  • Overview of construction progress on my narrow gauge Sn3 layout. Over the past year, we've done a great deal of scenery, built many new structures and made trackwork enhancements. Brand new Canon XA50 video camera system and upgrade to Adobe Premiere Pro. Since I modeled the Santa Fe Plains Division in HO scale for nearly 40 years, I never built mountains, bridges and tunnels before! All I needed for flat land scenery was a belt sander! And... both trees in the Texas Panhandle had serial numbers! Without the expert help of some top-notch Narrow Gauge modelers (see the rolling credits at the end) I would NEVER had made it! A man who has such helpful friends is blessed indeed.

Z, N, O, HO, & G scale layouts I'm familiar with. Where does Sn3 fall between those scales?

HO scale is 1/8" to the foot. S scale is 3/16" to the foot. O scale is 1/4" to the foot. The "n" means narrow gauge. In the United States (and many other countries) "standard GAUGE" is 4' 8 1/2". NARROW GAUGE is 3' 0". So my SCALE is 'S' but narrow gauge. Eight feet is eight feet whether it is narrow GAUGE or Standard GAUGE. Thanks for watching!
