What ive learned after making these: Sometimes the hot glue doesn't like to hold, at all. To combat this you can use clear packing tape and wrap the noodle as you roll it, and wrap it with A LOT of tape. This is fine because the cellophane will cover it. It takes one roll of dollar store cellophane to cover it completely with a little bit left over. The dollar tree has cellophane basket bags with some christmas designs but its mostly transparent and fit perfectly while coming in a pack of two, that works better for me and i think looks cuter. Wooden dowels also work nicely as sticks and are only around 2 dollars for a sturdy one. You can also take a thinner tape and wrap in the middle of the thicker tape to add more design. Hope this helps to anyone wanting to make them as it took me a while to perfect them and get it looking pretty good :)
Thank you. I just started on mine and the hot glue is eating/melting up the pool noodle, and not holding. Ill have to use clear gorilla tape to hold them together. 😏
LOOOVE THIS DIY! I paid 39.99 EACH 2 years ago online for something like this but made with wood and wasn't 3-D! This idea is ALOT CHEAPER and 3-D and so stinking cute I absolutely love it! I know what I'm doing with all the pool noodles I normally throw away at the end of summer lol! Thanks so much for sharing this DIY! Plus they will store nicely a few in each trash bag and then tie them up and store them in my attic! Love it so much! Hope you and your family are enjoying your summer! Xox-Delia
These are amazing!! Well done. I love how you kept it simple and easy to follow. A definate add to my craft To-Do list. Helpful tip to me: Use zip ties, as 'bow ties'.. 😅😅
WoW Amazing You made it look easy I made these by using two pool noodles together for the stripes and they were almost impossible to coil around. I needed many zip ties and two people struggling to bend them. Genius using coloured duct tape. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
How adorable I was wondering how people made these.Thank you so much for sharing . As I want to do this for Christmas . So until next time God Bless you Val.
I have always wondered how those were made! Those are awesome! Look forward to seeing them in place during the holidays. Thanks for sharing and giving such a great step by step.
This was a wonderful idea. What a great imagination! I wonder what a person can use for clear wrapping that would last in our very cold and snowy winters? Again wonderful idea.
Omgoodness so cute!! I’m doing a candyland theme this year as well. I’ve been ordering ornaments since last year for my tree. Thanks for this DIY I’m totally making some 🙌🏽
This is amazing! I’ll be borrowing your idea this Christmas. Fantastic & easy tutorial. Most appreciate your talented streak 🍭 my garden is going to look beautiful this Christmas thanks to you x
I made these a few years ago but I used a DT broom handle instead of the plunger handle and they looked amazing outside in my front yard... I put them up every year
Nows the time to buy poolnoodles, im also doing this for Christmas this year, but I live in a cold climate here in Canada, im wondering if the hot glue would hold, so I might add silicone also just to make sure. Very nice!
Auntie Coo Coo that was an amazing diy. Loved it... I do Gingerbread/Candy Cane theme in my kitchen. Must try to do one of these lollipops for my kitchen. Thank you for sharing! 🍭🎄🍭🎄🍭🎄🍭
I can see putting the plunger back on painted with some rocks underneath glued or maybe the plunger attached to some board. Could then use them as walkers along with a scene or sidewalk.
Omg thank you so much for this!! My daughters 4th birthday is Candyland theme and I am glad I found this video because the way I was going to try and make these seems a lot more difficult! This is great! Thank you ❤️
Wow you made that looks so easy love it love it love it but I love the black and red because I’m going to do the black and red buffalo check this Christmas
I made this and my little brother was obsessed with it it took a while and took some trial and error but it was worth it thank you sooo much for this idea 🍭 🍭🍭😋😋
A lot of the comments talk about wanting to do this but I find that no one talks about the attempt. I tried this but unfortunately despite my efforts, the glue would not hold. I also tried using contact cement, but no dice. Maybe I’m doing something wrong?
Didn't work for me either. And its not cheap to buy pool noodles this time of year. This is the first day Christmas project I can't get to work at all.
Oh, my goodness, Val! How cute are these?! They totally look like lollipops! Your yard this Christmas season is going to be adorable! I sure hope you do a video! Tfs, friend : ) ps... I emailed you some pics or our `sunroom` : )
