    Really enjoyed this; quite different. Finished like a Christmas Special. That this was a real journey, with a purpose seemed to change the way I saw everything. Good to meet your daughter, and I recognize that proud father look!

    • @JohnnyHooverTravels
      @JohnnyHooverTravels  Рік тому +1

      Yes - I feel they tell you that videos should "tell a story" and it just didn't feel right leaving you all at Chambéry. So we got a bit of a ride in the Volvo and Mikki didn't mind the intrusion.
      ...and there was me thinking I'd get another complaint about snow and trees and no beer...

      @@RoddyJenkins I was ok. And I much preferred it to skiing. So I think I may well persevere. There's a bit of me on a board in the follow-on, but I did have another hour tuition after that and I do think I "might" be able to get the hang of it. Obvs the belittling from the daughter only spurred me on! 😂

    Excellent video ! Thank you ! But the train you took from Lyon to Chambery isn't a Regio2N. It's à 2NNG. indeed, REGIO2N are regulary used for suburban TER services to Saint-Étienne Châteaucreux at the departure of Lyon Part Dieu. You can see it at 7:33. If you were getting out Lyon Part Dieu station by the other main entrance, you would see the famous shopping centre.

    A bit late, but the talgo set is actually a brand new one! These trains haven't even started to run yet. They are in homologation processes here in Spain, and Renfe wants them to also run the Barcelona-Lyon route, so I guess that's why there was one there. They are pretty awesome trains, capable of 300+km/h in standard gauge, but are also capable of gauge changing and running up to 220km/h in iberian lines too. They are also super-wide, and can accommodate a 3+2 configuration with the same seat space as a 2+2 configuration (or so Renfe says, I'm not very convinced on this one).

    This talgo is for homologations to operate in france with Renfe, that after the disolution of the jointventure of Renfe SNCF the two companies will offer it’s own product alone

    • @JohnnyHooverTravels

      Ah that makes sense - just seemed odd that it was stabled in Lyon and it also looked like it was becoming the target of the graffiti.

      @@JohnnyHooverTravels yeah well these homologations have become endless you know how the french don’t like at all competition!! In addition these trains have also problems to be certificate in Spain, the delibery has been delay plenty of times since 2021, as they will be the new s-106 of renfe AVE. Renfe wants to operate them un the line Madrid-BCN to Marseille Lyon and Paris in addition to the doméstics routes, especially to the north as they are gauge changing HST!!
