If anyone had Hamilton joining Ferrari on their 2024 bingo card, congratulations. Could you please tell me next weeks lottery numbers as well as the forecast in the Maldives for June 2025. I’m sure as you’ve all seen, Hamiltons taking an Italian holiday starting 2025, as he has signed with the Scuderia in what must be the single most shocking move in F1 History. Dwarfing Seb’s move to the Scuderia last decade and Damon Hill leaving Williams after just winning a championship, Hamiltons move has broken the internet, the paddock and I can only imagine multiple desks within Toto’s office. The fury of the team must be hot enough to dwarf the sun, with them calling an emergency staff meeting in response to the news dropping, leading the world to believe that the news blindsided them just as hard as it did the Mercedes team. All the talk of balance, stability and a homely feeling about the team has been obliterated with three simple words. Hamilton to Ferrari.

Wouldn't have occured if Hamilton's true mentor, Niki Lauda, had still been around. Toto was just a friend.

The way I figure it was Ferrari made the decision this off-season to not renew Carlos Sains' contract. Knowing that Ferrari now needs a driver for 2025, Fred Vasseur mentioned to Lewis that Carlos would not be with Ferrari in 2025, then gave him first opportunity before they go looking elsewhere. If you're Lewis Hamilton, can you pass this up? It's no secret he wanted to drive for Ferrari.
When McLaren stopped listening to Hamilton and moved their design concept towards Button's driving style, Hamilton moved on and made good at a team in midfield. In the last few years it seems the same has happened with development of the Mercedes. Hamilton's frustration was clear to see and yet he gave his team multiple opportunities to get their concept on track. Good for Hamilton for moving on. Mercedes can now concentrate on Russel and Hamilton can have a new challenge with an iconic team behind him, maybe.
I see what is Lewis doing. He might be completely missing Ferrari. Winning title in Ferrari is shortcut for immortality, you dont have to be multiple champion. Its not the same legacy as win with energy drik car

I think Ferrari would have been better of renewing Sainz contract and use that money as lure and salary for RB chief strategist. Hannah Smithz. No more 'we come back to that" just fast handling of large amounts of data simultaniously and more often then not solid strategies. When people speak about the RB being so fast everyone (but Perez) could become champion in it often forget's that strategy in some races had more result then raw speed.

And the state in which Merc put Lewis did not guarantee a seat for 2026, I think a decision was made to bring the young driver in Antonelli in 2026. It is a smart decision from Lewis because that means he will still be driving for Ferrari and still have his ambassador role plus sponsorship into mission 44 which Merc declined to give him. The last season Ferrari had the car to finish P2 in the constructors championship the missing link was Lewis. I imagine 2025

Mercedes should take Alonso in 2025 which would be an upgrade. Alonso is the only driver on the grid who has a proven ability to maximize the results from any car and who has fought for a title in the 3rd (2010) or 4th (2012) fastest car on the grid.

I don't know what season you are referring to. Ferrari was on top of Merc for the last 2 years on pace. Merc has been a float because of its drivers not its cars.

Hamilton benefitted from the most dominant engine in F1 history. The car won those championships. For 3 straight years the only competition was Rosberg in the same car. They abused to turn it down, for fear they would be investigated and a rule change would hurt them. Have a bad pit stop? Just turn up party mode.

Norris is under long contract, and Alonso is too old for Mercedes to take on. Also Mercedes need every point they can get this year, and Hamilton delivers, like he did at a waning McLaren. and also the last two years at Mercedes with a car that deserves 4th 5th place in both those seasons.
