Drop in to all model SP consoles. For one-chip units that already have the FP button LED mod, you'll have to get creative with a ground connection as the mod will block the most convenient ground point. Three-chip units are good as is with the FP button LED mod, however.

Was just making a Boxy Pixel Unhinged SP, and ran into a very similar issue with this exact amp. Ditched it and it works fine. Not trying an audio amp again anytime soon since messing with those tiny fuses and risking blowing something isn’t worth it to me 😂 thanks for the video, luckily well timed!
fortunately I made a comparison of the chips using the shelders, retroix and this new mod that came out recently, this can amplify approximately 1w while that of herlders 1.5w and that of retroix 1.45w but as a positive point for this modification is that the capacitor used for audio land is still used, while in with the retroix and helder use their own capacitor coming to a land that does not pass through that capacitor, this is not necessarily good or bad but I think it is a point to highlight besides being the cheapest of the 3
another reason it seems that the audio amplifiers stink is because the speakers are not prepared to do so without the 1w and 8 ohms that are usually sold, but recently I found a 23mm 2w and 8 ohms thinner speaker than many others that sell that perfectly digs and that for this type of audio mod is perfect able to withstand the loudest audio without cracking as you do the oem and third party brands
May I ask where you found that speaker? I have yet to find one with those specs that fits in the SP without modifications.

to be able to fix bad audio, it is true that there are mods that help to clean up audio, such as helders or retroix, but in principle you could also switch to audio ground capacitor for one maybe a little larger than 220uf and 6v or 10v to eliminate a little more unwanted noise, but it would only work with this audio mod amp because the rest don't use audio land
Wait a minute, 42:55 was that a prototype headphone dongle you're working on? I've been trying to find a decent headphone dongle for the SP but I can't seem to find one that's universally recommended. If you sold a dongle of your own I'd instabuy it..

Have you ever tried to use a dsi screen that you pull yourself with an ita ribbon from funnyplaying? I know the kit with the laminated DSI screen is only 5 more, but wondering if it would fit in an oem shell since otherwise it requires their shell. I have two DSIs that I play GBA on all the time but love the formfactor of my SP 001.
So i came across this amp on aliexpress and thought that it might work well in my wonderswan color since the volume on that is too low. there's no one whos done that kind of mod but do you think it would work out? the problem i see is not having granular control of the volume, just the 3 volume options so if the low volume is too loud then oh well. Any thoughts on doing this? i don't really see why it wouldn't work provided i can find a 3v point on the wonderswans board.
Hopefully they use the same voltages and audio format. I don't know anything about wonderswan.
Thanks for a very useful video. I added the amp to one of my GBA SP SpongeBobs. I now have twice the volume vs no amp. That means waking up others late at night with this thing lol. As for the speaker you installed, would you say it’s better or the same as funnypaying? I’ve already installed this in 4 GBA SP’s.
I don't notice any difference between the speakers.
@@makho ok so the only thing that would make a difference is in anything would be the amp as long as the speaker could handle more volume.
45:19 min in principle as this mod is one of the least elevated audio is also one of the least consumed (aprox 0.02A), "video game restoration" made a comparison between different mods for the game boy, between them this and the retroix and this is of the least energy consumed by all and although it seems that there are different mods that of gb and gba sp actually all these orange amplifiers use the same chip and components so the difference will be minimal between them
You talk about stacking mods, I’m having issues getting a usbc and headphone jack work together. Do you know of a company that makes a usbc adapter that is compatible with the headphone jack mod? I think I used the funny playing usbc with the Half oval sides. I enjoy the content!
They are out there, i know one of the kits allowed audio to pass through the other didnt. Pretty sure if you have the fp kit your good.
As long as you use the HP switch the way it's meant to be used (audio gnd /= gnd) then it should be fine.
42:47 min these audio mods don't affect the audio of headphones only that of the speaker

Not really. The sound is coming from the CPU.
