremental upgrade system with guaranteed gains. This adds value to the core gameplay loop, it would mean that even before the final update, we could still reasonably get the best decos or charms (it'll just be more grindy than whatever upgrade to the system the final update would bring), players who wish to spend less time than more could focus on one core talisman or deco instead of using a shotgun and pray method with a high chance of getting very little by the time they want to quit the game, and players who have hundreds or over a thousand hours won't be missing what they want most.

    See? This is what happens when they don't release the gameplay footage. Someone watches the gameplay behind closed doors, has some weird interpretation of what they saw, and all of the sudden we're talking about Resident Evil health bars! lmao The traditional health bar is not going anywhere. As many have pointed out, it wouldn't work both on a visual/art direction as well as a gameplay/mechanics level. I don't know why Capcom decided to take this "BTS hands-offs" approach to market the gameplay, but it's just silly in my opinion. At least we'll have actual gameplay to look at come August, so there's that!

    Regarding "bits on sticks," I think part of the reason MHWorld's progression of weapon designs seem a little underwhelming is due to their presentation in the forge menu. In previous games, you could pan, rotate and zoom the preview image in the forge. It really made them look better. I always found the forge menu in World really complicated, even as a "veteran" hunter. Always felt like there was too much flowchart shown and less focus on how awesome each "bit on a stick" could be.

Each weapon is 100% unique but the customization system lets you add anything you want to it(within reason) like making the metal into Damascus or Wootz, Titanium or Kamura Steel

    This might be a hot take but hear me out. Why not farm for augments. So in the endgame we grind for materials to Aug our weapons for attack, shell leveling, etc. But what if instead of getting the materials, we get augments that have benefits to the weapon and we can plug n play from there. I see the benefits of crafting both talismans and decorations. I personally favor decoration crafting but I think a new RNG would be cool and I think farming for weapon and armor augments would be a cool idea.

    If we get worlds boring weapon designs allow us to design and build our own from a selection if parts.
    Lastly, RE health system wouldn't be terrible. At a glance you could know when you need to heal and like RE the instant deaths would need to be cinematic or otherwise leave you with low health (danger state).If it didn't the hunter would feel frail and no one would want to risk fighting up close.

    It was very disheartening to look up some cool build in Rise and the only way to get it being to RNG roll talismans/decorations in the hundreds. Give me something to work toward, even if it takes a long time. Even if that one monster or quest needs a long struggle to reach, that feels MUCH better than "idk sit at the melder for hours and play slots".

    RNG talismans vs RNG decorations...
    Let's just put it this way: You'd be extremely unlucky to not have all Iceborne decorations within 5000hrs.
    Alternatively, you'd be the luckiest entity in the universe if you got even half of the max efficiency talismans in sunbreak within the same time frame.
    I'd like to be able to craft both. Just make the final upgrade level of talismans REALLY expensive. As in 3 plates, 2 gems and a mantle from the associated monster as well as rare parts from others and a bucket of end-game materials (such as great spiritvein gems).
    On top of that, you could have repeatable, challenging "awakening quests" that provide one unique ticket each time. These would allow you to add a specific secondary skill to a maxed out Talisman.
    For instance, beating the "arch tempered Nergigante" awakening quest provides a ticket that let's you graft on a few points of agitator to a max level talisman of your choice (amount of agi varies depending on the talisman).
    Make one of these "awakening quests" per possible secondary skill and you're golden.
    AT Kushala - handicraft
    AT Rajang - max might
    AT Sand Barioth - evade extender etc...

    lmao yep, just a bird, nothing strange to see here. Man, i would be nice to see larinoth again. Baby monsters is already covered, that's what Stories is for.
    The health bar thing does worry me a little, them taking that heart monitor that monsters got in Iceborne, that told you how close to death they were, wasn't the easiest to read mid hunt. Them altering your health to something like that is... a bit worrying. They said that we can revert the cats to meowing and revert some other stuff so hopefully there's a setting for normal health too.
    My hope for multiplayer is still that it's just you all go in the quest together then each do your solo segment, on your won time, and it's just "hey we're all here. Oh wait, Jerry's still on solo part so either we wait for him or hit the monster a bit till he catches up."
    My hope for focus mode was more of a it can help you but is can also have unique uses for some weapons so all players could make use of it. Like let the hunters aim some attacks at angles they can't normally hit higher CB axe double swing, higher LS spriti round slash, lower lance high thrust. minor alterations for situations where some attacks that you want to use are less than ideal.
    Yes, hopefully Gemma will give us all the silly weapons, all the heads on stick, all the stuff that mostly use the monster parts rather than just the same couple models with monster bits on them. It's never 14 per monster, there are always some that lack a few weapons types and that's fine. As long as every weapon has a lot of options, i'll be happy.
    They did say that the entire armor and skill system is getting a rework, in one of the interviews. I forget which language is was in but they did say that the system is getting an overhaul and they said it's not finished yet. I prefer RNG charms myself but, again, the entire skill system is getting a rework so we'll have to see. Buddy, you didn't feel the pain because you didn't main lance, GL, CB, or bow i guess... i got mighty bow the most out of those myself because i'm unlucky and I use all the others. Those had skills that you kind of needed where it was either 3 or 4 pieces of a set or that 1 impossible to roll, sometimes harder than an attack jewel, decoration you needed. Having 1 less attack or whatever from your talisman is nothing compared to missing a skill you can never use unless you use your entire charm slot or 3 to 4 armor pieces. Not sure about relic weapons, those had too many variables.
    More set piece hunts that are fun like sand whales i guess or the giant snake/ No weapon pinatas, i want to have a grind and progression to specific gear not hunting something 3000 more times after it's not fun anymore because i can never roll that final kjarr weapon.

    If they go with the "slap on" design but it actually ends up becoming the true design of the weapon (let's say, bone weapon into slap on with rathalos parts, into actual rathalos weapon design)
    I would be actually happy.
    They simply have to avoid the world problem where lots of weapon trees were stuck at the "slap on design".
    About decos and charms i don't really mind too much as long as the Rng doesn't feel impossible.
    I never found a perfect guard jewel in world, i literally had to wait the iceborne update to craft it, and i had to fight base world arch tempered lunastra and teostra UNABLE to block their fire breaths.
    This is not good.
    Ps:
    Nah i don't think they will remove the hp bar.
    The english community managers made clear that they want to make happy every kind of hunter, just like the palico voice being an option, i don't think this is gonna be forced on us.
    The more interested player might wanna try this out, to make it more immersive, but other players might prefer to see their hp.

Baby monsters would be cool as pets or just scenery creatures. 3:29 Common sense says that the beeping only happens when you get to specific limits of health so you know how close you are without looking. 5:50 This one idk how accurate i am, but i assume it will be D4ish meaning you run into people in certain parts like any other open world. & can join or not join with raid type bosses. I hope not. Although it might be more like Rise. 6:46 The upgrade tot he Pukei Pukei hat.. 9:09 I like set bonuses better as well since NOW has them i assume MHW will too. But yeah they should all be Individualized Which is easy if they make the same core with states & then just change mesh/skin. But i assume they usualy have reasons why they do things. On Decorations i didn't really focus on them much i ended up just leaving them alone once i got a decent one. 13:22 They might, its likely given the way the graphics are set up & the stuff showed. But While it is cool, Story wise it doesn't really add up to have tons of siege monsters only 1/2 every couple games (unless you do a travel back in time memory) Because monsters that old & colossal still around are few & far in between. Worlds could do it because it was a New World.

Send it into the smoking trashcan for reroll." talismans I literally had to code a spreadsheet around "is this combination of skills and slots better or worse?" Made even worse by the UI around talismans in Rise. In GU the sorting system made it easier to see "oh this talisman is lacking in the skill Im sorting but is actually the best I have in it's secondary skill. I need to keep it." In Rise it was sift through 30 pages of shit to figure out what talisment had the most points in the skill you are "sorting" for. Write that down and do it again with the secondary skill so you know you are not throwing away something potentially important. The favorite system band aid, actually made this worse.

    Im in the camp that we need to meld decorations instead of crafting em in the smithy.

    Base World had the augment items that felt more like the end game grind than the decorations did. I think they should go that route and have charms be craft able, decorations be more easily farm able and make the end game the grind for weapon augments. Could even add armor augmentation to add more decoration slots
