    I saw The Sound a few times in the early 80's and they were outstanding - so much more natural raw energy than most bands of their era - Adrian ( R.I.P ) was an amazing songwriter - From The Lions Mouth was a favourite album of mine.

      his punk band, the Outsiders was the first punk lp self-released (recorded at his parents home, engineered and financed by Dad). Its also awesome and finally reissued. This stuff is an extension and progression of that poorly recieved lp that is still in demand. Critics were wrong that time. Hard to push a self released album in those days. Plus this stuff left it nearly forgotten.

      Borland was a tortured genius and the musicianship from all the band, fuuuk! How the hell they went under the radar, God knows. The keyboard guy was soooo integral to their overall sound (the overall Sound :) I loved this band from the mment I heard them all those years ago on some road trip up to Nottingham with my friend Dave. It was like him goin , listen to this ( he played the whole album From the Lion's Mouth') - then me goin' , "Yeah, its good ' in a casual sort of way; then Dave plays it again and I go ' Bloody hell they're fantastic'!

    Massively underrated.. Bloody hell, what a band. We all suffer from angst from now and then. Borland had it in spades. 30 years on I still like to think I get "it". Trouble is my daughter now lives in Australia, is older than I was 30 years ago and angst is so old skool. She has swum with sharks, rays, and dolphins and loves her life. Love you kid.

      RADIO SUICIDIO Muchas gracias, merci beaucoup, arigatou gozaimasu. Yes, inexplicably not promoted. Then again, Joy Division didn’t get their due until Ian ended it all. Sadly, 2 musical geniuses took their lives. Wonder if they’re hanging out up there together. Both tremendous losses, yet Adrian got cheated. Strange eh?

    Sounds more Rock than Pop oriented to my ears,but Post-Punk is definetely accurate. Some great Post-Punk too. The statues remind me of early neofolk as well as bands like Sisters of Mercy,Feilds of Nephelhiem,and Joy Divison as well as Dead Can Dance. Really fits the aesthetic of the music too,sort of that grest early goth sound.

    • @juju5568
      @juju5568 4 роки тому +2

      I agree with you about the chameleons/Bunnymen.
      I think these bands had
      A bit of influence from
      Punk music.
      However, were more original to develop their own sound.
      Really good guitar riffs.

    one of the bitter realities about the music business, i have said for decades that i think had Adrian looked like Ian McCulloch The Sound may have been a huge band, instead they are my absolute favorite band and people never know what im talking about if i mention them.

    • @gabrielceballos8789
      @gabrielceballos8789 Рік тому +2

      there are lots of reasons, the industry didnt deem them as marketable because yes the industry is superficial but also plenty of Adrians music was just not pop hit material, which i think is a good thing mainstream 80s pop music is sorta lame haha, also your point about Adrians looks doesnt really go far when considering people like janis joplin made it big despite their mediocre looks. i just feel like its bad luck also ades early political takes were very threatening of the establishment which may have turned some heads and led to censorship.

    • @newwavepop
      @newwavepop Рік тому +1

      @@gabrielceballos8789 i wasnt so much saying being average looking or less stopped him from being successful, i was more implying that had he looked great he probably would have done better. as successful as Joplin was or Ma Cass, imagine how much more they would have been if either of them looked like perfect little cute hippie girl Michelle Phillips.
      im not sure where you are in the world because that makes a difference, because here in the U.S. Echo and the Bunnymen were not really top 40 hit makers, but they were known. and musically i see no reason The Sounds material couldnt have been as well known, and im sure if Adrian had looked more like Ian he may have gotten more attention. A Flock Of Seagulls are practically still meme famous to this day just because of one temporary haircut. despite most people only knowing one song by them.
