 The Nile River is one of the most famous rivers in the world and is crucial to the history and development of northeastern Africa.
 It flows northward through eleven countries, including Uganda, Eritrea, Rwanda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Tanzania, Burundi, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan, Sudan, and Egypt, eventually emptying into the Mediterranean Sea.
 There are two main tributaries of the Nile: the White Nile, which originates from Lake Victoria in East Africa, and the Blue Nile, which starts from Lake Tana in Ethiopia.
 These two rivers meet near Sudan's capital, Khartoum, and continue as the Nile River towards Egypt.
 The Nile runs an estimated length of 6,650 km which makes it longest river of the African continent. It is also considered as longest river of the world as compared to the Amazon River.
 The river’s basin covers a total area of an estimated 3.4 million km².
 At its widest, the river has a width of 2.8 km and at its deepest, the river has a depth of 11 meters. On average, the river has a depth of 9.5 meters.
 In the north of Cairo, Nile is divided into two branches to form Nile Delta; The Damietta Branch; The Rosetta Branch.
 The Nile has been vital for agriculture and civilization in Egypt. Its annual flooding deposited nutrient-rich silt onto the land, making it possible for ancient Egyptians to grow crops and develop one of the world's earliest and most influential civilizations.
