Wherever Graham went, he delivered amazing vocals. As a 'tweener' of his music, his work with Alcatrazz is what connects with me most. He was so good with Yngwie. There was a confidence expressed in the vocals that meshed so well with the phenomenal guitar work.
I've been a huge Blackmore fan for about 40 years now, and out of all the interviews I have read and seen, he does have the ability to make up about 80% of it. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story!
Such an awesome talent with a style all his own. Rainbow was such an anomaly, their first three singers (Dio, Graham & Joe Lynn Turner) are/were so iconic, not many bands could match that talent.
The only rainbow album i really love is down to earth, the only one bonnet is singing on, he sung on a msg track called dancer when Gary Barden left that was really good but Barden rejoined the band and replaced grahams vocals, what a dude 🍀♠️
I'll be honest - I had a problem with his short hair back in the early 80's. Rob Halford, too. It was a perception back then that you weren't rock'n'roll without long hair. Still loved the music, I just used to think - grow your hair out! Now that I'm bald,, I don't miss the long hair at all. Especially in the summer. If I had it, I'd keep it short.
In my opinion one of the best rock voices I have ever heard a real legend just think how much bigger Rainbow would have been if they could have got their act together the whole band Bonnet blackmore Powell ect real legends all of them much more would have come from them

Blackmore asked Andi Deris to join Rainbow and when he asked Ritchie if the current singer (I think it was Doogie White) knew he was to be replaced and he said “no”, Deris turned him down, he didn’t want to be a part of that & thankfully he did, he’s been the frontman for Helloween since ‘94. Love his integrity 👍🏻. Helloween did a cool tune with Candice Night (Blackmore’s wife) called “Light the Universe”
To bad they only did one album. It was a great album. Even Blackmore said if that line up stayed together it would have been the best band in the world.
Yeah, that was my first Rainbow album. Graham was absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Lost in Hollywood, Eyes of the World, Loves no Friend + the two hit singles - really solid record.
I went in there dressing room at the Lakeland Civic Center 1982. I was a nightclub singing drummer, working T-Shirt security, it was Ghost in the Machine album. I kept guard at the front of house sound man. After the show i went back stage and walked right in there dressing room. It was me and those three, i babbled something, shook hands with Stewart, turned around and walked out. I have his used drums sticks, there were at least a hundred broken sticks all around the drums! I was 29
Ritchie's practical jokes were the stuff of legend. From putting amplifiers under floorboards to wake people at night with Ghost sounds,,to Throwing Javelins through peoples doors,,,,,One that made me laugh was one DON AIREY spoke about ...You might go home & find all your FURNITURE from your HOUSE had been removed 😳😆😂
Coming from an interview with Ritchie Blackmore Ritchie told the interviewer that while Graham Bonnet was on Stage singing after getting a Fresh Haircut that he was Pissed about it!!! Ritchie had Anger issues, and that Night he said he wanted to Smash His Guitar into the Back of Graham Bonnet's Head!!! True Story! Watch the interview! The reason he was Pissed was because, Ritchie wanted a Long Hair Rock Star image of his Band Mates!, and Graham Bonnet Messed that up at the time with a Short Haircut! L.o.l. Damn 😆😅🤣
And then there’s Blackmore’s version of the haircut. Said he wanted to hit him with his guitar. Blackmore indeed took it personally. Richie says “we” wanted him to have long hair. I believe Bonnett. Blackmore lives at the center of his own universe. Not uncommon with those of great talent. ua-cam.com/video/Shw1b1UoqFw/v-deo.html
Sadly it's hard to balance the sound on video with interviews that aren't in studio, as you can see he was just in a busy part of his home. You can though, hear the full interview on the Vintage Rock Pod podcast where the sound has been enhanced: open.spotify.com/episode/0MGnwuCKtrvbwVW8YV2hJ0?si=g-mxEYvWSHCudsNZd8LqOA

What a legend! He is one of the best vocalist of all time.Seems like a great guy
Possibly the most underrated Rock singer ever.
Wherever Graham went, he delivered amazing vocals. As a 'tweener' of his music, his work with Alcatrazz is what connects with me most. He was so good with Yngwie. There was a confidence expressed in the vocals that meshed so well with the phenomenal guitar work.

I saw Graham with Yngwie back in the 80s. Always loved his voice. Good to see he is in good health and spirits.
"I can't be on the same stage as that haircut"... should have been in Spinal Tap
First time I remember seeing Bonnet was on some TV video. He had short hair and wore a suit and his voice was STRONG!
Nice.
Such an awesome talent with a style all his own. Rainbow was such an anomaly, their first three singers (Dio, Graham & Joe Lynn Turner) are/were so iconic, not many bands could match that talent.
Dont forget he was in the Marbles in the late 60s 'Only one woman' etc. Such a great voice. Loved his single 'Night Games'
The only rainbow album i really love is down to earth, the only one bonnet is singing on, he sung on a msg track called dancer when Gary Barden left that was really good but Barden rejoined the band and replaced grahams vocals, what a dude 🍀♠️
one of the best vocalists ever
Grahami is so likable and such an amazing talent,
Fantastic interview, what a great guy!! I was just waiting for that black bass to fall off the wall!!
Eyes of the World was always one of my favorite Rainbow songs.
The best track on Down to Earth for those that were not so keen on the more commercial tracks
I love that man, from the very first time I heard him singing, long long time ago
I think Ritchie just had a bee in his Bonnet.
This guy on stage in the all night long video is a rock GOD
It was fantastic to hear Graham featured prominently on the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 soundtrack. Great voice, great tune.
GB was a great singer for thee Rainbow of the '80's
Him & Ronnie we’re both Awsome 🎼👌
Mr. Bonnett was able to work with great musicians but in terms of personal success he deserved much more...
Legend!
And now what:s the story behind Ritchie's wig?
Blackmore got it totally wrong. Bonnet was one of the coolest guys in rock in the early 80s.
Edit. Especially the red trousers.
You should have just asked for one of Richie's wigs if you're hair wasn't long enough 😆😆😆😆😆
😯🤣
For real. For the last 45 years, Blackmore has only needed a hair cut. Not haircut. Hair cut. Singular. One hair. The rest were carpet strands.
I'll be honest - I had a problem with his short hair back in the early 80's. Rob Halford, too. It was a perception back then that you weren't rock'n'roll without long hair. Graham's voice was awesome, take some beating! !!
If I saw him walking down the street today I wouldn't recognize him.
THANK YOU !

just aswell Rob Halford didn't join Rainbow

i laughed harder on this one than ritchies story.
Assault Attack is Graham's finest work imho...ooh ..first!
I agree
1. DOWN TO EARTH
2. ASSUALT ATTACK
3. NO PAROLE
4. DISTURBING THE PEACE
@@highwaystar3780 i'd flip 1 and 2 but 100% agree mate
Awesome voiced performer... Marbles and Rainbow.
Legend.

@@michaelcottle6270 not a bad song. Eyes of the world is a masterpiece
Long hair and image was sometimes more important than talent back in the day…
aha !
I went in there dressing room at the Lakeland Civic Center 1982.

Hilarious stuff! 😂
One of my favorite singers.
All those years in the States, he's not lost any of that Skeggy accent.
I thought this was going to be about Blackmore's wig.
Ritchie's practical jokes were the stuff of legend. It's a shame he's still alive.
with friends like that,...
@@rosskstar ...'who needs enemies' ....I don't think that other guy was making any pretenses to be his friend judging by what he said..
I saw Graham a few years ago with Michael Schenker and he looked totally different.
It was in Newcastle this happened
That’s right a guy I knew (a quite well known NE drummer) was working in City Hall at the time backstage and heard RB talking about it.
Forget to put his teeth in for the interview. Happens to me too.
Proper naughty geezah! Exactly the type of old dude I want to grow into. Terrence Stamp too. They still got it.

Yeah, it's a very famous interview with Ritchie, which is why I wanted to get Graham's side of the story 👍👍 thanks for watching!
I wish Yngwie would sit down with JLT and Graham, write some great songs with Desmond Child, and make the ultimate album with both vocalists.
Graham Bonnet voice never been one like him since
What a surprise that Ritchie turned it into a bigger drama 🙄
One of the nicè guys in rock
Hair > Talent

Never go full New-Wave.
Richie is a brilliant guitarist but think he’s a bit of a bully
The best!
7 Floors up ?....You'd have needed a Grappling hook....lol
It’s Graham Fellows not Graham Bonnet.
Joan Chitty just out of shot
Two Tubs of Margarine On The Go
Would love to hear Bonnet belting out I can't go back to savoury now
The irony is that Graham still has his hair, and Ritchie doesn't ... Ritchie's wigs are worse than Graham's short hair
Boils down to control...
Blackmores "hair" is a wig!
Oh the irony! 😂
Keep waiting for that bass to come off the stand and hit him on the head 😮
Ritchie never allowed the truth to get in the way of a good story..........
The swinging bass above your head makes me nervous.
I wish he would move that chair.
He's certainly moving those basses... 🙂
i wish the sound was better, my be my computer

Snails, not devil horns. 😂
Is this the Only One Woman singer???
Funny story Ritchie should not Have lost Tony Carey, where it fell apart.
If you haven't already, you can see my interview with Tony Carey talking about his time in Rainbow and why he left ua-cam.com/video/3ymwKAaIAl4/v-deo.html
Looks like a Manhattan apartment.
Ritchie Blackmore is wearing a wig these days 😎
MOVE YOUR CHAIR! Is anyone else distracted by that swinging black guitar?
John Shuttleworth
the hair cut made no difference to the songs or legacy
Blackmore was and is a great guitarist, but man, was he a drama queen
hair, lolllllllllllllllllllll....just sing, have fun....F Ritchie...
Aha , Graham Bonnet’s Barnet for fecks sake !
Yngwie says Graham unplugged his guitar and yngwie punched and knocked him down.
Graham also said Yngwie was a great guitar player but a bit of a c**t ( said it at one of his concerts ).
Judge for yourself: ua-cam.com/video/7N29MzwwcxE/v-deo.html Looks more like Yngwe tried to rub his guitar against a monitor & lost connection...
@@tonynew3047 and as Bronn so eloquently put it in Game of thrones...
ua-cam.com/video/NjPsQNGlNQg/v-deo.html
Well Yngwie is a big fella I can see him being capable of knocking someone on their heels. Maybe Graham should have joined Prince’s band.
Blackmore is such a malcontent. Always looking for a new direction, new talent, then repeatedly sabotaging it before he gets what he’s looking for.
Blackmore himself never had a talent for cool haircuts. He's down there together with Gene Simmons. They must have the same hairdresser.
haha
Blackmore's hair was a wig. He was only jealous.
Ritchie is a fuckin liar 😂
We all know what Ritchie is capable of ! ...
Richie is such a child
