Absolutely love the look of this for photography I currently use Samsung but i think this destroys it in artificial intelligence you explain things so well and I think I have to get hands on a pixel 6 or 6 pro they do look fantastic

I mean it ofc helps a lot that you're a photographer yourself. That's why I like reviews by professional photographers than normal youtubers who aren't much into still photography.

That's why I'm considering this phone. Pure Android unlike the bloatware from Sammy. This photography review has sold me. I'm returning to the Phillipines in a few months and I want a great camera that happens to be a phone. With it's eSIM and nano SIM I can have my TMobile and Smart or Globe while I'm there.
Nice review Tom. Just a heads up, the RAW output on Pixel is a computational RAW, meaning you don't lose the HDR, the RAW is a multiexposure stacked image. It does however give you a ton of more information to work with in editing, relative to a standard JPG output. You just don't get whatever automatically applied image adjustments Google does in processing. I've edited many RAW shots now out of my P6 pro, the results are spectacular. Images don't end up looking too "HDR-y". The main thing about Google's processing that I think contributes most to the over-HDR look is that shadows are raised too much, and the image becomes very flat. Saturation is bumped a bit too much too. You can avoid that by processing the RAW yourself.
What a fine video Tom just love it , this kind of videos really tests the true potential of a Pixel ! I agree been a fan for the pixel look from the very First pixel. Being a Photographer myself I do believe the pixel is not for everybody , but from the eyes of a photographer its an engineering marvel. The colours , the HDR+ , The nightsight , the portrait mode , everything just looks so GOOD.
Thanks for releasing this! With a lot of negative press coming out after I bought the phone, I definitely feel emboldened to go out and take some good photos.
Ive had my pixel 6 for a couple of weeks. I upgraded from the pixel 4XL. It's my favorite phone I've ever had. I haven't even used the camera yet so this review was super helpful!
@@jahnsgar I miss face unlock the most. The 4XL was an incredible phone with a crappy battery. That's why I got the 6. I had to replace my battery three times in the 4xl

I just watched your pixel 6 vs $5,000 camera review too. I love how far smartphone camera technology has come, but I do prefer the more natural colours of stand-alone cameras.
I think the advantage of the pixel line camera phones is they are known for accurate colour reproduction. Unlike iPhones or Samsung. I've DSLR and mirrorless cameras and find my pixel to be in line with those colour reproduction wise 😊
The pixel series in general has seemed to of matured into an amazing phone with the Pixel 6 and from watching this vlog, is holding its own with the iPhone. I'm really impressed.

Wow ,this video is what the exact review for pixel mobiles ! In general we prefer pixel mobiles mostly for photographic , more than the performance or any other Hardware things . From this video ,I think he catches the viewers preferences ,so he made a perfect review video for pixel mobile ,it's really nice
If the finger print scanner is a big issue for a quick photo, turn on the double tap power button shortcut for camera. Not good if you have friends who might "prank" you with a photo, but it bypasses the fingerprint sensor and only makes the camera app available with whatever photo(s) were taken available to view, no previous photos.
I bought the 6 Pro because this is my only photography device, I really, really love it! I ditched the "portrait mode" and shoot mainly with the primary lens and the 4x Tele, the natural bokeh is enough 😎
I am glad I found a video with someone that understand the advantage with compressing from 50 Mp to 12 Mp and how a camera processor can use this as an advantage, I still have a old Pentax 6 Mp camera I like and a 12 Mp Canon, so at first glance I thought Google was trying to fool user with the MegaPixel trap but then got very interested in that phone when I saw that treat it as a 12 Mp sensor and also use AI for some photo processing.

I purchased the pixel 6 pro used it for 5 days and returned it because the fingerprint sensor was so bad. Just waiting till they add face unlock and then I'll go back and get it again. Great comments about the picture taking abilities of the pixel 6, keep up the good work
Great video, it's nice to get an actual photographer perspective on the Pixel 6, I feel like you would've loved the Tele lens on the Pro, it's so good. One thing to note though, my fingerprint scanner works flawlessly, I recommend registering the same finger twice, and enabling "increased touch sensitivity" in the settings, also you shouldn't tap the scanner, keep your finger on it and it works every time, at least for me.
@@jahnsgar Android 13 changes the algorithms making the FP sensor less secure (though still as good as most) but increases speed and registering. Not sure they will add Face unlock now that looks like being sorted in Android 13.
Great review, thanks! FYI, about the fingerprint scan, several solutions : just record several times your fingerprints, enhance the fingerprint capture in the settings or, just set a shortcut (to the camera) with a double click on the power button ;-)

I came to the Pixel 6 pro from a Huawei P30 pro and I must say both take amazing photos, but I prefer the pixels shots and I like the magic eraser feature.

Nice Video, Tom :) The Pixel 6 seems to have a great camera system, besides the non existing telephoto lens. But in general, people will take the most pictures with the main lens - in this perspective, a great value phone in comparison with the pro model 👍

I am on my Pixel 6 pro commenting and completely agree with you. It is a powerful camera. The phone is really fast for daily but sometimes it takes 2-3 seconds to process after the shot.
People who buy deprecated overpriced CrApple products are just iSheep who would buy a teapot for $2000 if CrApple slapped its logo on it. #boycottapple
This phone has a lot of bugs. I have used a lot of high end phones and this is one of the worst. Just Google "Pixel 6 bugs". The only good thing is the camera but all other bugs make this phone not worth it.
I think what’s better with photographers reviewing phone cameras are really empowering budding phone photographers like me bc you understand things “in-depthly!” The Pixel 6 s a dream phone for me!

I too enjoy the Pixel 6 camera. In some situations however it is too good. If I'm shooting flowers in a vase and want to keep the background dark (something I can easily do on any conventional camera), the Pixel insists on lightening the background too. Sometimes portrait mode helps in that situation, but not enough. I have the same fingerprint sensor problems you have. On the whole, am satisfied with this all-rounder.
I used to have a google phone like 6 years ago…. Loved it. Thanks for this review I’m pretty sure I’m gonna be happy with the pixel 6! Pics are very important to me ever since becoming a mom.
Awesome vid. I completely agree, even thought I am using my phone more and more for serious photos, no phone is ready to replace any of my other serious camera hardware. With that said, that is exactly why I didn't get the Pro. When the 7 comes out that might change but for now, 6 is the sweet spot.
You got a couple things wrong here. 1) the fingerprint sensor isn't a hindrance to the camera, as you can double tap the power button to open the camera even when it's locked, and 2) keep your tripod around if you want to use astrophotography mode.. I have a 6 Pro, and tested it (unwittingly) during a meteor shower. With a full 15 minute exposure, I not only got amazing results, but the unexpected bonus of a couple short videos that actually recorded meteors crossing the field of view.
Watching pixel review is just so good,the feature that they give to us is just meaningful and not just a gimmick.but there is some problem that they needed to solve to overcome an good experience for the people.good review keep up the work
Really appreciate this perspective - after my Motorola's camera suddenly becoming fuzzy it's really hit home just how much I rely on my phone's camera, so my next phone is hinging on camera capabilities.
ID LOVEEE A PIXEL 6 the translation and transcription is also a real diamond in that phone, i also love the way the pictures come out in the pixel punchy and vibrant!
I'm still using my beloved Pixel 2 and I'm eyeing the regular 6 to upgrade but buying one is quite hard since I'm in a region where Pixel phones aren't available. Black market markups are utterly high, the regular 6 is almost the price of the 6 Pro here.
Now the price has just dropped on the pixel 6 I’m seriously tempted to buy one, it will certainly be an upgrade on my Huawei phone,which has performed brilliantly over the past 4 years.

I have this phone for a year now and I agree in everything you say, the fingerprint after a few months it becomes a bit difficult to detect and you have to end up using the side button and then put your finger in the screen to unlock it, but apart from that, great phone!

I appreciate your insights with the Pixel 6. Just got mine and really appreciate the beauty of the camera. One small point in your review... Your complaint about the slow fingerprint scanner when getting to the camera can be made moot by using the power button double-click short cut. I'd also note i haven't experienced that much of a lag with the print scanner vs. the dedicated scanner of my old Pixel 4a. Thanks for your review.

These photos really do look amazing. Im still using a galaxy s9 and the photos tend to get overexposed like hell. This looks like what i expect my photos to look like .
Compared to my iphone 13 pro, I really enjoyed the p6p. Solid phone and was amazing, I wanted a change of pace and have decided to use my iphone for my main phone but I would say that I would easily swap again.
@@weyjosh5213 I would give it to the pixel 6 pro. I still have both devices and would say that pixel would be my go to 2nd device if it wasn’t for me currently trying the s22 plus for my job as 2nd device. Pixel is solid, cameras were more consistent. I didn’t have to apply filters constantly like dramatic cool, since iPhone takes way too warm shots. Lens flare is annoying too at night. The only downside with pixel is portrait shots but you could adjust blur effect which greatly increases quality. Video would be iPhone, but s22 is good if you have the right equipment. Pixel for pics though. I know someone who just uses p6p for work related shots and with lightroom, creates amazing shots. I also find too much light is an iPhones worst enemy, what I mean is, it tends to overexpose or any glow makes images inconsistent. Never have that problem with pixel, especially the s22. Each has there faults but you learn based on what you have. I just know I would easily use pixel as prime device if it wasn’t for my job.
@@weyjosh5213 enjoy your choice if you’re aiming for a new phone. I would read up on everything and test it out yourself at an electronic store. You’ll hear all about pixel issues but honestly, being in the beta, no issues whatsoever, so if it becomes stable real ease, an amazing phone for pixel. iPhone isn’t perfect either, my s22 plus doesn’t freeze for apps or stay blacked out opening apps like iPhone, even after reboots, cycling, etc. s22 plus has shutter lag. Each has their own downside. I would say if pixel releases like I’ve experienced with the recent beta, it would hands down be phone of the year last year.

There is a setting that turns the power button into a quick camera open. You'll still have to unlock it to access anything else.
I bought Pixel 6 3 months ago and I don't thing I could have got a better android deal than this champ. Photography is amazing on this.
This phone is just too smart, smartest smartphone out there. Absolutely love all the features in the camera app.

With that said, that is exactly why I didn't get the Pro. When the 7 comes out that might change but for now, 6 is the sweet spot.

Moving back from S21 to Pixel, miss my Pixel 4
You got a couple things wrong here. 1) the fingerprint sensor isn't a hindrance to the camera, as you can double tap the power button to open the camera even when it's locked, and 2) keep your tripod around if you want to use astrophotography mode.. I have a 6 Pro, and tested it (unwittingly) during a meteor shower. With a full 15 minute exposure, I not only got amazing results, but the unexpected bonus of a couple short videos that actually recorded meteors crossing the field of view.
Watching pixel review is just so good,the feature that they give to us is just meaningful and not just a gimmick.but there is some problem that they needed to solve to overcome an good experience for the people.good review keep up the work
Really appreciate this perspective - after my Motorola's camera suddenly becoming fuzzy it's really hit home just how much I rely on my phone's camera, so my next phone is hinging on camera capabilities.

One thing I love about pixel device's is that they don't need to edit. you can straight away upload to social media.

I'm still using my beloved Pixel 2 and I'm eyeing the regular 6 to upgrade but buying one is quite hard since I'm in a region where Pixel phones aren't available. Black market markups are utterly high, the regular 6 is almost the price of the 6 Pro here.

Now the price has just dropped on the pixel 6 I’m seriously tempted to buy one, it will certainly be an upgrade on my Huawei phone,which has performed brilliantly over the past 4 years.
After having my Pixel 5 for over 2 years, I can guarantee I will give a try to the pixel 6, it looks amazing!

I have this phone for a year now and I agree in everything you say, the fingerprint after a few months it becomes a bit difficult to detect and you have to end up using the side button and then put your finger in the screen to unlock it, but apart from that, great phone!

I just upgraded from a pixel 3a XL to a pixel 6 pro and gave my 3a to my 9th grade son as his first phone. I really like the pixel phones

I appreciate your insights with the Pixel 6. Just got mine and really appreciate the beauty of the camera. One small point in your review... Your complaint about the slow fingerprint scanner when getting to the camera can be made moot by using the power button double-click short cut. I'd also note i haven't experienced that much of a lag with the print scanner vs. the dedicated scanner of my old Pixel 4a. Thanks for your review.

Compared to my iphone 13 pro, I really enjoyed the p6p. Solid phone and was amazing, I wanted a change of pace and have decided to use my iphone for my main phone but I would say that I would easily swap again.
Based on what you saw, which takes better pics between the two? Not videos
@@weyjosh5213 I would give it to the pixel 6 pro. I still have both devices and would say that pixel would be my go to 2nd device if it wasn’t for me currently trying the s22 plus for my job as 2nd device. Pixel is solid, cameras were more consistent. I didn’t have to apply filters constantly like dramatic cool, since iPhone takes way too warm shots. Lens flare is annoying too at night. The only downside with pixel is portrait shots but you could adjust blur effect which greatly increases quality. Video would be iPhone, but s22 is good if you have the right equipment. Pixel for pics though. I know someone who just uses p6p for work related shots and with lightroom, creates amazing shots. I also find too much light is an iPhones worst enemy, what I mean is, it tends to overexpose or any glow makes images inconsistent. Never have that problem with pixel, especially the s22. Each has there faults but you learn based on what you have. I just know I would easily use pixel as prime device if it wasn’t for my job.

@@weyjosh5213 enjoy your choice if you’re aiming for a new phone. I would read up on everything and test it out yourself at an electronic store. You’ll hear all about pixel issues but honestly, being in the beta, no issues whatsoever, so if it becomes stable real ease, an amazing phone for pixel. iPhone isn’t perfect either, my s22 plus doesn’t freeze for apps or stay blacked out opening apps like iPhone, even after reboots, cycling, etc. s22 plus has shutter lag. Each has their own downside. I would say if pixel releases like I’ve experienced with the recent beta, it would hands down be phone of the year last year.
