after trying Recalbox and Retropie, I've found that Batocera is the best out-of-the-box retro gaming experience! Retropie may have some customizations, but they're a pain to fiddle with and Batocera is getting even better over time with their own customizations and easier to use. I have a pc dedicated specifically to Batocera because I love the interface and look, making retro gaming even more fun.
Everyone take a shot of you favorite beverage every time "Batocera" is said, lol. All kidding aside, this is the most useful intro video to batocera on the net. I'm totally new to this and he did a wonderful job on explaining everything. Thank you!
"A number of high end emulators will take a hit in Batocera because it's not as optimized as Windows." Could you specify which we are referring to? Does this include Game Cube and/or Wii U? 🤔
Thans a lot for this video. Better performances on Windows over linux remain to prove. It IS becoming less and less true with the better GPU driver support. Same, for emulators on Windows and not on linux. Switch is not on batocera for ethical reasons.
You're right. For the most part, it has gotten so much better. PS3 & WiiU emulation appears to be slower but other than that, it has gotten so much better and faster.
Dropping a sub and like, because you answered the question I had! I was just wondering if it would be better to use an extra hard drive I had laying around but no, I'll wait and invest in a mini pc that's pretty strong. I want to make my own stand alone emulator device for when I'm streaming my rom hacks and mods of older games to take a load off my pc and this looks to be the best bet. But I also want something portable to take to a friend's house so we can do some og gaming and this is looking like it'll fit the bills. Thanks for the videos! I can't wait to come back for more!
I have Italian blood in me. However, I'm a Latino who was born in NYC. Half Ecuadorian and half Spaniard. So, when I pronounce "Batocera", I'm pronouncing it in Spanish.
I really dislike it defaults to Europe for game region and I can't fix it on the Steam Deck Batocera v38 (v39 has the Right Audio channel missing bug), it says to hit Start+L+R and I hit that and it does *nothing*
They have to be done manually. In the Rom folders, you will see "fbneo", "cps1", "cps2", "cps3", etc. From there, you will need to copy your roms to the appropriate folders.
@@BatoceraNation - so it has to be done manually, uff that’s going to take a while. One more thing, I got an arcade rom set on a hardrive, can I just dump all the roms into mame or do I have to separate them into fb neo and mame as well?🤔

Hello! I’m very new to the Batocera emulation scene but have been a Modder for years. I had no problem getting my rig set up and running. My issue is that my Batocera and everything about it runs choppy after I scrape my artwork. The dash and the games skip. Scrolling through games on the stock Batocera music skips as does the screen. Is this something that can be fixed? I’ve tried three different hard drives. All with the same result. I’m running a Dell Optiplex 3010 with gen 3, I-5 processor and 8gb ddr2 RAM.
Hi! Unfortunately, your system is using Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2500/4000. It's just not powerful enough to handle it all. Can you add a graphics card to it? An AMD graphics card would really help. Other than that, any of the newer Intel generation CPUs should do much better. Tenth to 12th Intel generation, or anything with Intel Iris would really help.
@@BatoceraNation Thank you my friend! I do have a graphics card port for an upgrade. I found a compatible AMD Radeon graphics card. Gonna give it a whirl. Thank you for the quick response and advice. I appreciate you!
With the current intergrated graphics you could try an older version of Batocera, before v29 I think it is. But as BN said being 3rd gen perhaps it is a little old, dunno. Perhaps a dedicated graphics card will do the trick but then you would also be limited to whatever your cpu could handle. But you should be able to get some systems running though either way. I had an i5 4th gen with intergrated graphics and had no issues when I was using that, some PS2 emulation on it too even. Mostly at native 1x res though. 4th gen out of the box are quite capable, and not to expensive. Anyway.😁
@Batocera Nation i have found you to be deceitful.... do not lie about settings that "not gonna work" I have tried settings at the polar opposite of what u say to check ur facts and they work even though u say they don't
The emulators are already included in Batocera. You copy your games into the proper emulator folders within the main rom folder. Once you update, you will see the emulators and games.

@@ChRisu_Ojisan I didn't know what the GPU was at the time. But after checking the system, the GPU is Intel UHD Graphics. So in summary, it doesn't seem to have any Nvidia drivers. It's entirely Intel driven.

Batocera is legal. Emulation is legal. The games included in Batocera are all legal since they are all homebrew. The games you add to it may or may not be legal depending where you get them. For example, the Top 50 Retro Remakes video tutorial that I made for Batocera are all freeware and legal. Everyone of those games. Look for it.
@@BatoceraNation thanks for the answer. i agree about batocera is legal .but i dissagre if it say roms include is homebrew. even if we buy and own the all original games in hand. we cannot copying the games because this piracy and illegal.
@nurwanto19 if you own the physical media and are ripping the data from them directly, you're not doing anything illegal because you legally own those cartridges. It'd only be illegal if you uploaded those roms for other people to download. Having said that, many games can only be played "illegally" nowadays. For example, I'm pretty sure Capcom isn't going to re-release their stellar Alien VS Predator beat-'em-up due to all the legal hoops they'd have to jump through for that. Sure you can hunt down an official Arcade PCB secondhand on ebay or something, but CAPCOM or... Disney, I guess... will not get a cent of that.
Usually adding links will end up by yt auto deleting the comment. I would say just use google. Also, in many of Batocera Nation vids he will show you one particular place as well.
Not supported. An alternative would be to just an android front end for your emulators like Dig,Reset Collection or Launchbox. You would ofcourse still have to install emulators seperately as those are front ends only. And they are not something you boot into, theyre just still apps that need to be launched.
Sometimes, depending on the PC hardware, emulators through windows may allow some systems to run a little better, and sometimes using Batocera is a little better. But the difference usually isnt huge. Basically if your PC cant PS2 games now for eg, its highly unlikely using Batocera will make any difference. It comes down to your PC specs. However theres no harm in trying Batocera is there? Flash it to a flash drive or portable hdd, load up any bios files you need and some roms and give it a test.
