I honestly think they had a good relationship. The way IU wrote the lyrics had a bittersweet feeling to it. He wishes her well, prays for her, wants her to sleep well and hopes she will be happy. It's like hearing all those good words from him makes the break up more hurtful. I love this song so much! Definitely one of my favorites from IU. 💜💜

This song really fills w bittersweet. He was wishing her well n IU admits she was always hesitant w the relationship which cause the whole thing to break. When IU finally feels like she can love him, he left. But then again, he always knows the whole time she never gave her whole heart to him. IU lyrics always fills w stories and emotion. She such good story teller. The whole "Please, don’t say those words, You know those words hurt me even more, You said you would love me, so what is this," really brings tears to my eyes.
For me personally with the line "I hope you find someone who will love you more than you love yourself" I never took it as accusing them of being a narcissist. I understood as, I know you have a negative opinion of yourself and although our relationship is ending I genuinely hope and pray that you find someone that cares for you even if it's hard for you to love yourself
Kim Soo-hyun, they were in two TV series together, most notably (sorta') love interests in 'The Producers' in 2015 (Taeyeon had a small cameo in that series), then in 2019 he had a noteable cameo at the very end of IU's series 'Hotel Del Luna'.
I'm happy IU decided to make a video for this song, because I think it complement the song very well! This is one of my favorite, and I think "Full stop" is another song that explains well the meaning of cutting down the strings by one self 😉

I didn’t take it as cutting each other down with words? I more so thought of the “strings attached” thing. And then cutting the strings represented them cutting their ties with the relationship/breakup and moving on. Like they watched all the previous memories and are ready to let go (him more than her).
Okay so it took me a while to fully understand what the meaning behind "Ending Scene" fully was about. My first interpretation was that from reading the lyrics in English. Was that the guy in the relationship is the whole problem. And that he was selfish and was all about receiving her love. But not giving it back to her and he was using her just to have her there to feel a lonely void. But he never loved her the way she loved him. So he broke her because of that. But seeing the Mv it's completely different visually I understand the interpretation now. Their relationship was doomed from the beginning when they first met. They may have loved and cared about each other but it wasn't enough. Because he didn't understand he never could fully understand her. With her being cautious he got impatient and just gave up. And broke up with her. The line "Will I ever be loved by someone like me" says a whole lot. He didn't understand and couldn't give her what she needed. She needs someone who understands her and will be more understanding. Someone right for her because he was not right for her.
COGNITIVE DISSONANCE. IU is master of this with video and lyrics doing different things, a chronological and sentimental history of relationship and a total breakup song… it’s hard to pick up on with first watch

I am a Korean in my 60's. I recommend you IU's "Autumn Morning". Beacuse it can feel you the heaven as you might feel in your childhood.
